I spoke with a couple guys fishing off the bench and they said it is a park now. It was cool because I was fishing with a buddy who used to own and live in the rock house.

Me and a buddy fished Cape Fair...mostly Wooly & Piney Friday 10/3. We only caught 4 crappie between us but they were nice. One was 13" and the other three were 12". Minnows in about 15 to 20 feet of water around a few stick ups was the ticket. The wind was so strong it was white capping, so we couldn't try many brush piles. The word from other fishermen was hit the brush piles and keep moving...only picking up a few here and there.

Sam- I had to laugh out loud when I read about your friend getting the big white and finding a silver rattle trap and line attached. My friend is the one who lost that fish and lure yesterday! He had a pair of clippers around his neck while trolling. He hooked the fish and when he was playing it his clippers flung around and cut the line. How could that even happen? We laughed so hard at work today. Glad someone got the fish...and lure. Good fishing!

Glad you could make it back out on the water...I'm sure it seems like forever. You haven't missed much...crappie has been pretty lean this year for some reason. I look forward to your posts.

Thanks for the report. Hopefully the water temp will rise and the crappie will start to move to the banks soon.

Fished for Crappie around James and Flat Creek Monday 4/22. Fished flat banks, water was around 58 deg and stained. Bite was sporadic with most caught on black/chart jigs. Several were full of eggs and ready to go. Ended up with 13 in about 6 hrs. It will only get better when the water warms up. Good luck.
