my backup partner for Reeves Bros tomorrow just backed out on me at 9:45pm. anybody wanna fish it in the morning. state park marina launch at 7:00am and i'll pay your entry fee.
-
i believe the third man was an official. lakes pretty crowded with central pro am the high school tourney a bass club out of iowa and tomorrow is reeves bros out of state park.

tried to bass fish this evening but had to quit early because i didnt adjust the mount properly on the new trolling motor and couldnt get it to unlock ive got the front mounts too tight but couldnt adjust it on the water. Anyhows I talked to a fellow from Joplin that got into the crappie real good up near CC bridge. he caught his on the basic same pattern i did. Find those nice pea gravel pockets with some buck brush on them and access to deeper water with a little pole timber on it is ideal. If all your catching is bucks on the bank back of a little deeper and those big females oughta be lurking around some structure,Good luck fellows ive got to work a couple bugs out my boat tomorrow to get ready for Reeves Bros on Sunday. Will give a bass report Sunday evening i'm on a good bite but don.t wanna say too much till after the derby.I piddled around thinking I might pick up a big fish before it got dark had to rely on the wind to blow me down the banks and still put a few fish in the boat. theres several tourneys on stockton this weekend and i got a feeling theres gonna be some big bags brought in.
-
braved the wind but was no way i was gonna fight with the boat today. three of us had 30 plus crappie in about 3 hours fishing weighted bobbers and a grub 18'' to 24'' under it. throwed it as far as we could into the wind then brought it back at a slow steady retrieve. color didnt matter a whole lot as long as it was a good murky water color. go in the creek arms find the spawning pockets that the wind is blowing in to and fish the back of them. my phone service sux tonight and been trying to post pics since early evening. i'll try to post again tomorrow when i go to town and have better service. got a couple three biguns to show off!!!!

theres a good brush pile on the second bridge pier from the south side of h highway bridge. tie up to the pier and drop that green light in the water and drop a minnow just above the pile oh about 12' down. ive caught some nice limits of crappie there over the years in july into september.
-
ive got back issues myself so the best two things ive done was putting a recessed foot control tray in and investing in good mustang inflatable vests. never take it off and actually in the winter its pretty comfy. i ask who ever fishes with me in cold water conditions to not take the spare i bought off.better safe than sorry. the tray keeps me balanced and my knees and lower back dont bother me near as bad even when i'm on the water over 8hrs.
-
alot of times the whites will tear me up on a certain color bait but will turn off just as fast as they turned on. when that happens i start throwing different colors till i find the one they want.
-
its a very good rig. you can take the screw locks off it and put willow leaf blades on . I like it better in submerged timber than dragging it on the bottom because even tho its pretty much snagless a weight will wedge in a crack in the rocks. you drag it over a limb then let it helicopter down and BAM!!!!!

I agree with Champ I use a wobble head year round with several different baits. this time of year try skin hooking a big bite baits craw tube in grn pumpkin/orange and hang on cause the smallies will tear it to pieces. i slow roll it just like Bill explained but with the craw tube i'll pause it for a couple seconds raise my rod tip let it glide back to the bottom then slow roll it again. alot of times they will hit from behind on the glide. when you start cranking it the rod will start loading up then set the steel to them. -
me too about the same time Dave.

This is my favorite rig its a bottom dragger the two bottom arms have 1/4oz cone sinkers and hitch hikers in the middle the top arms have hitch hikers in center and rigged hot with a 3/16th swim bait head. The center is also rigged hot. The one in pic has 3.3" keithechs in pro blue red shad color also the black shad color Bill mentioned I use it a lot too. If you here till Friday I can probably get one to you. I'm prefishing on Thurs in Kim city area. Oh yea it drags over submerged timber well too.

nice small jaw champ. i think that fish is longer than the 6.56 that was caught on stockton everyone is raving about. its hard to tell just by comparing pics but thats the same class fish for sure and if it wasnt in the spawn i believe yours to be bigger. Stockton has some very nice smallies and ive caught a few but theres nothing like a table rock small jaw for color and quality.

great job and thnx for the report. i'll try to give a report tomorrow from the upper end.

yep thats what i want to do too. the dang skins from ranger are over 600 bucks and then you have to get someone to install them. i found some nice bucket seat with a different width console that can be adjusted to the width of your original seat for 700 bucks. i'll try to find the link for you. I;m pretty sure I book marked it. -

out of everything ive done to the boat even tho it was nerve racking cutting in the recessed tray was the smartest and safest thing I did. -

Bill has serviced that boat since it was new and still does. i took it down the other day to let him see all the upgrades and he was glad to see someone had it that would take care of it. It's really a shame to see such a solid boat with dry rotted seats but that will be fixed here pretty quick. the seats are ripped so bad it took a full roll of duct tape to cover up the rips tears and holes. -
i think more would if given the chance. everyone is in such a hurry now days. Crap families dont even sit down at the dining room table like we did when i was growing up. ive taken an interest in the local high school fishing teams recently and the kids ive met are becoming pretty good sticks. The young lady that fishes with Randy Conlin smokes my butt everytime I have to fish against her!!!
