  1. Well around here it's very rare to get a badge carrier to take the time to decipher the statutes on the scene. He'll just write you up to appease the property owner and tell you to take your rule book to court with you. They don't waste gas, if they show up somebody is gonna loose some money.
  2. Log/rock deflector. Probably real efffective too when retrieved quickly. Kinda funny that Al Foss isn't who gets pats on the back for "square bills". LOL
  3. Pretty sure I could control that situation. But a dock owner with the sheriff on speed dial....not so much.
  4. The bait with the wire on the lip is a True Temper (Al Foss) Speed Shad (introduced 1940)
  5. Around here cripples have private docks to get under. Causes some conflict to say the least.
  6. The Jitterbug came complete with DOPE? Frikken Sweet! Must have been from the late 60's cuz you can't get away with that now!
  7. Gas was .15/gal then. So buying that CC bait for a buck in '27 would be the same as paying 24.00 for a lure today. So what's so bad about 18.00-25.00 jerkbaits? Seems right inline to me.
  8. Can't imagine why it would piss the dentist off. I wish all of y'all would run wide open through a shallow stumpfield everytime you went out. Jus'sayin'.
  9. I'll give ya a dollar for it.
  10. Here's an ad 'supposedly' from 1927 (no nose tie) so yours may be the real deal.
  11. Are the eyes glass, plastic, or brass tacks ?
  12. Creek Chub "Jigger": They were first produced in 1933, made in 2 sizes and 8 colors. Yours seems to be missing a line tie at the nose, or it is a very early production....or a copy (there was never a patent). Later original CC models had two line tie eyelets (one at the nose and another on the chin just forward of the lip) and the chin/belly area was more flattened than yours appears to be.
  13. It was a short ride I assure you. 25° is pretty much my limit for bike riding, boating, standing waist deep in a trout stream, and just about anything outdoors short of splitting wood.
  14. The guys that post on here. Hands down the strangest/neatest finds of all time for me.
  15. Holy smokes! We'd be out of power and the whole 9 yards if we got hit with that here. Nothing but a dusting here in the LO area. Was still able to get out for a bike ride.
  16. Slap on an olive rabbit strip and I'd fish it!
  17. Doubt that'd do it. They'd just retreat downstream a ways and come right back in the Spring. Maybe once they (or we) get the water cleaned up the filter feeder population will diminish somewhat.
  18. See there! Bells are ringing all over the place. Hell yes they run up Meramec! Spring! Roubideax too! (It's better than Bennett, and closer to Smalliebigs, which indicates that HE didn't know....or "think about it") and there's no Orvis sisters hangin' out there! It's no secret so let's just put it out there and get it over with. Yeah? Got pics? Let's see that big brown!
  19. Well I'm glad they did. The guard rails and the supporting structure for the railing was looking REALLY sketchy, and the inspection from underneath turned up some serious unrepairable wear/tear. Hanging out with the American bridge crew some was an eye-opener for me. There's alot to know when it comes to bridges....more than I ever imagined. They truly are genuine marvels of engineering that you don't think much about as you drive across them glancing right/left at the fishing holes below.
  20. Well that's cool. I love learning stuff that actually pays off. I gotta salute this thread, it has made me SOUND like I know what I'm talking about when discussing these units when asked to install them. So far I've just been following the instructions in the box.....No complaints yet, thankfully. Transducer placement and alignment on these newer units seems to have a wide margin for error (which is a good thing in some applications) unlike the older dinosaurs I grew up with.
  21. I'm honestly impressed! With the images and your expanding knowledge of sonar equipment that is.....But dammit, where are the accompanying pics of slimey green things with holes in their lips ?
  22. Nah, I'll just watch it on youtube. I'm sure there'll be a race to see who can be the first to upload videos of it. I did get to work on the Optimax powered barge that helped place the explosives though.....so I got to have a hand in the building of the new bridge, and the destruction of the old
  23. Black, white, brown, gray, silver, gold, purple, and blue.
  24. 2 limits of 10-11 inchers came from the area near Coconuts yesterday. I bet they'll get another limit today if they go. Wish I could get out before the cold air arrives
