  1. Looks like paradise to me. 👍
  2. If they are visibly cruising, a strip of fur with a deer hair head worked just under the surface, is alot of fun.
  3. Yeah that whole rope business.....🙄 Nah, been there/done that, it ain't for me. IMO the best way to catch gar is WITH A HOOK. A small one. #6 or #8 is sufficient. A #10-12 is possibly better if they aren't bigguns.
  4. That would kinda explain how it spared so many houses and picked mostly on trees and power poles.
  5. We came in the back way from Independence Rd. to A, and it cut one hell of a path through there. Wasn't anything "micro" about that "burst". 2 miles wide, and about 5-6 miles long from what I could tell. Lots of trees and power line damage. It looked like Racer dudes new barn caught the worst of it, as far as structure damage, and those people with all the campers out in the open field along 64 don't even know how lucky they were. How did it not just decimate that place? It's amazing how those storms can do that. The one that took my place in '06 destroyed EVERYTHING, but spared a stupid fancy china cabinet full of wine/champaign glasses Not even a scratch on that ignorant thing. 🙄
  6. A rod that is under-lined will throw shock waves on the forward stroke on a cast of 30'-35' as the tip shakes up & down. (Not enough weight to settle the tip down). A rod that is over-lined will not have enough power to shoot line very well or control loops beyond 30-35'. Since most trout fishing is done inside of 30'-35' a trout rod will usually cast best if over-lined by 1-2 line weights. The weight difference on lines from 2 to 6wt. is 20 gr. (Slightly under 1/16oz.) So if you want to feel how a trout rod will load at 30'-35' with the next size heavier line.....just tape a 1/16oz. crappie jig to the middle of the upper half of the rod blank. Then there is a 25gr. increase from 6 to 7, A 30gr. increase from 7 to 8. A 40gr. increase from 8 to 9, and from 9 to 10.
  7. Looks like a twister touched down for about 2 miles along 64. I've talked to a few folks and they are saying it was just some wicked straight line winds. But it looks more like tornado damage to me.
  8. @oneshot What the hell happened down here last night?
  9. Right on ! I wanna see that bug. 🙂
  10. Missed you by a day. Gotta drop off powerhead blocks at the machine shop tomorrow morning, then headed down to the stream to piddle the day away. Glad you had fun with your new/old toys. 👍
  11. Anyone in the area would be happy to do it.......for the right amount of money. Finding someone trustworthy to do it for 20 bucks is always going to be a challenge.
  12. The problem with some of the older good knives is that while they may keep an edge longer......it is a genuine process to restore the edge when it does get rounded off. And it most certainly will, even if you are only cutting skin, hair, or trotline cord. I have come to truly appreciate knives with edges that can be brought back into service with just a few strokes across a rock, or the corner of a file handle. Plus, they are inexpensive enough that I can carry 3 of them if need be.
  13. Then ask HER why she isn't taking it. 🙂
  14. Once the power grid goes down, and computers can't tell anyone what to do anymore, the goody-two-shoes from the churches will release all the prisoners, and start caring for hospital and nursing home patients. While the rednecks are raiding convenience stores , bars and liquor stores the prisoners will immediately raid all the hospitals, nursing homes, and pharmacies...... because they are the only ones that realize where all the truly beneficial stuff is. And they'll use THAT to aquire everything else it takes to bring society back to life. Yep, the ones that have had nothing to do besides sit and think for several years are the ones who will be the new rulers. And in the end, things will be running way better than they are NOW. Guarantee it.
  15. Statistically, more people survive being shot, than survive being stabbed. A judo/taekwondo instructor who lacked a spleen told us that.
  16. No active Stream Team in existence? Where's the MDC ? "Conservation" is their purpose still, right? Or not?
  17. Dude, you're going through a phase. Seen it many times, and have gone through it myself. It'll pass. 👍
  18. Yet another example of the problems of over-population. There will be much more to worry about than simply keeping your family warm and fed.
  19. Don't anyone bother to bring me dinner tonight though. There's burger thawing on the counter, and it has been announced that we are having meatloaf. If you're hungry dinner is at 7:45
  20. Oh! Free marriage counseling! Being a member of this forum has such cool benefits! 😁

    Rub

Nothing grosses me out worse than a wet slimy piece of animal fat in my mouth. If it's fat then it needs to be crispy like bacon or a pork rind.
  22. Your point was that it would benefit me to be fake, and pretend to be someone else. I don't feel like that's good advice at all. Do none of us know who the real Pete is? 🤔 Who are you, and what have you done with Pete? 😡 Am I really so hard to take that y'all wish I would pretend to be someone else? Sorry 🤷‍♂️ not gonna happen. 😁
  23. You couldn't be more confused. Society, AND RELATIONSHIPS, would be much better if everyone spoke their mind instead of putting on, and maintaining, a facade. I can admit defeat as soon as I TRULY FEEL that I have been defeated. Or when the will to win has vanished for one reason or another. She can leave anytime she wants to. 🙂

    Rub

So, if you're hunting for food, do you want a big buck, or a fat tender doe ? Why's everyone always scouting for scrapes and rubs ? 🤔

No I totally believe ya. I figured it wasn't the way it was butchered or cooked. That was the only clarification I was looking for. That there was no such thing as a "good cut"....... First it's gotta be a "good cow"!
