  1. I've never seen it on a Chevy, but have on older Ford's. Tugging on the wheel repeatedly will ruin the bearings in the column.
  2. I had one for the first time in a few years a couple months ago, I swear that the patties are way thinner and smaller than they used to be. Used to be my favorite cheap chicken sandwich. As far as I'm concerned the only thing McDonalds had going for them was that they were cheap, and they aren't that cheap anymore. Some people worship their fries, but I think a fry is a fry, no real preference, there's only so much you can do to a fried potato. There's a small chain called Burger Time, used to be one in Detroit Lakes, MN. Probably one of the best burger joints there ever was in the area, the building was demolished for the highway diversion and they never reopened. From what I've heard from family the chain is nothing like it used to be though. Any Long John Silvers or A&W fans here? Used to go to the A&W in Lowry City occasionally before they closed it. Haven't been to LJS in years, but used to like it.
  3. If I get the itch for a fast food burger, it's hard to beat a Whopper. Sonic is a close second. I used to like Wendy's until they started using sweet pickles.
  4. I started seeing the increase in traffic that first spring when Covid shutdowns hit, and it hasn't really let up since. Spring/summer 2019 was my favorite year to date, most people stayed home because of the floods.
  5. Jeez, that tire was about 100 miles from being slick anyway.
  6. For a deep cycle you can do like Wrench says. I personally don't think those digital testers are worth a crap. Old school carbon pile testers are the way to go, but they aren't testing for reserve capacity like you want in a deep cycle.
  7. Or that the moon is in the right phase, the president side-eyed an oil exec, or whatever other random excuse they can find....
  8. This time of year I don't work them aggressively. I probably move the rod tip less than a foot, just enough for it to hop and glide a little. Sometimes I jiggle the rod tip and try to rock it as well. In the summer you can work them very aggressively. Snap it hard off the bottom and let it fall on a slack line. Tom Boley shows it pretty well in one of his videos. Most fish will indeed pin it to the bottom and you will hook them on the next jerk. I know guys do pretty well with spoons, but they're hit or miss for me. Last winter I did far better with the drop shot and a plastic, they wouldn't hardly touch a spoon.
  9. I used to like Fireball but it's too syrupy for me now. Same with Southern Comfort. I always thought cinnamon whiskey would go good with egg nog but never tried it.
  10. I would be more worried about getting knock-offs. Amazon is awful about that stuff because of how their warehouses are stocked. I can't speak for their waders first hand, but Tidewe makes some of the best rubber boots I've ever had. Maybe the waders are worth a look too.
  11. Pretty much the same story today, lots of whites, a few crappie and one dink walleye. About every time I would find a pod of fish, I would think "I bet those are walleyes". Nope, whites. Every time. On the bottom, suspended, on top of brush, everywhere.
  12. I have trolled Rogue deep divers before and had good luck with them. I have a few of their jerkbaits but I'm not really proficient with them, or any jerkbait for that matter.
  13. The crappie fishing has been excellent, far better than the dink fest of 2019 and 2020. As for walleye, been the best year as far as numbers go, but not good for average size. Only had a few this year that beat 20. I'm getting ready to head back that way, wish me luck.

    ramps

I put in at Crabtree tonight and didn't see any ice anywhere. Water was 37* and the bite was hot. Especially for white bass if those are your thing. All on jigging raps in deep brush, the bigger crappie were down in it and the whites were suspended above it.
  15. My buddy has been putting a hurting on them. Bluffs near the river channel should be heating up by now.

    Spoonbill

Just a $20 fryer from Walmart, I think that's what makes it worthwhile versus a skillet, more accurate temp control. I guess if there's one verdict here, eat it fresh.

    Spoonbill

What's the secret to making them things taste good? I fried some last night, and man, it was not good. Real fishy tasting. We did everything you're supposed to, pulled out the spinal cord, trimmed all the red meat, etc.. It was not the freshest, been in the freezer since last April but I figured it would've been fine. Any suggestions?
  18. I bet they'll work. What kind of paint did you use? My "plan" was to use rattle cans, and maybe a stencil for the stripes. Perch and black/silver are my favorite colors. Mustad triple grips are my favorite trebles.
  19. Yeah the fins are supposed to be the other way. In the winter I don't think it would matter that much since you aren't working them that aggressively, but in the summer you'd want them so it'll dart/glide like it's supposed it. Or who knows, you may have just discovered the way to make it irresistibly dart on the up swing.
  20. I had some club points to burn so I went with the Artix set from BPS. Fit seems pretty good, they have an ankle gaiter deal to keep them from slipping over your boots. The Magellans did not have that and you'd end up walking on the cuffs, that really bugged me.
  21. I'm with Wrench here, I think a standard sewing thread style bobber stop would pass right through a bullet/sliding weight. The plastic tab style may not. Why not just use an egg weight and peg it with a toothpick?
  22. In other words, a twofer. If it's after your livestock, it's fair game. Or just SSS.
  23. That's what they were originally invented for from what I've read, but only within the last decade have started gaining popularity in open water. You will lose a lot more fishing them on the bottom in the summer but it's pretty effective and probably my favorite way to fish walleyes. If you drop into an active pod of fish you can just pull them in one after another. They give a pretty solid return on 2D sonar so you can see them as they fall and stop them before the snaggy stuff, like if you're after crappie suspended over a brush pile, and of course they show up well on Livescope too.
  24. Crappie love the #5. Keep us updated on the process, now is the time to stock up for summer.
  25. I like Fireline. Found it has a little more memory that lessens wind knots and looping around the rod tip. Plus it's easier to tie with. Lighter is not always better. I have some 10lb Power Pro that is the absolute worst about snagging in screws and rivets, or knotting around the rod tip.
