I miss the old iron bridge and the deeper pools that used to be there at Black River Lodge. I don't miss the "Underwater Jeep Races." BTW business has been down for them and I would hate to see it change hands. The Ries family have owned it since 1946. Since I married into a St. Louis family I have gone the week of July 4th since 1972. Its a very nice family vacation check it out.

It still scares me to remember how close i came a few years ago fishing the Aunt's creek fall tournment. I was the 5th or 6th boat out. The ones ahead of me went up the james I was going down to the main lake. I see a boat coming up the Jame's on the same course, there was a tournment out of Kimberling, we're about a mile apart. I have a 2000 21dc Triton w/225 yama and I wasn't pushing it maybe running 50 or 55 also it was still dark. I moved right and it seemed he did too I went bact to straight then tried it again and same thing happened so i started shutting down. I'm coming down off plane and he's still coming full tilt and i'm thinking he's going to hit me but at the very last second he swerves to my right (wrong again). My boat misses the back of his by maybe 2 feet and we coast thru the spray. If it happens again i'll keep going right until i reach the shore.

Wow, how can i add something positive to this. Bill, Eric, Champ and many others you are what this fornum is. Arsenal I for one think no less of you for what you did. You have to know that was a special night of fishing (not so much so in the 70s and 80s) and someone had released those fish or there mommas is the reason you had a night like that. I've fished TR since 1964 I'am 63 now and i"ve killed more than my share but not for a long, long time. Back in the 70s when Campbell Point had a lunker board and everyone brought in fish on a stringer to weight 1000s were killed. Then there were places on this lake where a bass never saw a lure. In todays world we all have to do as much as we can with the things we control because of all the factors we have very little control over (lose of cover, pollution etc.) I will trade eating a fish for catching a fish. I would be willing to help you and your church feed crippled children. Arsenal i know your are taking this as a personal attack on you. I don't think it is but i can see how you might. I think you should accept that the members of this forum are not going to accept TB bass being the solution to feeding the starving masses.

Yes you will be in one of the three mill creeks on TR. Jug and Plug in Shell Knob should have the grubs and the Steak Out is very good. By the way there is very good fishing by where ypur staying with out even firing up the big motor.
