  1. Yep, the first thing Credit Karma will yell you as soon as you register with them is that you need MORE CREDIT CARDS, and includes links to get them. (they truly do think people as a whole are friggin stupid). Good to know about Discover. That was news to me. Giving you only your "score" though doesn't help you much without details of all of the scoring factors (including contact info for each, and transaction reference numbers).
  2. No kidding, I sure can't make sense of the credit score game. I have been working towards restoring my score after living almost a full year on credit cards after a tornado ate my house and shop. Several went to judgment status but were paid in full as soon as the insurance checks started coming in. I have had to take action and request myself that previously paid off and past-statute strikes against my score were taken off, otherwise I guess they would have just haug around forever. So if you are trying to improve your score then get a report and make a few calls, you might be surprised how much of a boost to your score is possible just by rattling a few cages. Credit Karma is a pretty good way to keep track of what's going on with your score. They kind of bombard you with emails all the time but making "the system" aware that you are keeping track of how they are scoring you seems to make a difference.
  3. That video, if posted 6 months ago, would have eliminated 5 months and 29 days worth of skepticism. Good stuff !
  4. Thanks Dave. I figured it was something along those lines, because the rod is obviously not what you'd expect of a 6wt. Very light and parabolic. It is also Sold BTW.
  5. I use a loop to loop (perfection on both) for Leader>Tippet so I don't eat up my leader replacing tippets. A leader usually lasts me a whole season. I use a Davy knot (figure 8) for small fly's, and a NS Loop for larger fly's (#12+) and streamers. I never fish droppers but if I did I'd do it like Al does, or I'd whip a dropper loop into the leader above my tippet loop...and loop to loop another short tippet onto it. Tying to the bend always seemed like a stupid idea to me, but a ton of guys do just fine with that system so whadowyno. A truly GOOD way to dropper a fly doesn't exist IMO, so that's why I never do it.
  6. I'm not that hip to vintage Orvis rods and their unique rating system, it does have a (6) on it....but to me it feels like a 4, maybe even a 3. I believe these rods were designed to have a cane rod action. The rod isn't mine, I am selling for a customer that isn't computer savvy. It is a sweet feeling setup but I don't need another small stream rod.
  7. I like the Centipede in "bluegill" on a 1/2oz. C-rig. Pretty deadly on LO midsummer bass. And oddly enough almost irresistible to big flatheads. I tried the FD years ago but stuck with the 'pede.
  8. Ahh Bennett trivia ! Brits, Are you asking cuz you wanna know, or is this a test for someone specific?
  9. It's always somebody. Back injury, Vacation,Sister inlaws niece got married.... I'm just here for the pics. Always hungry for fresh ideas. I would have jumped in on this one but my mailman's pregnant hamster had a miscarriage.
  10. How is that stuff made anyway? I want a car made out of it!
  11. The red-eye run was for naught ?
  12. As long as you can physically carry it all at once your fine. When it takes 2+ trips to haul your tackle to the boat then you're a candidate for simplification.
  13. Fly swaps crack me up. Every single one is like riding on a flatbed trailer down 40 miles of bad road.
  14. I bet I could Huck it! Don't be scared
  15. Nice! As long as they have that Tutu tied on the rear hook you can still call them a "fly", right ?
  16. 200.00 shipped to your door.
  17. You just have to take it slow and easy at first. There's no shortcuts to learning to navigate a cove or creek arm full of wood. You just have to put in your time and pay your dues before you can go flying through heavily wooded areas with any degree of confidence.
  18. Hu? Slip bobbers fall on their side when the weight is lifted from below, the same as fixed bobbers. Or at least the ones I use when crappie fishing do.
  19. One of these days your outboard is gonna lay down on you....and your truck is gonna run out of gas.
  20. Why don't more float&fly guys use slip bobbers ?
  21. It's a fact that there is no perfect all around river craft, that is only because of different rivers. Some flows scream for a yak, some a toon, others a jon boat. A canoe is hands down the most versatile of all. So where you plan to use it should be the deciding factor. The truly cool thing is that all designs of river craft are easily affordable. Even a poor dude like me can afford one of each.
  22. The last revolutionary breakthrough that made a lasting impression on me was Fluorocarbon. Nothing truly awesome has happened since IMO.
