Actually the choices for president are rather breathtaking. http://www.politics1.com/p2016.htm

Ever figure me for a jackass ?

Sure enough. The water temp guage didn't pick up on it, but all you had to do was cruise down the lake and look for any flowers up on the bank. If there was stuff blooming then there would be crappie up shallow on the bank there (nice ones too). Once you were out of sight of the little flowers you couldn't get a bite. Not up shallow anyway. Didn't matter if it was chunk rock, pea gravel, or whatever, there just needed to be a flower or two on the hillside.

If the cows are laying in the SHADE then you should cast to the shade. If the cows are laying out in the open.....you should still cast to the shade. There's alot to be learned from cows.

I go pretty robust and heavy. 3/8 with oversize hooks and a fat worm, fished on a Med casting rig and 15# line. Spinning gear, lighter heads, and skinny worms work too, but usually you are fishing in or near brushpiles or over dock cables.

I have installed well over 25 Hydrowaves this year. And in the last 3 years I have substantially upgraded a TON of sonar systems. After these guys have had these things awhile, attended seminars on their use, and everything else, I always make it a point to sneak in the question....."Are you catching any more fish than you used to?" The answer is always either a profound "No", or a "I don't think so", or a "I'm still not sure I'm using it right". So if the magic bubbling fish balls don't work.....then you just aren't using them right.

Well I'm actually just kinda waiting for the fish to make a move back to the shallows. Fishing deep beats not fishing at all, but I really don't enjoy it that much, and luckily I don't have to catch fish 24/7/365 in order to pay the bills.

TU asks for Help on Dawt Mill Dam
fishinwrench replied to grizwilson's topic in North Fork of the White River
I dunno, the constantly cool water will certainly appeal to Stripers and hybrids, but not SHAD so much. I can visualize the Stripers taking up residence in the river and munching heavily on Trout, and even being able to naturally reproduce since the NFOW is long enough and has enough current for the striper eggs to do their thing. -
Man, for all the press that the lower dam area gets you'd think there would be alot of guys fishing it. I'm surprised by the lack of actual pressure there. I still have yet to fish a dropshot rig, not sure why, there is just something about it that turns me off. Of course that would change real quickly if I had a good day doing it. I need to play with it.

TU asks for Help on Dawt Mill Dam
fishinwrench replied to grizwilson's topic in North Fork of the White River
I had that exact thought at first, and then it occurred to me that the dam didn't reach out, grab someone randomly and gobble them up. When people run out into traffic and get run over we don't alter the highway. We might put up a sign if it happens at the same place more than once just to remind the idiots among us that jumping into moving traffic can be a bad idea. It always intrigued me how people made it through life long enough to have a driver's license....and then get hit by a train at a RR Xing. -
TU asks for Help on Dawt Mill Dam

I say leave it be and let nature reclaim it like they have done with the old lock & dam on the Osage. Everybody knows it's a dangerous spot so if they value their existence they'll respect it. It should be nobodys responsibility to eliminate every potential hazard on every watershed. If it's the trout being eaten by stripers that you're concerned about....then blame the biologists who decided it was a good idea to stock the stripers. If the dam MUST be fixed for that reason alone then hold the striper stockers responsible for fixing it, since apparently they failed to take into consideration that someday that rickety old dam might collapse. -
Time to quit worrying about Zebra muscles anyway. We have serious milkweed issues to worry about now.
-
The biologists have taken ZM as their pet study propaganda project so they have a reason to justify their phoney baloney jobs. ZM aren't hurting anything, and even if they were..... whaddaya gonna do about it? Nothing. I'm still waiting for didymo to decimate a fishery, but that hasn't happened yet either. Haven't even heard the word "didymo" for quite awhile on any fish talk forum, so it must have been a bunch of freaking out about nothing. Same with the Zebra mussels. In a few more years you won't even remember what a zebra muscle is.

Late August thru September is usually a great time to throw crankbaits. I sure can't get bit on one now though. The only semi-consistent bite I can figure out is "worms in brush", but I think the fish are getting sick of looking at worms. Nothing else I've tried seems to get many bites though. Thought I had a swim jig thing figured out Saturday but that only worked in a few select spots. They've pretty much quit the Spinnerbait as far as I can tell.

You should have voltage coming out of the green primary wires on the cylinders that ARE firing. Again though, you are testing pulse voltage that requires a peak reading adapter (DVA). When I test ignition systems I pay no attention to resistance tests, I'm only concerned with output. I only go by resistance testing if I'm bench testing something, and even then it is unreliable.

What do they do with them after they catch them?
-
Still slow up this way also. I've tried all sorts of stuff but they don't seem to be very aggressive about anything.
-
Momentarily disconnect the two yellow wires from the voltage rectifier/regulator and see if that restores consistent spark to all cylinders. You won't be able to test the stator, switch box, and trigger output unless you have access to a DVA meter to measure pulse voltage. The resistance (ohms) tests are misleading and a waste of time unless you are comparing the integrity of two or more of the same components. You can use a timing light to determine which cylinders are loosing fire. If the ones loosing fire are on the same switch box .....then Shazam! you found the problem.

Shouldn't be any problems getting replacement brackets using the part numbers I gave you. If the brackets are plastic I'm curious how the coils are grounded. Did they use plastic brackets with a separate grounding strap? That's freakin' Gay ! Having ignition coils rattling around under the cowling on cheesy little brackets is not very Evinrude-like. I can't wait to see this BS. I assume they get easily broken while taking the cowling off and putting it back on?
-
Cracked coil brackets is a new one on me. 2013 is still too new for me to be familiar with. Are they metal or plastic ? Looks like the part #'s are:. 354055 Port/ 354061 Starboard. About 25.00 each. Replacing them should be pretty straightforward, just be sure the grounding contacts are clean and secured with lock washers. If there is still warranty on the motor I'd recommend letting a dealer do it so you don't risk voiding any further warranty issues.

I saw my first one around here in the early '90's in the North shore area. Since then I've seen less than a half dozen here and there. Always just singles all alone. If none of the others are there to see one fall from a "Boom" then I guess they won't become ultra-intelligent? Even though "Booms" happen all the time around here with all these SHTF freaks and all the Rednecks with big fireworks. I wonder what is keeping their numbers in check around here?
