Sad news. Sorry Phil ๐ I hope he went peacefully. -
Yep, I'm a late August baby, and I used to sing this one to my parents ๐

P Line Flouro Clear
fishinwrench replied to TRRANGER's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Flouroclear is actually a "co-polimer" which means that if you stretch it real good it can separate. When overly stretched it will curl up and possibly loose some strength. I use P-Line CX Premium (which is also a co-polimer) for bass fishing and love it because it's fairly limp, yet the abrasion resistance is excellent, and knot strength is great. You just have to inspect it occasionally and cut out any crazy curly sections. I have used Flouroclear in 6# for crappie fishing but I prefer the CX Premium for reasons I can't really explain. P-Line CXX is crazy stiff.....Low stretch but too much memory for my taste.....but it is tough as hell. I'd recommend staying away from that stuff. -
Weren't we originally told that is where COVID came from ? "A pangolin ate a bat"....or some crazyness like that ๐

What's variable about spending money like crazy and operating on credit.....with little to no income? It doesn't take much studying to determine where that'll get ya. ๐ค I'll tell you one thing for certain.....When you see a pro fisherman spending 3-4 hours per day creating and editing a YT video, it's because they NEED MORE MONEY.....and they are desperate. "Please PLEASE subscribe!" -

Things in the competitive fishing realm are way different now than they were back when there were only 2-3 "Pro's" per STATE. Now there are a dozen in every TOWN. And when I see what they are fishing out of, and towing it with......I can't help but wonder how the hell they are funding that, and yet can still afford to support a family. Because they aren't in the check line nowhere near often enough. -

Boat payment, Truck payment, Fuel costs, Insurance payments, Lodging costs, Entry fees, And TIME.. My prediction is that only about 15% of those that are chasing that dream will be able to avoid divorce & bankruptcy within the next decade. -

Not to worry, the whole concept of competitive fishing as a career choice is on its way out. And the number of individuals willing to invest in it as merely a "hobby" will be crashing soon thereafter. -

Somewhere around 2001-2004 our beloved biologists were injecting a sizable number of walleye, either below Wappapelo or Clearwater (or both), with some growth hormone. Ask your buddies if they are still doing that. ๐ I doubt that you'll get an honest answer......but I question their statement that the Walleye there are being considered as a "different species". They should know darn well ! I wouldn't want to be eating them, that's for sure. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10915504/at

Rejetted ? Can you explain that to me please. JFTR increasing or decreasing the high speed orifice in the carbs should only be done to compensate for changes in elevation. There's zero performance advantage otherwise.....and it can actually deminish performance by fouling plugs and accelerating carbon buildup, if oversized jets are installed.....Or by increasing combustion chamber temperature (eventually melting a piston), if a lesser jet size is installed. There ARE ways to increase performance on those 9.9-15 HP motors (Hotrod them).....but doing so significantly decreases their lifespan.

Those Yamaha Pro 50's were darn good outboards. It should be a crime that factory support on parts for them are going away. Whatever remains on dealer shelves today is all that is left. And parts for the predecessor of the Pro Series (known as the Precision Blend series) are already completely obsolete. Tilt/trim components are obsolete. Oil injection components are NLA.....and sadly you cannot convert a Yamaha to run pre-mix fuel, because the oil isn't metered into the fuel....it is injected through the intake manifold. No more pistons, rings, or reeds.....So sadly the powerheads aren't rebuildable anymore ๐ Lower unit seal kits are available, but if you need gears, clutch, shafts, or bearings.... you're out of luck. The biggest problem with all Japanese made outboards is that they are all designed with the assumption that they will be used in Saltwater...... therefore are only expected to last about 10 years max. And sadly Mercury has taken the same path. Nothing mechanical can last very long in a saltwater environment.... that's just a fact. ๐คทโโ๏ธ Evinrude/Johnson was the ONLY outboard manufacturer who designed motors for freshwater use.....and designed them to last. And BRP has promised to continue that support. Parts are still available for J/E outboards dated all the way back to the 1950's, with very few exceptions.

I've never felt comfortable in any style of kayak. Too low to read water good, too low to see objects under the surface. And all of the paddling muscles are between the shoulders. Ruddering feels awkward to me also. 100% a canoe guy when it comes to paddle craft..
