Patience is a virtue. It took a lot of research and years of policy development to do something so seemingly straightforward as controlling nutrients in wastewater discharges to Table Rock Lake. Magnify the COVID thing by about a billion levels of complexity and degrees of outcomes. It's hard. People aren't perfect and neither is science. But science remains as our only real hope.
We don't have absolute control. But our personal decisions and behaviors do affect our own lives. That is also science. From a person who graduated a long time ago with a degree in Environmental Health, spent a lifetime working in that field and is thus, a true believer in real science.
That's the worst part. Everything is reported as factual even when it's nothing more or less than bloviation to gear up whoever your followers may be. True for both sides of the political spectrum.
Take a deep breath, take a nice shot, watch MNF and relax. Have a brat or two with some kraut and spicy mustard and have a beer with it.
At least that's my plan. And then go fishing. With friends and so on...
I watched the original Indiana Jones a few days ago. There was a little monkey in it and if ever one needed shot it was that one. Sneaky little traitor he was.
I do not like them at all either. Big, little, trained, wild, whatever. No thanks to be around me.
My grandson works for The Nature Conservancy. Controlled burning is his main activity. And now culling deer and hogs on a place they own near Ada, OK. Prior to his OK job he worked in Louisiana burning to help longleaf pine, at a place in North Dakota on the Missouri River Breaks helping manage a bison herd, Georgia burning again for longleaf pine habitat and finally as a wildfire fighter in Oregon. He's had an interesting career so far and now has a lot of fire related certifications. TNC is a good outfit and they treat their people well.
To all you people who are having or have had cancer treatments - I've not gone through it myself, but have seen enough to know that it's about as tough as it gets.
You have my sincerest best wishes for good outcomes, each and every one of you..
People will hate on me for saying this - but that never stopped me before. The current MDC director is a good person who I've known for a long time and she is a legit outdoorsman. And a very good politician too which counts for a lot in that job.
You don't know the one about why Nebraska took out grass and put in astroturf on the football field?
Couldn't keep the cheerleaders from grazing between downs.
