  1. Oh I'm aware of what a boat/motor/trailer combo can cost, but I'm also aware that the most expensive fishing boat the type of people I am talking to HERE and NOW are likely to own is in the 30k range or less. Was that a shot? Not making new ones, just keeping the old ones.....kinda like boats I like the ones with character.
  2. Hey, we live in a world full of buzzwords. If it says "Shakey head" on the package then ya gotta SHAKE IT! Otherwise you aren't doing it right. Nevermind that you just caught your 8th keeper dragging it slowly around a brushpile.
  3. Well for starters I never said "Elite Idiot". Secondly, If you took offense to THAT then I'm glad you'll never be stirring the dust in MY driveway. And thirdly, I'm not on here to generate business, I'm here to offer advise to guys I like and to bullshit with friends. Of which you're obviously NOT. If I was here "advertising" then I'd be paying Phil for a banner so big it'd crash your s#it everytime you logged on. Now, back to the topic at hand..... The new Evinrudes really aren't that much uglier than this POS are they? Looks like a naked hunchback Mrs. Buttersworth with bad ink. I really get a charge out of the buzzword "four stroke" on the cowling. As if to say "we want to be sure you know this is a 4 stroke engine because the term "4 stroke" is totally cool now !" LOL
  4. No I don't. My spending limit on ANY boat, new, used, or damaged/blown peaks out at about 7-8K. I'm happy taking the ones y'all are tired of, fixing them back up and using them until I sell them for a modest profit. That's my gig. I leave all the sales tax paying to you elite folks that like to spend 1/2 hour with a chamois cloth everytime you put it back in the trailer. To me that's not a fishing boat....it's yet another high maintenance girlfriend that I'm better off without. I always have a few boats to choose from when I wanna go fishing, and it pays me to use them. Happy-Happy-Happy!
  5. There's no shortage of them on LO it seems, until you want/need one. LOL I'd like to have one observe (for a day) this seaplane that takes off and lands 70+ times per week out of Coconut's. Not sure how this guy aquired his immunity but if that sucker doesn't crash this season I'll be amazed. For as much airtime as that craft is getting there is no way that it is getting the maintainance it needs.
  6. ....And there are big wide mainlake areas just perfect for driving around in circles like that. There is no justifiable reason to run circles up and down the narrower creek arms repeatedly, is there?
  7. Bypass the switches first to make sure the motor is truly good. Then test the switches with a volt/ohm meter to see if they are bad.
  8. How many water patrol boats do you have cruising TR? If things are getting dangerous down there then maybe you need more!
  9. No need to "bring them back" there's plenty of'em out there.....Just keep running them ! My only complaint in regards to the new outboards is that I can't afford one, and wouldn't buy one if I could. Who the hell needs a 30,000.00 boat to catch a 2.00 fish? I'm partial to boats/motors with "character", and don't really care to own one that wipes/powders my butt, and totes a selling price that should be reserved for real estate. Don't mind working on them though
  10. You had a dual rack system BREAK? !!! I've seen a thousand sieze up but never had one in that was broke. Your local O'Rielly's can get Teleflex cables, or complete systems "next day" if they don't already have one in stock. They usually have the best prices on them as well.
  11. The Little Niangua is a great "teaching stream", and among the closest to you. Some 1/16oz. Slider heads and 4-5" worms, small tube baits, a Rebel craw (or three), and a few 1/4oz. Topwater baits should be all you need to carry.
  12. Spring fed? No, but that's not the deal maker/breaker it's made out to be really, its the shelf rock that makes it sweet. The ledge and main channel flats on the north side at the 50 is a legendary white/hybrid/crappie area, and I'm sure a good number of blues have come off of it as well.
  13. I wouldn't haul yet another battery around. Besides that just doubles your chances for a problem, since a bad one wired parralel will suck the good one down with it.
  14. Looks good Jim! Always keep a good fresh battery hooked to that 235. Trying to get "one more season" out of a tired battery will smoke the voltage regulator, stator, and tach almost everytime on that system. Also be sure to completely eliminate the 12/24/Charge circuit at the bow panel (if it hasn't already been done). And just convert the TM wiring to straight 24v. The added weight of an aluminum framed deck extension isn't gonna hurt the ride of that rig one bit. If you have an old aluminum ladder laying around you can configure a perfect frame for the deck using sections cut from the ladder. Works perfect. Not much you can do to make a "truly good" rod box on the dual console F/S boats no matter what ya do, that's just something you'll have to cuss about for the duration of your relationship if you like to carry more than 5 rigged rods.
  15. Don't you guys ever study a map? Alcorn is spring fed, and the upper end used to be a trout hatchery. Excellent structure. Lots of shelf rock interspersed with pea gravel, and several spots with good brushpiles.
  16. It's actually mis-named, it should be named "Short Bass cove". And Alcorn hollow should be named "Blue cat"
  17. Here's my latest project boat, and the one I'll likely be playing in for a bit. Before... After... And here's the river boat...
  18. 1/4oz on a 7-8", or 5/16 on a 10+" (pegged) 17-20# flouro
  19. It's the cove that has Big Dick's in it.
  20. I believe I'd spend some more time at the place where you caught the 36" blue. 8-12' Flats just off the main channel are what I keep hearing about from the dedicated catmen.
  21. Cool! If you don't get me quick enough that way just shoot me a text or call 573-569-5406
  22. Jesus! What is it with all these guys dieing in their early 50's lately ? It's stressing me out. Knock it off! For all these doctors making the kinda money they are, and all this high-tech medicine and aggressive treatments, why is everyone dropping dead so easily now?
  23. Sounds like it's time to take a jon boat, a garden rake or a tree pruner, and go make some holes.
  24. If you ever end up around the Lake O Westside area I'd be interested in the two 6'6" Premiers.
  25. I love to let'em jump, and the more air the better. I just try to control their head with steady movement in my direction while they are in the air. If a fish jumps while moving away from you then you are just depending on luck and barbs. Soon as he/she clears the water I get face to face with them. Even the little ones so it stays a habit. Also if there's any obstacles between us (log, dock cable, ect.) that's my opportunity to get them on my side of it.
