The lower river might be a little busy that weekend because of the F3T shindig going on.

We made bongs out of them. Buzzbait blades would have been way better but probably would have still pissed my mom off just as bad.

😀 People on docks or out in their yard say "What is that you're throwing?" I say, it's a buzzbait. "Buzzbait? Can I see that? Nope 😁

I haven't, but I am familiar with them. All of mine are either completely homemade or modified versions of commercially available ones. There are alot of buzzbait slingers on this pond and I have realized just over the last year how important it is to have one that does something different. Size, sound, skirting(or the lack thereof), and the trailer, are really the only variables to play with. Sound seems to be the most effective variable to alter, as far as truly improving the number of big bites, but it's also the hardest thing to make happen. This one here with a tungsten bead sounds like a 5hp Briggs & Stratton that is about to throw a rod. If I use a brass bead it sounds completely different (more squeal/less knock). The hard part is figuring out which is best, and when. Regardless of water color it seems to me that the noisier it is the sooner in the retrieve you get the bite. They'll follow a quiet buzzbait for 20 ft. before eating it, but one that raises all kinds of hell either doesn't get bit or gets eaten IMMEDIATELY (the first 3-4 cranks of the reel).

A cool little tip on herl bodies:. After tying it in wrap it around your thread 3-4 times then grab herl and thread together and Palmer it forward. Makes it totally indestructible and negates the need for counter-wrapped wire. I do this with mohair too, or any other body wrap that has no stretch. You can also tie herl AND hackle in, wrap it all together around your thread.....and do it all at once. That's how commercial tyers whip out Griffith's Gnats at the speed of light. 😉

That's an interesting looking little WW. Being a huge tungsten beadheaded crackle back fan I gotta say....I like it! Grizzly hackle tip for a tail ? Any other weight under the body? I need to play with that one. Thanks. I may be more in favor of a married clump of teal flank fibers though, just because the hackle tip seems like it would be too stiff. Obviously not though if you hammered them on it.

My biggest hangup with the LL baits is this type of blade. instead of this type of blade The latter comes to the surface quicker, tracks straighter, has more wire contact...so it squeals and rattles more, and the blades are typically thinner/lighter which allows you to use a bulkier trailer without rollover issues. The old school dock fishermen used to want a buzzbait that tracked to the side.....but WHICH SIDE? If your shade is on the left side and your bait tracks left then your screwed. That old line of BS didn't hold water anyway because as soon as the blade hits the dock floats....guess what? It ain't spinning no more. I want them to track straight so I can depend on casting accuracy instead of compensating for "prop walk" to get my bait where I want it. That boy that y'all were talking to about raising and eating Spotted Bass... I'll let ya in on a little known secret here....That dude is a freakin buzzbait master. If you wanna take a class on buzzbait mastery you need to go fishing with HIM a few times. His Trailer Hook philosophy has some serious holes in it, but other than that he is seriously bad news with a buzzbait rod in his hands. 😁

Yep, I called it from day 1.

Well, I wanna send you in a different (better) direction with the choice of what you are starting with, but I know there are several Lunker Lure lovers around here so I'll keep it to myself and just invite you to join me in an evening buzzbait fest here on my end of LO before the BBB happens. Just lemme know (few days notice) when/if you wanna do it.

My favorite hole already has otters, but it also has beavers, so the otter population is firmly in check. Beavers won't tolerate otters in their neighborhood I don't think. Stop killing beavers and maybe the otter problem (if there truly is one) will go away.

L and L Serenity Jon Boats
fishinwrench replied to dave potts's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Interesting. Serenity is a yacht builder. Got a pic of it ? Might be a dinghy. -
That one would definitely dance if it was minus the dumbbell eyes. Don't give up on the jiggy thing just because it doesn't work for me. Guys that are way better than I am at the streamer game have developed alot of jiggy type streamers.....so they must work good in some conditions. I still carry a few but I'm beginning to wonder if the thread is gonna rot before I find the niche for them. Eastern Smallies love Clousers apparently, but a Clouser is worthless to me here in Mo. when smallmouth fishing. Now White bass..... they'll kill a Clouser!

Water Fowl Dispersing Invasive Organisms?
fishinwrench replied to MoCarp's topic in Conservation Issues
Good God ! That was an eye opener! Why when someone tells me NOT to do something do I immediately do it? 🤔 There are some crazy mofo's out there.....and they walk among us. I still love leeches, but....not...like.....that kinda love. 😖 -

New Advertiser - Clear Cast Marine

Awesome! I hope they can stay busy and pull it off. Wish I had all the units back that I've pitched in the dumpster. 🤔 -
Deer hair, wool, synthetic dubbing, or anything weightless that can add bulk to the head will give you the "sub-walk". The idea is to displace water with the head of the fly, then when you stop or pause the displaced water collapses behind the bulky head and kicks the tail sideways. Using a no-slip loop knot exaggerates it even further since the tippet can't keep the head of the fly from going sideways. If you go with deer hair, don't stack and pack, keep the head loose and fluffy. Doesn't look as pretty in the hand but you'll catch more fish. Guarantee it.

The human was a black male with no weiner, was it not? Douchebags with no sense of humor whatsoever, belong elsewhere as well.

Looks yummy! I can't seem to warm up to head-weighted flys for anything other than Whites/Hybrids/Stripers. Smallies and trout seem to be turned off by the jiggy movement, and more turned on by streamers that do the side-to-side thing. Maybe it's just me.

My wife likes to eat there. They do up a fine chicken fried steak dinner......but then again who doesn't?

Just to be clear, I wasn't mentioning that you were......I was mentioning that you SHOULD. 😁

How close can you get to a "Squeaky Dolphin" without worrying about pattent infringement?

Give Joseph Wright a call and tell him Glen from Sims Marine referred you. He has Wright's Mobile Marine and serves the Pomme area. He's a nice young feller and he'll probably come do it in your driveway. His number is (417) 327-9341

Leeches aren't for everyone....but I Love them !
fishinwrench replied to fishinwrench's topic in General Angling Discussion
Hey, keep your nasty old Carp pics out of my Leech thread ! I could kick you in the throat for making my phone so accustom to saying the C word. Every word I type that starts with a C, it automatically thinks I wanna say c-a-r-p. 😬 -
I don't know jack about anything photo related and I can tell ya that's a fake pic. I'm actually surprised that y'all (especially Ronnie and Al) are even debating the possibility that it COULD be real. A better debate would be what type of bird that is. Looks 1/2 barn owl and 1/2 sparrow.
