  1. As for #1..... Tournament fishing isn't just about the fishing, it's also MAINLY about dealing with the elements. #2 seems pretty obvious, the guy made a bad choice and headed out over water that was above his skill level, or he overestimated the ability of his boat. He gambled and lost. I've wanted to fish "over there" plenty of times, and have had to make the choice not to because of the conditions. The decision gets harder to make when your career or livelihood depends on it. The big O looks and acts like an ocean when you come out of those protected canals, I've witnessed it. She's not a friendly pond by any means.
  2. The HP screwed their own pooch. Since they decided to only charge him with a low level misdemeanor then by law he deserves to get all of his back pay, his lawyer fees covered, his full pension, and his job restored...if he wants it. He's got them by the balls now. You'd think he'd be kissing their feet and thanking his lucky stars.....but the fact of the matter is that he truly is that big of an arrogant douchenozzle with no remorse whatsoever.
  3. Yeah I saw the video of it when the boat was found. Light pole was still in, light switch was in the ON position, and passengers rods still sitting next to the passenger seat....so it didn't flip. It appears that it happened early, probably in the fog, soon after take-off. It was 38° at take-off.
  4. The buckskin thong has to stay on or else the hens start pecking.
  5. Not completely, I have my underwear on.
  6. I love the feel of the sun on my skin, I actually start feeling yucky if I go awhile without it. The sun is the #1 reason that there is life on Earth. I'm skeptical that it is the sun that is causing all of the skin "cancer" we have nowadays. It is more likely all the other crap that we expose ourselves to. Many folks shower everyday in treated city water, spray cologne all over themselves, rub deodorant on themselves, breathe nail polish and hair spray fumes everyday, install scent dispensers in their homes, eat food cooked on Teflon or in a microwave. They gladly gobble up every chemical that their doctors prescribe, ect.ect. Then when some weirdness pops up on their bodies they succumb to the programming that "too much time in the sun caused it". For free thinking folks that is just rediculous. And for creationists it indicates a lack of faith in their creator, you should be blaming the stuff that man made instead of the stuff that God made.
  7. So "normal people" can't live in the environment that they were born into without the help of commercial products, special clothing, and lots of clinics ? Only abnormal people can ? That seems backwards to me.
  8. I'm sure my day is coming. I have had 3-4 spots pop up on me and cause me to freak out because they wouldn't heal as soon as I thought they should have, but so far they've all eventually healed up and went away. I'm sure that if I had gone to the doctor about them they would have scheduled all kinds of testing and removal procedures, and given me all kinds of bad news. I just don't do doctors, period, unless I break a bone, suffer a severe laceration that needs stitches, or honestly feel like I am about to die. I'm sure if I ever went to one they'd have a field day with me. I'd be as good as institutionalized, clinically disabled, and would never see the light of day again. No thanks, I'd rather take my chances out here where the cancer thrives than to spend the rest of my life constantly in and out of hospitals, either doing treatments or recovering from one. I know for a fact, almost, that my dad would have had 10+ years more quality time on this earth if he had never gone to/or listened to doctors.
  9. Good grief. Y'all need to just take up computer games or something. Stay inside where you're safe. Maybe you are aliens, accidentally born one planet too close to the sun. I feel for ya. It would suck to be born into an environment that your body can't tolerate.

  11. Oh man! What I would have paid to see that !
  12. It's prop wash. Guys still haven't figured out the most important use for those high dollar sonar units. That pile of prop wash shows up on the screen way before the gearcase hits it.....if you're looking.
  13. You need an air rifle. That's the only thing keeping me sane lately. Supposed to warm back up to "normal" before long.
  14. HHT requires a little hike, but the fish are there. Long powerboat trailers and pontoons can't launch at Pa he tsi when the lake is below 658.0 but bassboats still can. I didn't know they closed it for the off Season. Figures
  15. I would expect so. Pa he tsi will be free of ice even if the PB2 cove happens to be covered.
  16. If I gave information now, it wouldn't be current on Friday. Right now it's cold. Fish are being caught. Bunch of keepers at HA HA Tonka biting jigs. Jerkbaits and A-rigs are getting bit elsewhere. Dam to the 25mm.
  17. I've found that it works just as well when you pull the line through the grass. I take the end of the line with me when I go get the mail. Keep the rod tip low when you slowly reel it back in and drag the line through your lawn.
  18. Yeah it's only a well pulled off heist if they get away with it. If they get caught they are just dumbasses.
  19. As far as whether there are fish there or not....it will tell you the same thing that making a dozen casts will. After quite a few years of extensive study I can, with 100% honesty, report that sonar equipment has caused more wasted time, than it has caused time saved. Sure I can claim that it has allowed me to be lazy and find numerous brushpiles and dropoffs, but the truth of the matter is that I would have fished those areas even if no brushpiles or dropoffs had shown up, and I'm sure I would have found them. On the flip side, ultra advanced sonar causes you to spend hours upon hours of unwarranted time fishing "things" because it just looks SO TEXTBOOK AWESOME on that screen..... but at the end of the day, 99%of the time, you would have done better fishing blind and covering more water. Year before last I went out with a buddy in an area that neither of us had fishing in years. As we were running down the lake his console unit went blank. He had me crawl under the console and try to figure out what was wrong, but power was getting to the unit so there wasn't anything I could do. He starts in with... "Well, we're f#@&ed now"! Nope, it turned out that we had a fine day, caught some nice ones. But still he didn't take his boat out again for 3 weeks because his sonar shot craps and it just wasn't the same for him going fishing without it. To be such a slave to that Gizmo is a shame.
  20. Yeah when they hit ME it sucks, but I sometimes (like this time) find myself cheering them on. Nothing is smoother than a well pulled off heist. Hope that doesn't make me a bad person. I secretly hate Power poles
  21. After this wicked cold spell, anything near 40° is gonna have me out dancing in my underwear.
  22. Oneshot prefers to stay within walking distance of his truck I think.
  23. Hazelgreen? A half mile upstream from there is a good hole, as is about a mile below. But you need a canoe or Jon boat. Mayfield spring/cave is a good place to bank fish, and one of the Forrest service accesses below that is a place where you can hike to some good fishing.
  24. True "furled" leaders I don't like because they spin when you add tension. You can't even strip a Clouser fast with them or it will come through the water like a corkscrew. The hand twisted ones cast and roll over just as well and they don't twist, so I make and use those for everything. Love them. Even a sloppy one twisted up in a hurry performs flawlessly.
