  1. Gotcha, that makes sense.
  2. Al, if you are going to nose hook the trailer AND use a trailer hook, then why not thread the grub on the trailer hook? Just curious.
  3. Threading definitely. Nose hooking looks stupid and you risk the grub swinging around and preventing a decent hook set. Are they tying on Bucktail or are you going with a different skirt material?
  4. Yep it is just a charge. There won't be a trial for another 2+years, so plenty of time for him to retire with a full pension. I'd say the state wants him free and gone before he can be called as a witness against the state in the upcoming Ellingson vs. MOSHP case, so he won't be doing any lengthy prison time. The most jacked up part about this that will never come out is that Brandon really wasn't that wasted. Less than 30 minutes before he was pulled over he and his buddies were ruling the volleyball games at Coconuts. How can you be plenty sober enough to win 8 straight rounds of volleyball against some really good players, but be too wasted to drive a darn boat?
  5. II wasn't firing on ya, bro. Just trying to get to the bottom of this rapidly sinking flourocarbon myth that I keep hearing/reading about over and over. I started experimenting with that as soon as flourocarbon became available. I love it for it's abrasion resistance but I'm just blown away by the number of times the sink rate of it is mentioned because In my experience that has turned out to be a characteristic not anywhere noticable enough to even consider. If I seem cranky about it that's because I WISH it were true to a greater degree. I would love to have a strong, castable line that would actually sink like so many people act like flouro does. Hell, a wet feather will sink too....but not anytime soon. Certainly not in the time frame between two casts. Take a wad of wet monofilament and hold it underwater at an arms length, let go of it down there and let me know when it comes to the surface.
  6. Call that one Abraham's Sideburn.
  7. The fish say No, just right.
  8. Well they prolly think their weiner is 10" and they are judging up from there, so a 16" crappie to them is probably a decent 12" in reality.
  9. The black one is a Dave Hughes/Rick Hafele midge pattern I got from one of their books. I've never caught a fish on it but I still like it.
  10. OMG you are so needy ! Here! And another bonus model with some foam trickery since I had to go dig it all out anyway.
  11. Yeah I don't see many over 13 myself. And I'm darn proud of any 12.
  12. I actually tie a similar "caddis" (works just fine during mayfly hatches too if you match size/color). But I cut the foam in strips and wrap it around the hook to form a body, leave the hair butts kinda long to act as head and legs. It's a killer. Just a strip of foam and a pinch of hair. Quick, easy, effective all the way down to size 22.
  13. What kind (brand) of fluro are you using? Because I actually have a use for one that will actually pull a bait down. I want some of it for fluke and wacky worm fishing. In order to pull the bait down the line would actually have to belly down below the bait. Do we agree there? And you have line that will do that with a jerkbait? I gotta have some ! I have 100% flourocarbon line that won't even sink a size #16 dry fly.
  14. If you're drinking milk (having a Baa-Baa) that late in the day, then yeah pretty much.
  15. Slightly nose down in the kitchen sink will result in a fairly horizontal position with line tied on and casted out a ways (don't pay any attention to all the talk about how fluorocarbon makes it sink better, that's baloney). I've never seen a truly good jerkbait bite before the solstice. The lengthening days are what I believe mark the beginning of it, and when you start noticing sick/dying shad then it SHOULD be at (or near) it's peak.
  16. Next time you clean a mess that includes a few big ones take notice of the size of the fillets. There's not any more meat on a 12 incher than there is on a 10.5 incher, their heads are just bigger. Once they are fried up you might get 1/2 a bite more meat, if that.
  17. Somebody must be buying them or they'd stop making them. Thanks for keeping it going Do you realize how shitty of a blank you could build rods on if you could paint them and still sell them ? I could build you a sweet rod on a crappy 20.00 blank, paint it white and you'd never know it. You'd pay 347.99 for it and tell everyone how awesomely sensitive and powerful it was, and all the while you're fishing with an old Ugly Stick blank painted white with some decent guides on it.
  18. I'll hafta call your bluff on that one I know ALOT of really good fishermen on this pond and not a single one of them can set out to catch walleye and come home with more than one occasionally. I'd almost bet that if they had a walleye tournament here and invited the best walleye anglers in the country that not a single limit would get weighed.
  19. Don't mention it. I'm not here to pimp my biz (If I was I'd act alot better), I'm here cuz I love fishing and shooting the bull with you fellers. Happy Holidays !
  20. Your starter drive gear is disengaging from the flywheel and free spinning. That can happen when the motor almost starts...but doesn't. Or if battery connections are loose/dirty, or battery voltage is low. So, clean and tighten battery connections, charge the cranking battery up good, and apply a little lube on the starter shaft (a few drops of your outboard oil will do fine). If it still does it after that let me know.
  21. Yep. Yet many more hybrids are caught than walleye. Should be some rather large walleye swimming around. Seems a waste to put walleye in here, cuz nobody can catch 'em.
  22. Yeah ! Who started the WHITE ROD thing ? Somebody needs kicked in the sack over that.
  23. My daughter goes to the gym and wears herself out every day. It ticks me off because there's all kinds of stuff around here that I can't get her to do even if I pay her. I think she just goes to the gym to troll.
  24. You already ride your bike. Why are you going to the stupid gym ? When I burn energy I try to accomplish something beneficial at the same time. Build a deck, remodel the laundry room, plant some trees, move your mailbox.....Anything. Who the hell wants to go throw weighs around for nothing, and PAY for the privilege of doing it ?
