  1. I've never heard anyone say "oh crap I'm almost out of line conditioner, need to get some more asap".
  2. You tell Kent that I said he stole it from Charlie. He'll get a chuckle out of that. Actually I bet that Mike Ross stole it from Charlie, and Kent stole it from Mike.
  3. Pretty much, yeah It created an opportunity for some ambitious little fisher person to get into a nice boat pretty cheap, so I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy about it.
  4. Dang millennials! Can't get them to do anything.
  5. Looks pretty comfortable to me.
  6. I'm no chemist but I know that the only thing you can put on mono or flouro that will lessen it's memory is steaming hot water. There's lots of things you could put on it that will make it slicker (for a minute or two), but what good is does having your line slick and smooth for 8-12 casts do, unless your fishing trips are REALLY short?
  7. Oh goodie, a reliable sub-contractor! I so need one of those.
  8. If you ask Charlie Reading he'll tell you it was his and someone stole it from him.
  9. I got busy and it got too cold to install carpet or this one would be done. As it sets now it's gonna be another 2 months before I get back to working on it....and I'd just as soon be out from under it and move on. It would be a great project boat for someone that enjoys that kinda stuff. I have a '91 Merc 150XR2 for it that is ready to be put together.
  10. 1989 18 ft. single console. This is THE boat that made everyone fall in love with Champion's.
  11. Oneshot, look into a Towee http://toweemarine.com/ Not only is it the perfect rig for the places you like to fish, you'd be sitting on something your kids will fight tooth and nail over after you're gone.
  12. If you're capable of doing quality work, a boat can be a decent investment. Buy them used, fix them up RIGHT, use them awhile, then when you come across another one that you like... sell the current one for more than you have invested in it. I haven't lost a dime on a boat since I was 22, and I've never been without at least 2 of them. Even the 2 that I lost in the tornado paid for themselves. Speaking of which....Who wants to take this Champion off my hands this week? Just needs carpet and a few extremely minor things. I sold the motor off of it and am in the mood to dump the project so I can start on a different one. Boat/trailer/trolling motor/electronics.....make me an offer.
  13. That's what I'm talking about. I don't believe in all that other stuff most of ya are looking forward to, so live your life like that's all there is.

    What's Cooking?

Oh man! I'm not gonna be right until I have a pickle wrap, or three.
  16. What you need to do is start hanging out at the bar, coming home drunk every other night and pissing on the furniture. Then when she comes at you with the fire poker you tell her that if you had a boat you'd have something better to do with your free time. Then maybe y'all could spend some quality time together thumbing through the classifieds. Make it into an intervention.
  17. I say, sell the ones you aren't using and buy one that you will. Or sell them all and forget it. No sense in paying property tax on a boat that never gets used. A 1648 is a "do it all" boat, it can do river or lake duty, and if it turns out you don't love it then it's easy to sell.
  18. That's quite a pile-up. It did seem like a slimier than normal snow. Area's that just looked "slightly dusted" were like greased marble.

    What's Cooking?

Anybody got a recipe for these ?
  21. I said I wasn't gonna go there, but I changed my mind. The Game Coyote .25 is definitely on my radar. Not sure how much longer I can resist it.
  22. I thought the crank wraps were like heat shrink wrap. No? If not they should be.
  23. The average fisherman puts in considerably more time behind the helm (in a years time) than pleasure boaters do, so in all actuality they SHOULD be better at it. Especially since running a bass boat takes more skill than plowing up the lake in a 30' I/O or a 26' Tri-toon.
  24. Shoulda guessed that a group of wise-assed biologists started it all.
  25. I was raised by old time river men, albeit it wasn't before "fish and game". Plenty of experience with trammel nets, my dad, grandad and I have had to cut big holes in them after getting them wadded up on the prop of an outboard numerous times when I was younger. I've watched commercial fishermen run their nets and never saw anything in them but catfish, buffalo and drum. Never once saw a bass in one. Only thing I've ever gigged is bullfrogs, but I've watched fish giggers and it doesn't look too complicated, pretty sure I could get proficient at it overnight, just never had the desire to.
