BBT - It's tournament week on Table Rock!
fishinwrench replied to Big Bass Tour's topic in Table Rock Lake
I'm normally extremely patient at the ramp..... but for the love of all things 🙄 It's a 4 lane ramp but they back right down the middle of two lanes, then spend an eternity piss-anting gear from the car to the yak, strap it all down, rig rods, change shoes, install depth finder, ect.ect. All while a line of trucks/trailers/boats are sitting there idling and waiting on them to get out of the way. At least unload all the ACCESSORIES into a pile next to the ramp..... move your godforsaken car.....and pull the yak off to the side ! 😖 -
100% true! Just be thankful that this thread hasn't been turned into a debate about transgender athletes, or something. 😅

Being homeless is no picnic. Help them out if you can, everybody deserves a second......and third......and forth chance. I do however draw the line at #5 🤔

Update on Hellbender conservation in Missouri
fishinwrench replied to Johnsfolly's topic in Conservation Issues
It's funny, all these species that are reported to be strictly "Ozark" critters south of the Missouri river.......I grew up with on the Middle fork and Elk fork of the Salt river, as well as the upper Salt (now under Mark Twain res.) Smallmouth bass, Cottonmouths, Rattlers (2 different species), Hellbenders, and another smaller salamander called a Mudpuppy were far more common up there than I ever witnessed after I moved further south. -
BBT - It's tournament week on Table Rock!

Why would the Highway patrol care if there is ONE tournament with 100 boats.......or TWO tournaments with 50 each ? A simple sign would tell anglers which set of scales to go to. Ask Cindy....."Since when is the MSHP in charge of eliminating confusion at a bass tournament weigh-in ? " They should have intervened at the Gravois ramp yesterday because a group of 3 kayak anglers almost got beat over the head with their paddles for blocking both ramps for 45 minutes. Why in the hell does it take 20 times longer to launch/load a kayak than it does a 20' bassboat ? 🤔 I bet a kayak derby, prep for takeoff, has to start at like 2:00am. 😅 -
BBT - It's tournament week on Table Rock!

I've ranted about this myself in the past. The number of tournaments is completely out of control. The purpose of having to aquire a regatta permit is ...... What? Anyone have an answer to that? If you don't agree that the number of tournaments being allowed now is excessive, then at what point would you agree that it is excessive? If the tournament organizers don't begin to recognize the ridiculousness of what they are doing.....and knock it off......then SOMEONE (water patrol, or MDC) is going to have to start stepping on toes. -
62-64° in the upper Gravois this afternoon. Black crappie are all along the banks everywhere. Pea-gravel, chunk-rock, bluff......In the brush/away from any brush......In the shade/out in the blinding sun......Doesn't matter, they are everywhere.....and all about the same size (10"- 11.5")

It changes with every hard discharge. I don't get up there often enough, so it's a new area every time I get up that way.

Below 657.0 you really need to be familiar with where the channel is. Navonics is off in a few areas......Not by much, but enough to get you in trouble.

Lake level & temperature are both climbing, so what I tell you today will not be accurate tomorrow. https://apps.ameren.com/HydroElectric/Reports/Osage/HeadWaterTailWater.aspx

If it's something you want to have.....then it will die. If it's some scraggly-thorny-ugly thing that you want gone......then you can't kill it with 20 gallons of old gasoline.

Yep, make sure your home owners (or renters) insurance is paid up during tornado season ! I used to think that people living in mobile homes along tornado alley were CRAZY. But I can tell you from experience that it would have been WAY EASIER to just bulldoze the site clean and move a new double-wides onto the spot. 👍 That $#!t of having to rebuild an entire house and shop was a friggin nightmare. There were times when I honestly wished that I had just died in the darn thing.

I've experimented with a thumper box, and I guess it kinda works.....in a sense. I mean if the fish are within casting distance it WILL pull some of them right under the boat where you can catch them vertically with a jigging spoon. But let's face it, you're gonna catch them by casting anyway. And listening to that thumper box for 20 minutes straight is like being waterboarded.... it'll make you insane. It doesn't miraculously make fish appear when they aren't already in the area, and it doesn't "call them in" from a distance greater than 40-50 feet. It also doesn't turn them on and make them go on the feed any earlier than they normally do. If I just sit adrift over the flats in 6-10' and watch the LCR I can see fish come up and inspect the ticking transducer all the time. We once had a 4' long gar that absolutely would not leave us alone.....Followed us all over the flat with his snoot right under the transducer.

I have several friends/customers that are absolute hammers at the FFS game, and here's what they tell me....... The answer is TIMING. You gotta figure out their schedule. And it can be different from spot to spot by as much as 2-3 hours. And that schedule might change if the weather or water conditions change. Do NOT set there and keep pounding at them repeatedly with various presentations and baits if they aren't positively responding. Just go away for a bit and keep coming back and testing them briefly (only 2-3 good casts) every couple hours. Eventually they'll fire and you will have a chance (a 30 minute to 1.5 hour window) to load the boat in short order. And oddly enough it probably won't matter what bait you are throwing, as long as it is getting close enough to them. But if you sit there and keep repeatedly throwing at them when they aren't ready yet..... you'll screw the pooch. They'll either move away or stay in a funk all day. The most frustrating part, for tournament anglers, is that the VERY BEST time is typically an hour or so after most tournament weigh-in's are over. 😅 They'd love to be there while everyone is standing in a weigh-in line or loading their boats back onto trailers.

In some cases yes, but the KJ Bible is the word that most all Christian religions go by. Interpretation can vary to a degree, but individually everyone pretty much comes to their own conclusion regardless of what church they go to. That is IF the person actually READS the bible. You'd probably be surprised at the number of devout Christians that have NEVER actually read the bible themselves. They merely get their knowledge of it through the snippets spewed by their preacher/pastor during Sunday services. They'll freely lie about that and aggressively deny that they haven't studied the bible too......even when it's undeniably obvious. I was a believer most of my life until I did a REAL independent study of the bible. I had to do it, cover-to-cover, 3 times (2 1/2 actually) because I thought that maybe I screwed up.....or misinterpreted something critical. It's my opinion that Mental health is more important than physical health in the grand scheme of things. If your thoughts and beliefs are twisted then the condition of your physical body is redundant.

No, you can breathe underwater and everyone will be able to swim no matter what. It's impossible to have a fatal accident of any kind once you get there. Even if you overturn a canoe in the middle of the ocean you'll be fine. Sharks don't eat people in heaven, so just tread water until the next angel flys by.

Lacking planes, trains, or automobiles in heaven, I suppose you'll be limited to fishing only places that are within walking distance. If there are fishing rods, fly line, and tackle, then guess what else will be in heaven? Factories! Factories filled with WORKERS who will eventually grow sick of their JOBS...... I mean we're talking eternity here, remember? I mean, I suppose that all the factories full of miserable bastards could be in hades.....and the goods exported to heaven for the holy ones to use. Instead of "made in China"......they will be "made in Hades". But wait.... you'll never own anything, because material possessions are highly frowned upon. Don't think for a minute that you'll own a really sweet 9' for 5 flyrod that you just love to fish with, or polarized shades. Nah, I'm reasonably certain that if heaven is real.....then there won't be any sport fishing going on. And there darn sure won't be any hunting. And if you think that maybe you can initiate a new sport while in heaven that consists of pestering the heavenly animals..... consider this...... You've got to get 144,000 individual rulers to all give you their blessings first. Fat chance, Homie! 🙄 So whaddya wanna do for all eternity, besides just sit there, taking in the beauty, and not bothering anything? You can't even sit there and whittle on a stick.....unless you can whittle with your teeth & fingernails. No pocket knives for sure. After about 160 years, what are you and your dad & grandpa gonna have to talk about ? 🤔 I'm trying really hard to not be a smartass or make anybody mad, but have any of y'all ever thought any of this through at all ?

But yet God favored them, and let all those Christians perish.....and their families grieve. It must have been a psychology experiment. A test of faith......yeeeeah that's the ticket 👍 "Sing my praises as I piss in your face. And if you stop singing...... Eternal damnation! 😅 You know I'm just having fun here, right? 😘
