Want some of that. Still a couple weeks out for me. Hope it holds up. Good job! Thanks for the report.
  2. I know there are many posts about these heads but I'm just looking for best location for ordering from. 1/10th ounce or 1/16th ounce, size 1 or 2 hooks? Have some with open hooks but thinking guard would be good for some situations. Thanks
  3. 5 fish, 20 pounds of spots? Wouldn't that be something!!
  4. OP, yes good points on confidence in you bait and size of your bait in relation to shad size.
  5. Alex, agreed, in clear water & on clear sky days I like to use more natural or more transparent/translucent/ghost jerkbaits, unless the fish are super agressive. But heck, fish what you have confidence in. We all have our favourites.
  6. I have heard "use neutral baits on cloudy day and flashy ones on sunny days" forever and everywhere. In all my years fishing I have not made that correlation and have had success both using that suggestion and vice versa. Is that just based upon your personal success with that? Seems that if there is less light a flashy bait would bring more attention and if there is more light there would be less need for flash. Interested in you comments.
  7. Vernon, just got a huge laugh at part of your post -> "Just want to make sure that whatever I do buy for more immediate use is as close as I can get to waste free...". Just got through "classifying" my unused waste baits. Hope noone ever sees this collection. When I think of what I might have been able to buy of other never-to-be-used baits it's sickening.
  8. Jozark, that's quite a list. Might want to include some topwater (Redfin, Spook) and some finesse worms (fish doctors, centipedes) for mojo or carolina rigs. Also consider original shadraps as they catch fish. Keitech swim baits, either on open jig head or weighted weedless rig, are a must. Good luck. Though the process might be intimidating it sounds like fun. Go for best quality you can afford. And best of luck at the lake.
  9. Good article and should be a lesson learned for all who were involved, as well as the rest of us, that the "win-at-any-cost attitude" is out of place.
  10. Good story! Great report! He is now "hooked" for life. Thanks.
  11. Just can't decide between the Float-n-Ned or the Ned A-rig. Will need a new rod for each set-up.
  12. Yes, good info. I fish the grub often. Mostly use GYCB 5" in Smoke w/pepper or Clear w/Large Silver Flake (now discontinued??). Yes, the 4" are fragile as the connection between tail & body is very small. The 5" ones are not made like that. Mostly 1/4 oz but some 3/8 oz. Super versatile bait. Swing grub along edges of cedars for a hot bite most of the year. Clear water, prespawn & spawn gravel bite can be cast & "dead stick" for 15 to 20 seconds to give them time to swim over and eat it, if they don't get it on the drop. Have caught about everything in the lake on the grub including gar, channels, walleye & carp. Am fishing swimbaits more and more though and like them much also.
  13. Love the jerk bait bite. Can fish it much of the day even with limited success, just knowing that any moment a big'un is gonna load up on it. Will give it a shot tomorrow, but at LOZ rather than T Rock. Just what is it about that bite that makes it so exciting, so much fun and a favorite of many, me being one?
  14. Happy Thanksgiving to all. I visit this site most days, enjoy your posts & appreciate information. Food is almost ready here & I will do my part in not letting any go to waste. Have a good one.
  15. 5bites, Thanks for that update from the NRAILA site. I've contacted my representatives regarding corps rule and ccw. Hope that changes nationwide soon.
  16. One way color makes a big difference is when I tie on a bait & color I have had success with in the past, my confidence skyrockets & my focus intensifies as I am expecting bites.
  17. I've come to the realization that I'll never ever use all of my baits in my lifetime. Does that mean I won't buy anymore? I just saw 4 new color Warts that will end up in my boat/tackle collection. And always need a few new jerkbaits every winter. Been looking.
  18. Spro Little John w/circuit board bill
  19. If killing it cost you more than a freezer full of meat and veggies bought from the store...... ? That's a tough one there. Well some folks are just hunters to the heart, and would have to disagree on that one.
  20. I checked this out and read those strories for hours. Amazing. Thanks.
  21. Danger, I also had myself a short-timers calendar in my 13th & 14th months, Central Highlands, Army Infantry, a few years prior to the big fold in SE Asia. Have forgotten all the short jokes. Never made it to Saigon. Glad you made it back.
  22. Donna, nice LM. Remember, let you partner catch one occasionally.
  23. 3.8" rainbow shimmer, white crystal & k-shad. Looking good.
  24. Been looking at those Kalin's baits. May try some if available in little larger size.
  25. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/video.html?pcode=JIPROP Has anyone tried these? Good looking baits & colors. Big $ though. About same $ as Duo Realis or Lucky Craft spinbaits. 3", 3/10 oz., check out video.
