I have before, right here and elsewhere, concerning patterns that I have basically designed. I didn't invent the craft of fly tying. If I can learn it then everyone else can too. You wanna learn Crackleback.....Ed Story is on YT. You wanna learn Woollybugger......Russell Blessing is too. These are things a REAL IT guy should be saying to you.

The most hilarious thing about internet forums is whenever one guy starts bitching about something......Others start bitching about people bitching. 😂

The reason why I'm bashing is the same reason why you're bashing me FOR BASHING.

I did that once. It cost my parents about 3k in lawyer fees and almost landed me in jail before I had even finished high school. I assumed that some secret prep work was involved there. Like I've told ya in the past.....I attempted cooking ducks myself several times, and it turned out to be "survival food". Not anything I was looking forward to doing again. I wouldn't say it was "ruined"... but I'd have certainly traded it for a big fat cheeseburger. Easy now, Karen, I wasn't belittling anyone. Eat whatever you want. I was just answering your question as to why I personally don't do it more often than I already do......Which is actually more than you likely assume. I just don't immediately call you, or jump on here and tell y'all about it everytime I do.

Like I said, BH..... Would you feel the same about hunting and/or gun handling advice? Bet not. So just because it's FISHING the MDC should be ok with printing and spreading advice from just anybody? Was there any mention about sunglasses and eye protection while fly fishing? If you wanna be helpful (a "mentor" to use your words) to someone just getting into the sport then begin by teaching them the IMPORTANT stuff. Be responsible about it, or send them in a direction where you know they'll get QUALITY advice. If an IT guy wants to give fly tying advice.....Then just suggest one of the many TRULY GOOD YouTube channels....and save the ink and paper that YOU and I are paying for.

You mean fished/hunted.....then cooked and eaten? I do more than my fair share, but it isn't always a balls-out stellar adventure, followed by an eclectic cooking ordeal worthy of impressing anyone with. Besides, some critters out there aren't really worth the trouble unless I'm broke and on the verge of starvation. Wild Turkey?....no thanks. Ducks & Geese?.....hell anything soaked/marinated and prepped in that fashion is gonna be tasty and make a fine turd....even a crow or buzzard would do. It only took 1.5 hours of working on somebody else's boat to fund a double-feast for 8 this week....and we're still picking at delicious leftovers. 😊 Do 1.5 hours in the woods and even if you score good..... you've still gotta go to the grocery store to supplement the meal. So....? 🤷 I'll save all of that "livin' off the land" business for the times when going to the grocery store isn't an option anymore.

I just can't let it go. The MDC is like a spoiled kid that gets a 2500.00 per week allowance, and it's like you're a jackass if you say anything dirogatory about them because.....Hey, at least they take out the trash once a week, and did pick a sock up off the floor a couple months ago. Give me a freakin' break! The entire organization could take a 3 year vacation and nobody would even notice their absence.

Well for someone having a keen interest and enthusiasm for it....he isn't catching on very fast at all. Any IT professional should know where to get good instructions for things like that. I'd put just about any 12 year old kid up against those efforts.

Oh it's not ME. My wife is a Christmas freak but I'm really not into it at all. Actually my wife is into anything that involves spending money and decorating the entire house. She goes all out at every single holiday.

I'd give credit for intention and spirit if they'd publish a deer hunting piece of the same caliber.....and get somebody killed. Honestly the only thing keeping the current issue from being tossed in the trash is the cool pic of the bird dog, waiting for a biscuit, on the cover.

Well it was a stellar turkey day, and plenty to be thankful for, for sure. But now....... Yikes! 😳 I'm just gonna sit in the kitchen and get drunk while all of THIS is going on. 🙄

Yeah, I dislike poking/prodding anyone that is getting into flyfishing..... I'm sure he's a good guy, but I'm a bit taken back by the MDC claiming he is an avid fly fisherman and tyer.

Can't speak to Honda specifically.... but typically it is an enrichment valve controlled by a thermistor, and installed within the intake manifold. It feeds bits of raw fuel until the engine warms up to 120-140 degrees.
-
Those flutter valve throttle contraptions on single cylinder Briggs, Tecumseh, ect. motors defy everything I know about small engines. For the life of me I can't get a grasp on how and why that rediculousness works......but somehow it does.

If it will run with the choke on.... but dies when you un-choke it, then the fuel metering jet is clogged up. Remove the air/fuel metering screw (needle valve) and give that hole a few strong blasts of carb cleaner, then reinstall the needle valve (screw it all the way in until it seats.....then back it off 1 1/2 turns). Once you have it running and warmed up you can tweak that valve 1/4 - 1/2 turn to get the best idle.

As an "avid angler" with a background in Information Technology, wouldn't you expect him to know that a Crackle hackle is 5 turns? Of all the fly fishermen/tyers available at MDC......is this not somewhat embarrassing?
-
What exactly have we got going on here? Ya reckon that sunfish totally wrecked his schitt.....and he dove in to recover it? Or did he actually catch it on a worm, shove a wooly worm tied to a piece of mono in its face to stage this "featured photo"? Something tells me that all the photographer was concerned with was that his fingernails looked ok. That photo might have flew better in a copy of Cosmopolitan. And lastly.....Who makes that gray/yellow WF-5-F line? Cuz I want one. Mr.Pat Rigby is gonna "elevate your game"! 👍

The aesthetics of a rustic wooden bridge are totally negated by those hideous contraptions designed to block RV's from traveling over it. Wouldn't a pair of wooden poles with a rope across them been sufficient? I mean WTF? 🙄
-
Is it a 2-wire or 3-wire pump motor? If it's a 2-wire motor then you need to replace BOTH relays (they work in unison... simply reversing polarity) So you'll still hear the "click" but both - and + circuits are not being completed in that direction. If it's a 3-wire motor then you'll need to test voltage (at the motor) with a multimeter or test light to verify whether or not a circuit in the motor BLUE circuit is broken. (Blue/sky/up....Green/grass/down) and they share a common ground which is obviously good if it moves in any one direction.

It's prime for a dryfly bite when it's low and clear. And I want some of that ! 😊

Ahh, gotcha. Thanks. I'm going to run down and hit the stretch from Sand Spring to the island as soon as I can sneak away for a day.

The hwy.64 bridge is closed? Or the lower park bridge is closed?

I'm no biologist (🙄) but septic leakage is heavy and collects along the bottom. Surface runoff from fertilized lawns might contribute to surface plankton blooms, but only during heavy rain periods. Deep structure fishermen have this mental image of clean rocky bottoms.... but that truly doesn't exist on LO below 15-18ft. The floor of this lake, at depths unaffected by wave action, is buried under a thick accumulation of silty sludge. Imagine a landscape after a heavy drifting snowstorm and THAT is what it resembles down there. Even though your electronics might show a distinguishable rocky bottom with abrupt dropoffs, you can be assured that your 1oz. football jig is POOFING ALONG through a foot or more of accumulated snot.
