    What's Cooking?

Rueben, steak fries, and baked (slightly burnt) brussel sprouts tonite.
  2. Only once, and it just barely lapped at the underpinning of a few. When this lake gets that high people with influence loose their minds.
  3. The world is bull of basturds, the number increasing rapidly the further one gets from Gravois Mills Missouri.
  4. You can call those "channel swings" if you want, but the channel in those mainlake areas are deeper than a bass will ever go. Actual current in Lake O is never deeper than 15ft. anywhere, and you can be assured that everything deeper than that is completely covered in a thick blanket of silt and sediment. The mental picture you probably have of fish hanging on a clean distinct pile of rocks around an old stump in 25-30+ foot of water on Lake O is a fallacy. That 3/4oz. jig of yours is completely buried in a poof of feathery yuck as soon as your line goes slack. The bottom contour looks just like your neighborhood after 10" of drifting snow.
  5. I'm totally unfamiliar with Pickwick, but you have 2 young men and 1 middle aged man in that boat, 3 cell phones, a trolling motor, and a paddle. To allege that they couldn't keep the boat from getting sucked over the edge long enough for help to arrive is just......I dunno. Guess you just had to be there. Do we know what kinda boat/motor it was?
  6. That fly kills everywhere. The size of the fly, the shade of "olive", and whether they want it dead drifted or will eat it on the swing, are all you need to figure out. I often wonder why I even bother carrying anything else in my boxes.

    What's Cooking?

While I'm bragging about children that are becoming Go-Getters.....My favorite fishing buddy just got a full time offer from an engineering firm in the city. She's so proud of herself she's gonna be unbearable for awhile.

    What's Cooking?

I asked her why she thought the deer jaw was worth so much, and her answer was: "Don't you realize what all you'd have to go through to get one of those?" She has a point there. ๐Ÿค” That's MY girl ๐Ÿ˜

    What's Cooking?

You buy the deer jaw for 15.00 and I think I can persuade her to throw in the turtle shell for free. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

    What's Cooking?

My youngest kids favorite thing to do when she gets kicked off her iPad and told to get off her butt and out of the house....is to go roam the woods around here and "treasure hunt", because ever since the tornado came through there are random "items" still scattered about. One time she came home packing a badly weathered, but unopened, half pint of cherry vodka ๐Ÿ˜ณ.....so we had to have a talk about what was ok to pick up and put in her sack. Anyway, here is the treasures from her trip last weekend. I bought the dog leash from her for 5.00, but I refused to give her 2.00 for the turtle shell. She actually wants 15.00 for the deer jaw, and 1.00 for the golf ball..... if anyone is interested. ๐Ÿ˜…

    What's Cooking?

No! There's no more room in our cabinets or on our countertops for ANY more cooking gadgets. I'm currently sending everything that is useless and taking up space to @BilletHead ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  13. I read the transcript from the latest park meeting. Sounds like they have a pretty good number of 13-14 inchers, enough to last until August, then they'll be tossing in strictly 12 inchers from then until November. Discussion of river stockings were briefly danced around and they changed the subject quickly, so I'd say they are cutting back there. ๐Ÿ™„ 2020 will be the last year of the swimming pool. Someone brought up how stupid and ugly their contraptions at the wooden bridge and lower entrance was....and again the subject was changed immediately without response. ๐Ÿ˜…

    What's Cooking?

It was excellent! I ate 3 piles of it along with a giant croissant roll. The FARTS though! Whew! Good Lord! ๐Ÿคญ
  15. I probably shouldn't say this out loud....but I think it's time to reconsider who takes these kids out for the events. I have a feeling that anyone with a boat is considered "qualified".
  16. Understandable though, right? Considering the background, and the realm of public knowledge.
  17. OMG! How far from the dam is the weigh-in area ? Somebody made a bad judgement call. ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ

    What's Cooking?

    What's Cooking?

I think I may have slightly screwed up the rice. It resembles mashed potatoes. ๐Ÿคจ I followed the instructions, but I'm used to minute rice and this stuff acts different. Oh well, it'll eat.

    What's Cooking?

Our first try at Gumbo tonight. Sure smells good! https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/216888/good-new-orleans-creole-gumbo/?utm_source=smsshare Do you put the rice in it....or dish it out over a bed of rice? I think I prefer the later.
  21. Does to me too! I'm confused.
  22. Was the park not closed yesterday?
  23. In the river, or in the park ?
  24. You'd better delete that evidence ! ๐Ÿ˜ Fly only in the park.
  25. That's good to hear. I'm surprised they did that so close to the park opening day. Cool beans ๐Ÿ‘ How'd the smallie fishing go?
