  1. I've heard nothing but great things about Daiwa and I think I might end up trying out the Revros since it appears to have more ball bearings. And what is an Air Rotor?
  2. No I'm not really affiliated with them. But if you're going to buy some make sure you go through the link in my profile page and....... j/k. lol. You're fun Champ!
  3. So hate to revive a dead horse, but recommend me a good reliable bulletproof spinning reel for under $100. I'd prefer to stay away from Shimano as I've just recently had my second one crap out on me after dropping it in the lake last weekend. I took it apart and cleaned it and dried it out and lubed it good, but it still isn't anywhere near as smooth anymore and it'll bind up or just kinda hesitates like there's no oil in it or something. Read online that it's a classic problem for Shimano. So in the trash it went. I'm just so surprised a fishing reel made by a reputable company can't be used near water while fishing. It might just get wet and fail. Just unbelievable. I've only ever used Shimano and have little experience with any other brands. Anyways, what do you guys use and have had good luck with? Thanks!
  4. ^^this. Sickle hooks have magical powers. I think Matzuo did some voodoo chants and black magic to make them hold on to fish so well. Not that fish can't throw a sickle hook, but it significantly reduces the chances of it. If you think about the design and how the hook is embedded into the fish's mouth and the physics behind it, you'll realize why it is much much harder for a fish to shake off a sickle hook. That little angle in the hook does wonders.
  5. I don't think there's really a wrong way to fish the wp. I mean it's a rather simple lure to use at almost any speed. I didn't start fishing yesterday nor am I a pro either, but I can hold my own on any given day. I guess I'm just not really impressed by it. Trust me I really wanted to like it, and have fished with it very often on many days hoping it will prove itself as a great lure. But I have found that if fish were hitting the wp, they were hitting any other topwater lure as well. I can catch fish with it the same as I can catch with my other propeller type lures or buzzbaits or spooks or "insert topwater lure here" that also sputter water when retrieved. There just is nothing amazing about it. Edit: Champ if you have a secret tweak to the lure to make it magical, please PM me. If that's what you meant. lol.
  6. I personally think it's overrated or some guys on here are "secretly" affiliated with the company. I've fished it along with most other topwaters and have had better luck with other topwaters, such as the good ol' spook. On one occasion, I was fishing an early morning and wipers were chasing shad on topwater and I was using a WP and my buddy was walking a super spook and he was killing them, I didn't even get so much as a sniff. So what did I do.......I tied on a spook and never looked back. This isn't just a one time scenario, it happened numerous other times that I no longer carry it with me. It's more a reaction type bait than anything else. It has it's time and place, and for me that place is on the shelf at the store.
  7. I knew what you meant. I just couldn't help myself.
  8. On your iphone, how exactly are you "right clicking"? Isn't it a touch screen?
  9. Sorry to hear that. But on another note did you catch any fish? How's the water clarity and water temp? Hope you find the knife. I know a guy who dropped his wallet in a port-a-potty once and fell in trying to get it. I don't know why he couldn't use a fishing rod to try and "fish" it out, but then again.....try explaining that to the next guy who opens the door and sees you with a fishing rod in your hand in a port-a-potty at a lake.
  10. Some fish are born better tasting without any added ingredients. If I have to add milk, italian dressing, lemon, butter, holy water, a drop of virgin's blood, a unicorn's tear, and fairy dust to make bass taste good, then forget it.
  11. Nice stringer of largemouths. Glad you got into them. Do they eat good? I've never been fond of how they taste so never kept any. I guess I've just been spoiled with crappie and walleye and so everything else just doesn't compare.
  12. In my lifetime, I maybe only ever had a near similar experience, and that was with stripers on topwater on the east coast on a Delaware beach. It was an every cast kinda deal with blowups everywhere and baitfish were pushed right onto shore on the sand and seagulls were diving everywhere on shore and on the water to pick up the remains and the wounded, I remember it like it was yesterday, it was raining and I was completely soaked to the bone. We were waist deep in water at high tide and were casting out as far as we can with foot long topwater plugs and reeling them in as fast as we can and they would get slammed 10 ft in the air by stripers slapping at them, and then they'll come back around and engulf it. And when they did they about yanked the rod out of your hands and you just hold on for the fight of your life. I remember baitfish being slapped several feet into the air all over the beach for what seemed like miles. This went on for an hour straight and 4 of us limited out on stripers keeping nothing under 20 lbs. In the next 25 years that we went back, it never happened again. Just one of those things. I was 16 at the time. And they say nothing is more exciting at that age than a cute girl on your lap in her parents house with her parents out of town. Well, I'll trade those 30 seconds with that girl for those 60 minutes of topwater action any day. I can keep my fishing rod up longer during the heat of the action. At that age anyways.
  13. Now that's funny right there.
  14. Now that's a day you dream of all year. What do you think contributed to that "blitz"? Was it just location, weather conditions, baitfish? I'm wondering if it was a pattern that could've been duplicated elsewhere on the lake or was it just a once and done deal at that particular spot for that particular time frame only. I'm thinking the latter. It's a rare occasion to see topwater action well into noon on the best days hence my questions.
  15. State of the art stuff right here. If I fished Table Rock as often as I'd want to, I'd definitely take advantage of this no doubt. Thanks for implementing this for us lazy fishermen who like to scout from our phones/computers. Wish this could be implemented on all lakes I fish at. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.
  16. I'm working on getting to that day I can say the same. Glad to see you living the dream. My dream anyways.
  17. How does a deer completely duck an arrow flying over 300 fps? How do you miss shooting at a flock of ducks so thick you can't see the sky? Why is it impossible to keep eye contact with a fine looking young lady with cleavage bursting out of her see through blouse? Some things in this world are not meant to be understood but marveled.
  18. Dan, do you even work? lol. You're always out fishing and so I was wondering if you're retired, a millionaire, or CEO of Apple or something.
  19. Rainy days are my favorite days to be on the water. As long as no lightning or tornadoes are involved, I'm out there.
  20. Goldfish will work in a pinch. Walleye will hit anything if presented to them correctly. I've caught them on plastic fish before.
  21. 4 lb smallie? That's a very nice one.
  22. Bill is a legend. I don't doubt Bill can catch tuna at table rock on the ned.
  23. Thanks for the report. How was the water clarity up there? And water temp?
