I need to get off these Marlboro's so I can still be riding my bike at 78 What a guy! RIP 😔
-
It's a sweet boat. Worth every dime of his asking price. Deck is big enough to square dance on. 👍

I ain't here to make any assumptions...but if me and sugarbritches get in a hot tub and she starts discussing the weather, that might be a sign that I am a bit too relaxed. 😁 On a more serious note, yeah I'm pretty tired of this rain. I don't think we've had 6 straight days without some significant precip all Summer long. Ground water (spring flow) shouldn't be an issue for quite some time.

If they are going to lengthen the season then their feet should be held to the fire to POLICE IT. And I mean ACTUALLY do it. 😐 Since when do they alter regulations because some folks giving "feedback" requested it ? When? Name one friggin' example of that ever happening before.
-
Yeah me either. I find it real hard to believe that giggers are big into giving "public feedback". Moreso than river bass guys???? BS! That's an outright lie, and I'll never be convinced otherwise.
-
I'm reasonably sure that you can. They aren't going to to officially announce that C&R snagging (trolling with a bare hook) is legal year round.....but I don't see how it can not be. So go for it.
-
Do you think it would be better to say that "Game Fish cannot be gigged" instead of just saying that game fish cannot be TAKEN ? Apparently there either isn't enough PUBLIC FEEDBACK expressing concerns about game fish being gigged, or the feedback being given is being ignored.

Boy me too! I didn't truly start enjoying fishing until I quit making a living at it. Nothing sucks worse than being broke and having to pretend that you're not.

Crankbait Hook Replacement
fishinwrench replied to rps's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Do you guys really miss, or lose, fish on crankbaits and topwater baits when using the stock hooks and split rings ? I find the stock hooks and rings on most everything I use sufficient. Occasionally I may touch up the points with a stone, but for the most part hook upgrades are something I hardly ever mess with. -
Hmm, well either Lake Sun posted false info or someone else has now drowned near the same place. Not sure what's going on. One source says he jumped off the top of a cabin cruiser, and another reports someone drowning that jumped off a floating mat.
-
That's true for most fishing boats, but a V8 I/O will go down like a rock.
-
Well it was all called off early today after a spectator jumped in the water and never resurfaced. Word is they just recovered his body and the show goes on tomorrow. 😔

Somebody needs to tell Jake that pulling bilge plugs is even quieter than "Silenced hole saws". 😉

Yeah I'd question the guage that was used. Anything 90+psi is fine as long as they are all within 15% of each other. The thing with compression tests is that PEAK compression isn't necessarily what you should be looking for. On each cylinder give it the same number of compression strokes, and record THAT number. Even a cylinder with sloppy rings will pump the compression up....given enough strokes. Since 15% is the magic number I divide that by 3 and give each cylinder 5 full compression strokes and record THAT number. By doing that you are not only testing compression but you are also testing leak-down at the same time. By cranking it over until the guage peaks out you really aren't learning anything about the overall health of the powerhead. Since you have a easy start, smooth idle, strong hole shot, and a good top end..... I'd say you're fine. What more can you ask from an outboard?
-
Yeah he should have just told you to FIX IT ASAP and let it slide since everything else SAFETY WISE was good. But there are incintives to write as many citations as possible.....and that's what was probably going on there.

No 450's at Sims Marine, and I currently have 5 weeks of work ahead of me, so I must disagree. 😉

What is this on 95 Johnson 150
fishinwrench replied to Will S.'s topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Since I can't find a helper that I can be happy with, I'm the only one that touches tools around here. So if something comes up missing I immediately know who to blame. 🤔 -
Let's not get over-technical here. 🙄

Thank you! You can't do good work in a messy shop with piles of crap laying everywhere. -

You guys STFU ! 😋 It is a LIFT RING. You also have a loop cast into the block on the starboard rear. You hook this here chain to it And that's how you pull a 60° looper powerhead, or lift a 60° looper motor with a hoist. -
The whole "Blue Line" thing is lost on me, I have 3 cop friends and an inlaw that's a deputy, but still I can't help but roll my eyes when somebody goes off on a tangent about how their job is so dangerous and how they put their life on the line EVERYDAY. That's such BS. They have all the latest greatest weapons and toys, have the best training available, have immediate access to data on everyone, can have immediate backup if they need it, AND they have the authority to just shoot you if you don't do what they say. Plus they have the choice to back off and save their own posterior if they lack the confidence to proceed. How is THAT any more dangerous than being a truck driver, a marine mechanic, or a clerk at a convenience store ? If a cop gets killed on the JOB it's because he/she made a mistake. If I make a mistake on my job I can be killed just as quickly. The ones that I know personally don't get extra respect from me because they are cops, they get respect and friend status because they are good dudes. I'd love them just the same if they were shoe salesmen. And I do give them a hard time for turning a blind eye toward the ones they know or work with that do things against their oath. They ALL do that, and that's why there are bad cops out there. If they ALL honored their oath then a bad cop wouldn't last 2 weeks on ANY department. But I understand if you don't help cover asses then you soon find yourself unemployed. The system is broke and unfixable.
-
Some shakey heads and such don't have the right angle for texposing. If they don't then I rip the plastic (so the hook point can easily come out) and bury it.
-
Seems to me that they spend that kinda money just so they can haul their broke friends around to visit lakeside bars, and feel like a bigshot. That's all I ever see them doing. When all the bars are closed you don't see them on the lake at all.
-
Gonna be an easterly wind over the weekend, so since the fishing is probably gonna suck they can have the whole lake as far as I'm concerned.
