  1. Crap! Having to drive to Spfld adds 400.00 to the cost for me. (gas, time, insurance, wear&tear). I'm assuming that he won't accept an offer of 100.00
  2. Tell me about it ! When I was a kid, my dad & the dog and I would get home from quail hunting, leave our vests on the front porch and take our guns in to wipe down and put away. Mom would grab a paper sack and a Tupperware bowl....and just go deal with it. ❤️ They don't make women like that anymore. 😢
  3. I pretty much agree, and I personally don't want it in any of my boats......But I'll sho'nuff install it in yours👍 Competitors have to stay on the cutting edge of crap like this, or else they are gonna lose repeatedly to 22 year olds 90% of the time. I believe it will eventually kill the sport of competitive fishing for the majority of guys. Bass and Crappie tournaments will eventually become as rare as a Galaga game at an arcade. Once guys get a belly full of fishing like that then they'll sell those boats and take up bowling-golf-pickleball-ect. And if so, THAT result truly pleases me. So go right ahead and burn yourself out. The sooner the better.👍 There's one thing I've learned in the business that I'm in, that I think would really surprise alot of guys here.....And that is the number of guys that wouldn't fish at all if there wasn't a TOURNAMENT for them to participate in.
  4. Good question....and I dunno. I certainly can't "feel it". But the units can zap a battery in short order, so they are definitely drawing a lot of juice. And the transducer does get quite warm, unlike that of 2D or SS/DI. I've heard guys say that their fish moved as soon as the signal bounced off them.....but I'm not sure I buy that. I have played with FFS a good bit and I haven't personally noticed them being even moderately aware of anything until you get within 20-25' of them.....and at that distance they are more likely reacting to the boat or trolling motor. Shad aren't effected by it, and crappie don't seem to be either....even at very close range. Maybe bass are "special? WTFever 🙄 White bass are spastic and don't sit still for 3 seconds....but they've been that way a long time before Livescope came along.
  5. Thumpers, tickers, and splashers have been proven to attract fish (or at least pique their curiosity). Surely over time the fish could become conditioned to avoid things like that. During large fishing events like the Big Bass Bash it's amazing how quickly all of the fish throughout the ENTIRE LAKE go into a noticeable funk. It's as if some kind of warning was broadcast lake-wide, even to areas that have yet to see a single fishing boat. When I first started targeting White bass on the flats with the flyrod I would balloon one and it worked great to help keep track of the school...... but that only worked for a season or two. Safety pin a balloon and 4# line to one NOW and it's like a Scarlet Letter....the other fish avoid that fish like the plague, even 2 Creek arms over where I've never done it before. All jokes aside, I am pretty much convinced that fish are somewhat telepathic, I think it's possible that they can communicate in ways that we don't understand at all. But then again you have things like the hatchery outlets, and the horns at Bennett & Taney.....that just blow that theory out of the water. But hey, those are hatchery idiots that may not possess the ability to recognize the signals. Who knows 🤷‍♂️
  6. Bottom Line: They are not going to ban it. Doing so would just open the door for yet another circuit who allows it. So rather than wasting time/energy pushing B.A.S.S., MLF, ect. to ban FFS,....and causing all of these hard feelings......Why not introduce a TRADITIONAL LEAGUE circuit with a "traditional" set of rules. (150hp max. & limited crutches) ?
  7. This new law they just passed is only going to make it worse. Because now it takes even more attention away from the driver to keep the phone and their actions HIDDEN.
  8. I've been that way for quite awhile, and I catch flack for it all the time....I don't care. I love to go on road trips, but at least once every week or so some idiot will start blindly veering into my lane, even though I travel less than anyone I know. Head-on collisions happen almost daily everywhere. Driving is more dangerous now than it has ever been,, and it makes me a nervous wreck. All of those people out there just don't seem to understand....or care.
  9. Extinction Level Event. Same thing tho. 😅 Do you ever think about that? The only reason that people can't tolerate certain other people is because there are too darn many people out there. If the world wasn't so full of people then you'd be happy to just meet another person. ANY person. Democrat/Republican, Baptist/Atheist, wouldn't matter.
  10. All of the RV parks around here are completely full, year round, and when a spot opens up they've got 3-5 fighting over it immediately. I honestly don't think anybody has to work anymore. I can't comprehend the whole RVing lifestyle at all. You've got the cost of that monstrosity up front, then the fuel and insurance......And then it costs more to park it nightly than it does to stay in a first-rate motel. 🤔 I don't get it. 🤷‍♂️ Seems like a lot of money to stay in a trailer park.
  11. Snakes are really on the move now. I haven't seen very many all Summer....but just here in the last week or so I've had run-ins with a hognose, several blacks, a kingsnake, and multiple ringnecks all right here by the house. They all get a free pass except for the copperheads....which I haven't seen lately. The hognose got a good shake from my dog and went into "dead mode" but I intervened and I'm pretty sure he made it out alive. ☺️
  12. I've always said I was gonna eat one, because the meat truly does look good, but I've never actually done it. I figure I'll just save that meal for the potential future apocalyptic event, since in the wake of a ELE, should I survive, I'll probably still be able to find some Gar.
  13. I got on a gar kick years ago....but thankfully I got over it. 😅 The rope thing was frustrating. A #6-8 hook worked way better for me. The smallish hook tends to find something to bite into better.
  14. I prefer Arby's over McDonald's.
  15. Apparently it kept feeding pellets when it wasn't supposed to, and then suddenly WOOFed! Darn near blew the lid completely off, and had a flame shooting out of it like a jet engine.
  16. We have beer butt chicken going as I type. This thing was once on the front porch, but tried to burn the house down and launch itself to the moon. For less than 100.00 I ordered everything electrical on it, rebuilt it, and it's been great ever since. But nevertheless it only gets used out in the middle of the driveway now.
  17. For Busch league weekend tourney anglers....yeah. I bet you'd be blown away at the number of hours on a one year old outboard used by a top level professional angler. "Boating" is a recreation for most folks. Those boys aren't just cruising around marveling at the scenery and gawking at kingfishers, eagles, and cranes. And when the waters get a little rough.... that $#!t HURTS! Weeks spent driving a dump truck on rutted roads would be like a vacation day to a pro anglers back and kidneys. Then after you've sampled the WHOLE LAKE you'll probably need to get out and sink some brush and build some rock piles. A bunch of them ! Getting a "good night's sleep" during the actual event.....Ha! Yeah right. Any top level pro bouncing around on day 2-3 and appearing "well rested" is suspect of heavy meth or cocaine use in my mind. Ike for example.....in his day... 100% speedballer, no doubt about it. And those crashes are hard on a body ! I've heard the claims of ADHD and all of that....but those uncontrollable fits he used to throw that everyone loved, are likely because he was on the cusp of a sleep deprived drug overdose. Those pudgy ones you might think are "soft" because they are dressed nice and speak like a politician when in front of a camera......Well most of them (the ones without a YouTube channel) have paws as tough as a grizzly bear. That doesn't come from just holding a steering wheel and an ink pen. So the term "athlete" isn't as big of a stretch as you might think.
  18. If you want a valid reason to bash the professional fishing industry I'll give you one..... Companies sponsor as many pro's as they can, and that number is based on their gross sales (which they are hoping/gambling continues to grow). Guess who REALLY pays for that? Go ahead, hold that credit card and boat title high....and take a bow 🙇‍♂️ The most expensive spool of fluorocarbon line has their brand logo on more jerseys than the cheapest, now doesn't it?
  19. Woah now. I never said that ! All of the full-time pro's that I know NEED to leave weigh-ins with a check. They don't need to WIN, but it's very important for them to finish fairly high in the money.
  20. I can tell ya that Dion & Lawson will put a limit of crappie in a livewell during a tournament......once they've secured a solid enough sack for the scales. 😅
  21. If you are competing as a pro BASS fisherman then all of your fishing time has to be spent BASS FISHING, or you aren't going to be anywhere near the top of the standings. You can't be jacking around Flyfishing for bluegill and Whites, or tying flys for a Trout fishing trip. That's why I'd never make it.
  22. I ain't mad, hurt, or offended. We're good 👍 I just couldn't sit back and not publicly defend those guys. They've done alot for me.
  23. Not at all, bro. The tone of your posts suggests that you believe to have a valid point. But the content of the posts verify that you definitely don't. I was just looking out for ya.....making sure you weren't having a stroke or something. 👍
  24. Back when it mattered to me I finished 9th at the state level, 13th in the regionals, and the next-step event that I qualified for was at Lake Havasu. Fished hard for 5 1/2 days there and didn't learn anything. My first daughter was born between then and the off-limits period, and I knew that if I didn't do well at Havasu that I wouldn't even have the funds to get myself and my boat back home. And "back home" was where this beautiful little baby that deserved responsible parents was at. My boat mechanic was getting way more of my money than anyone else was.....So I decided to become THAT GUY. It was a hard choice, but one that I'm really glad that I made. So is that little girl ❤️ I'm way prouder of what she has become than I ever would have been of myself.....even if I had eventually become the best bass angler in the world. Danny Correa won that Havasu event.....and I'll bet there's only one or two people here that even know who he is. And that is sad to me because I know first hand what he went through to get there.....and he doesn't have $#!t to show for it.
