  1. I'll be down Tuesday thru Saturday next week and won't be taking the boat unfortunately ( the wife says I only want to fish the whole time when I brig it..... Which is true of course because all I want to do is fish the whole time). So I will be relegated to fishing from the bank the whole time, but I did go out and buy a Zara puppy for early and late. I used to use them a lot and got away from it. I usually use the smaller rapala skitter pop for topwater and have caught quite a few at local little ponds and LOZ. I think I like the fact that you can pop it and let it sit still instead of a constant walk the dog retrieve or a constant retrieve with a buzz bait, though everyone says a buzz bait is a "big fish" bait. Wish me luck I'll be at big cedar and never have had much luck from the bank there.
  2. That's a better than I've ever had there, and my family has had a place there for 7 years! Good job.
  3. Well that didn't work. It said the file was too big.
  4. Just trying to post a pic for the first time. This is a 13" my wife caught Saturday night.
  5. I went with my dad and caught about 20-25 and kept about 10 nice ones. Didn't catch any that we're not at least borderline keepers. I am in buck creek and they were caught primarily in one spot in about 25' o water in the deep end of a boat slip about 10-15' down. Had to let it go deeper or would not have much success. I see a lot up shallow around our dock too. Water temp was 57* or so.
  6. I say it's too bad you weren't I a tourney to cash a check on those days, unless you did. Champ, I personally think having a command of the English language is something to be proud of, not browbeaten for. My mom is an English teacher and I know she would appreciate it. I also realize that with the autocorrect feature on some of these devices it doesn't always end up the way that the poster was trying to convey. I like your articulate posts and as incredulous as you (not necessarily you) may be, I guess there is the is a chance that someone is tearing them up when you're not. It seems to be the case every time I go out. That's why I don't fish tourneys!
  7. I was there in 2012 I think it was and it was real stained in long creek up to the 86 bridge and it was around 80 degrees in March. I think Stacey was in top three going into the final day. Now that I think about it he fell off the last day but I recall seeing him out on the water near big cedar cove. I do believe it was an FLW event though, not sure if he does Bassmasters. I'm pretty sure he is from reed's springs.
  8. I would think Stacey King has a real shot. Maybe he doesn't fish Bassmaster though. He had a good showing at one of the tourneys a few years ago. Come to think of it maybe that was FLW.
  9. I still did terrible. Bass fished from 10:30-3:00 anywhere from the 10mm back up to the mouth of Indian Creek in the Gravois. Skunked again. Got up to 43 degree in Indian creek. Jerk baits jigs etc. still couldn't catch a crappie off the dock, but I did snag about 10 - 8" shad while trying for them under our dock. You could feel them contacting the jig every cast. All in all a bad trip for me.aybe I should have crappie fished instead.
  10. Just got off the water for about 3 hours in buck creek...... Skunked. 40-42 degrees not as clear as I would have expected, maybe 3-4 foot visibility at the most with a brownish mud color to it. Used stick baits mainly and threw a jig every once in a while. Water is as low as I can remember seeing it in the last 6 years that we have had a place down here. The most disturbing thing was I couldn't even catch a crappie off of our dock which is extremely rare even in mid winter. Well there's always tomorrow.
  11. Wow, how deep of water was the dock in? I may have to try that.
  12. I was down at the 7mm off our dock and caught about 3or4 11inchers and a few smaller ones in about 45 minutes. Used jigs. Prolly could have caught more but had 3 year old there and it was pretty chilly.
  13. I assume that 39.2 degree remark is an attempt at a joke. I am not really trying to blame it on the turnover, I would think most people would agree that it is actually hard to catch fish at that time.

  15. "I know a guy" (and I know a lot of bs stories start with that phrase, but) who used to catch big bass out of there - 6lbs+. So it is worth a try for bass. Muskie can be caught too as is proven by the photos above.
  16. I'm headed down for a guys weekend on the 5th. Any thoughts on if the turnover will be occurring then or if it is happening yet? I know there comes a time when fishing is darn near hopeless, just hope it is not then!
  17. Nice, that looks pretty long too. If I didn't know better I might think it was even heavier than that. Looks like a great day for you.
  18. Melvern, I guess I was wrong.
  19. Bluebasser, I'm pretty sure the lake you are at with those two smallies is the same one I caught a smallie over 6lbs at about 8-10 years ago.
  20. As coldwaterfishr said Accent B2. I thought these used to be sold as a bass pro product, at least that is what I remember years back. You can run them extremely slow and they create a good ammount of noise and bubbles at a low speed. I tore up smallies in Canada with these.
  21. I fish LOZ a lot more than TR because my folks have a place there. I love it, but I like TR more. Maybe because it is a bit of a treat to go there because I can go to LOZ whenever. I personally think TR may be easier because LOZ is so pressured. If it isn't summertime, there are bass boats everywhere and it just gets pounded. I think the reason it stays pretty good is because you can't really fish in the summer during the daytime hours so the fish get a bit of a break. I seem to catch more and better fish at TR. I think the crappie on LOZ is phenomenal though.
  22. I always close with my hand, my main reason is because I figured it would extend the life of the reel. I use top waters (skitter pops mainly) with spinning and light line so that I can cast them real far but the line twist just sucks.
  23. Do you use a bait caster with a fluke or a spinning rod? I would think spinning, but I am getting to where I hate using spinning tackle. It just gets too twisted for me regardless of what lure I use. I would like to know anyone's thoughts on a bait cast rig that can cast lighter baits. Or is it all just dependent on line size and dialing in the reel correctly and getting a lighter action rod? Any thoughts?
  24. Ha ha, I like that metaphor.
