  1. Well, if the lake that it is a feeder to fluctuates wildly (like Truman does) then there's your answer. I fish the Lake O tributaries alot, and things have certainly changed since Ameren took over. Back when UE managed the lake level all of the feeder creeks fished differently (better) with the exception of the Niangua and Little Niangua.....which both have "dams" that help sustain a decent average gradient through the year, and prevent mass migration. Alot of guys wanna blame OTTERS.....but it isn't just otters..... which I very seldom see BTW πŸ™„ Birds of prey probably get more bass than any otters do, especially when the streams are at low levels. The fact that you're catching channel cat tells ME that you're a good bit less than 3 miles from the lake. Am I right?
  2. Yeah, a fast and easily maneuverable canoe is no place for a 100lb. Labrador with a horsefly pestering him. That's a good way to loose a bunch of gear. πŸ˜…
  3. I studied the Mad River line awhile back, and they are super good canoes. More designed for secondary stability (faster) than what I personally prefer..... because I have a dog. πŸ˜…
  4. So..... it's a tributary of Truman lake ? πŸ€”
  5. I probably shouldn't post this publicly, but a portable outboard is a PORTABLE OUTBOARD! You are required to carry a copy of the BOAT REGISTRATION but that registration has no mention of what motor pushes it. A portable outboard burrowed from a friend in another state (including states that do not title outboards) is perfectly legal, as far as I know. Are you following me here?
  6. Have you covered a sizable portion of said creek ? 2 streams that I know of in the northern portion of the state have truly good bass fishing....but the good stretches are the ONLY place where you're likely to catch a bass (LM & SM). It has to do with the orientation (N-S-E-W) and the bottom composition.
  7. In my opinion (and we know how much weight that carries) Anyone that can't take an occasional ribbing from a group of fishing buddies without getting his/her feelings hurt...... probably shouldn't be hanging out here.
  8. Above the water surface I can only hear a ticking transducer if I am less than 6ft. away. I think it's obvious that his mic results are amplified drastically, but nevertheless we will likely never know how well fish can hear.....or which fish hear better than others. An interesting observation that I've confirmed personally is that Carp & Buffalo are more easily spooked with a trolling motor than they are with an outboard.
  9. They'll suffocate a Coleman lantern in no time at all, on the Salt river. Those particular mayflys are "burrowers", and if your in an area that has a sandy/silty bottom it's not uncommon to have literal blanket hatches when the conditions are just right. You might expect the fishing to be GREAT....but typically it's just the opposite. I think even the fish get overwhelmed.
  10. Oh yeah! About this time every year on the middle portion of the Salt River. It's pretty gross ! I've camped through it before. Tents, trees, and cars covered like that the morning after. So thick you can smell them.
  11. I toyed with the idea of an articulated Crease fly, but never actually created one.
  12. This is definitely true.....and it's frustrating as hell. If you have a friend/relative at the license bureau they can make anything happen without a hitch. But if you don't they will 100% try to ruin your day.
  13. I was thinking about this again over the weekend. One difference might be in the knots. I'm not using a loop knot ever, and you use them all the time. Could the loop knot give it more freedow to get things moving? Probably πŸ€” Next time I tie one on I'll cinch it down and see if that's the culprit. Good thought.
  14. Coffee Grinders even πŸ‘ Looking good!!!
  15. Just for the record, my state voted the way that I would have. So my choice to not participate in the voting game had no effect whatsoever on the outcome. Same deal on the upcoming one.
  16. I'm the opposite of a "tough guy". If a doctor tells me I have a serious ailment that I'm not aware of..... I'll worry myself to death over it, and my quality of life goes to $#!t. So I'd prefer to not know, and just flop.
  17. True that. There's days that I'd pay you that (including drive time) just to come hang out here all day.
  18. Well hellπŸ™„ The fact that you woke up, and still knew where the bathroom and the coffee pot was, should have made you feel like you were still in good health. Why did you need to pay someone else to tell you? And don't say "it didn't cost anything"..... because YES IT DID ! It cost all of us.
  19. Name, Address, Phone number? Good luck, brother πŸ‘
  20. I dunno, but having corn to fill those bags should be the ONLY reason to utilize corn. πŸ™„
  21. My dog loves the trimmings when I clean White bass & Hybrids. Makes his farts toxic as hell !
  22. Hey, Badminton made me a better fly caster. That old 10 to 2 crap is for the birds! πŸ‘
  23. I'd say that Pickleball is to blame. Once a dude takes up pickleball they seem to lose their desire to seriously fish, or even talk about fishing. A few I know have even sold their boats. There's a couple of douchebags on here that I'm anxious to see join a Pickleball league. πŸ˜… Babler certainly wasn't one of them though.😒
  24. 100% πŸ‘ I've had to stand on my fingers a dozen times, to keep from questioning the faith you appear to have in your doctors.....But I know if I go there I'll get piled on by this bunch of politically correct nimrods.πŸ™„ Regardless, I hope that you're doing (and allowing) what you truly feel is the best for YOU.
