  1. I use this one........ http://search.yahoo.com/search?ei=utf-8&fr=aaplw&p=shaw+grigsby+knot
  2. Man I would love to have those chartreuse, the shad colored one and a couple of the green crawdad ones. Those are fish catchers up here.
  3. Yes I will agree on just leaving it if it is away from the boat. I should have worded it better. I meant more so when it is close to the boat and shallow enough that you pretty much jerk the bait out of the water. That is when I throw back immediately. Can still see the swirl or the hole in the moss from the bite to aim at. In those cases try going back in immediately and I think you will get bit more. Maybe not though. LOL
  4. When fishing with plastics and you miss a bite; do you re-rig your bait on the hook so it is just right or immediately throw back (no matter how the plastic is on the hook) to the exact spot you missed the fish? I throw back immediately with however the plastic is on the hook and it seems I almost always get bit again. Doesn't matter if it is a craw, creature or even a soft jerkbait. Just throw it back and let it sink until the hit; which usually is pretty much right away. The reason I ask is it seems on the fishing shows they always re-rig the bait before throwing back. I am not going to change but it got me wondering why they take the time to re-rig when in my experience it is better not to.
  5. Happy birthday!!
  6. Then when you get to around the $125 or so mark; a person just has to find some more stuff to get to $150 and that free shirt!!
  7. Thanks for posting!!
  8. They look great!!
  9. Just had to post this huh??!! Thanks to you I went to buy a few of them and ended up buying a bunch more crap I really didn't need. I couldn't just buy them and checkout; oh no I had to look around the site again and start adding crap to the cart!! Seriously though; thanks for posting it.
  10. I agree the best deal would be a slightly used boat. Since you asked best deal for a new boat; the 496 by Charger......... http://www.chargerboats.com/specialOffers.html
  11. Let us know how it works.
  12. Hey Bill; when you get a chance could you check your PM's.
  13. Yepper; I have that same problem! LOL Even when I just go fish the pond out of the little jon boat I end up taking around 6-7 rods with me. LOL Wouldn't need more than 2 but what fun is that. lol
  14. While there are things (like a good top water bite) that I like to do; I 'prefer' to do what ever it takes to catch fish.
  15. Thanks again everyone. It is truly appreciated!! Bill: we are definitely looking forward to having you get us pointed in the right direction! Showed my wife the pics and she may be more pumped up than I am. I love smallies but she goes nuts over them. LOL Trust me when I say I agree simple is good. It is just a good idea to have some other ideas from people on what to try in case what you get us started on doesn't work one day for some reason. Where we come from the 'deep' part of our lakes are 30 feet and what we call clear water is really dirty water for you guys. If we are fishing 15 foot down that is deep fishing for us. LOL I don't have a clue when it comes to you all's DEEP, CLEAR water so the simpler the better. The exception to the dirty water up here would be my in-laws ponds as they are pretty darn clear unless we have a big rain. It turns out pretty good numbers of 6-7 pound largemouth with a 9-7 being the biggest out of it. The ponds are fun but we really enjoy getting the bass boat out on the bigger lakes though. Here is a pic of the 9-7 that I caught right before I let her go back. Yeah I know I was in camo but we were fishing after shooting a bunch of doves. If any of you all ever get up to south central nebraska/north central kansas and want to fish some ponds; look me up. Here is a 6-11............ And a 5-8 that kinda shows what the pond looks like although that is only about a 1/4 of the pond...............
  16. I would rather day fish on a lake I am not familiar with. I will bring my black lights along though and give it a go close to where we are staying. Night fishing is fun but just a little nervous on unfamiliar waters. Thanks for the idea though!!
  17. I should have some of those. Thanks again!
  18. Thanks! We have Bill Babbler scheduled to take us out on the first day we are there. With what all I see him post on here and being recommended highly I am sure we will have a great time with him. Hopefully the fish cooperate and he gets us pointed in the right direction; especially the smallies!
  19. Thanks!! I have some of that color but not sure if they are the #13 or not. Will have to check on that.
  20. Man a good top water bite would be a ton of fun!! Is the spawn usually over by the first week of May?
  21. Wife and I were planning on going to Bull Shoals the first part of May but changed plans and are now coming to TR instead. Hopefully we are coming at a good time. Bill Babler was nice enough to get us scheduled on our first day there so I am sure he will get us pointed in the right direction on how to catch some bass!! We were down a couple years ago but it was middle of summer so I am sure what we learned then will be of no help this spring. With that said if anyone would be so kind as to give us some ideas on what to expect/need to use it would be greatly appreciated! That way if we don't already have it in the boat we can stop by Bass Pro on the way and stock up. LOL We will be staying at Kimberling City if it makes a difference on what/how to fish. Don't worry about us frying up any of your bass as we are strictly catch and release on all bass!! I was lucky enough to catch a 9lb7oz largemouth up here and after some quick measurements for a replica and a couple pics was happy as hell to see her swim away to hopefully be caught another day. Thanks, Dave
