  1. I am a big play baby and like toys. Especially useful toys. I had a Lowrance LMS 350 A, one of the early ones they sold in that series. It was a game changer for me.
  2. That's the way I do cornbread. Hot cast iron, then with some oil in it, then the batter and then in the oven. Works great. I'm sure the pizza is the same. Never used cast iron for it though - a hot stone, and then a little oil and then the pizza on it and then the oven.
  3. Well this whole Polenta V. Grits debate made me curious. I've learned that grits are made from dent corn and often but apparently not always from hominy. And polenta is made from flint corn. The dent corn has a form of starch that cooks up creamier while the flint corn has a starch that retains a granier texture even after cooking. So you're both wrong.
  4. Food fight!!!! Both of you guys are killer cooks. I'm OK, but know better when I see it.
  5. I recently bought a boat. Lowrance Elite Chirp 7 is what I settled on.
  6. Connect RV to generator the same way you connect RV to shore power. 5 KW generator at least if you want to run AC with generator power.
  7. Thanks for a great day on the water Dave. You are as detailed and well thought out in your approach to fishing, and as good at it as anyone I've ever had the pleasure to meet and fish with. Had a lot of fun. Have to mention one of those classic Ned bites. Answered the phone and in the middle of the conservation..... well you know the rest of the story. Good call on the Canada craw Ham. That and PBJ were all we used. I also want to echo what Dave said about this site being a great resource. For information and also for meeting some real quality people. Every single person I've met through here has been 100%, and I've gotten to learn a lot from fishing with them. And had a lot of fun along the way. Thanks Phil for doing what you do here. Edit for Chief Gray Bear: Note the caring support I personally give fish whilst they are being photographed. That's just me, always about my little finny friends.
  8. ^^ Absolutely.
  9. There's no crying in Baseball. I know, I heard it in a movie.
  10. I still say anybody that uses Winkiedoodles in a sentence, much less as a handle is a heck of a man.
  11. It takes a big man to back up when he needs to. Good job rps. Don't know you from Adam but you are my kind of man. When a mistake is made, own it. We all make them, the difference is in how we handle them when we make one.
  12. Anybody who hasn't read "The Fish that Started it..." should. Its on the TAG site under the blog link.
  13. Grape Jelly Worms were a pond standby back when Heck was a pup.
  14. River is in great shape, just a little high, clarity is good. Note of caution: There are two trees that went down and are completely blocking the channel just above Green Bridge. With the two recent high water events, there are likely more in places that are not visible from bridges.
  15. Nice Dave.
  16. If this keeps up I'm going to have to get a Royals hat.

    What's Cooking?

Lovey got into it before I got the "finally it's done photo" And then I got into it and didn't take a plated picture. It was pretty darn good. Roast was super tender and the veggies were nice and done without being mush. And I did get to finish mowing the yard.

    What's Cooking?

That's a sirloin roast. Barked on a hot mesquite charcoal fire. The liquid is a pretty fair red wine and a little EVOO and some kitchen bouquet. The crystals on top are salt. There are three big cloves of garlic cut into slices and then inserted in slices in the roast. Going on the egg. While I mow. With the lid on. Roast at about 250 for maybe three hours. Then prep some vegetables. Yukon Gold potatoes, sweet onion, baby carrots and a rutabaga cubed. If you've never had rutabaga, think turnip without the bitter bite. One of my favorite root vegetables. Let it cook some more. Will post up when done.
  21. That would have been the smart move if they didn't have other plans for them. Probably needed a photo though.
  22. Buzzards gotta eat too, same as worms. Thus sayeth The Outlaw Josey Wales. In nature, there is no waste. Count on that.
  23. Way to start him out on a fairly decent beginner's rig. That's really awesome, lots more good times to come! Talk about a mini me. Dang he looks just like you.
