  1. Lower James has a lot of fish. Lot of people too so early or late is the deal if on a weekend. Shhhh. Don't tell anybody I told you.
  2. There are a lot of long pools between Roubidoux Creek and Boiling Springs. You will get your arm exercise for certain.
  3. Good luck, and don't worry, the tarp trick has always worked for me.
  4. My favorite is the one I'm on at the time. They all have their pluses and minuses. One of the biggest pluses is how hard the place is to get to, distance between accesses and number of outfitters around. The harder it is to get to, the further between accesses and the fewer the outfitters the better.
  5. Just lay it over it.
  6. If he's living under the porch, near there. I've never been sprayed when the tarp is over the trap and skunk is in the dark and can't see you. But like the investment guys all say, past performance doesn't guarantee future results. P.S. Do let us know how this turns out. You may become eligible for membership in the Brotherhood of the Skunk.
  7. I've got a 4 WD extra cab with the Hemi and get 22 hwy. between here and Nevada and back. 17 overall. Best truck I have ever owned but it's still new (7K ,miles), want to see how it holds up. I've been chevy man up until now. Test drive and price did it for me on the Ram.
  8. So. Is questionable data better or worse than no data? I think that largely depends on how many data sources you have, the more sources the less likely error trends would vary far from the expected scatter and the far less likely bias is to be introduced.
  9. Run the numbers to see how many miles it takes to pay out. Hint: It's a lot.
  10. I am a skunk expert. Founder of the Brotherhood of the Skunk, an exclusive group of fellow terriermen who know from first hand experience. To deal with your skunk: Live trap with a can of cat food for bait. Tarp over the live trap to pick it up and transport. Trap and skunk into river. If the skunk can hold his breath for ten minutes, release him to swim in the river. Otherwise on the bank for buzzards, crows or worms. About the odor. There are three things I guarantee to work, nothing else will. It's July. What will work to remove skunk odor from the dog are August, September and October. P.S. Open the can of cat food. Skunks are illiterate and cannot read the label on the can of cat food. Even if they could I doubt they would be able to open it.
  11. Weigh, photo, release. Super complicated, I can see why nothing like that would ever work for a tournament.
  12. I thought you said you were using a tube. Still, stronger and multi hook set is worth a try.
  13. The watersheds have more to do with water quality in Truman and LOZ vs Beaver, Table Rock and Bull Shoals, though you are right to be concerned about poor treatment from inadequate septic systems.
  14. When you're fishing a tube, it's a crayfish to the smallmouth. They will take it and it will be in their crushers which is very hard to get a hook in. Set the hook twice at least and your lost fish numbers will go down.
  15. Thief and rabble rouser. And rabble is the word that fits for his supporters. No use whatsoever for his type in my world.
  16. Incredible. Great job.
  17. Mitch f nailed it in one. LE needs to work a lot harder on that one and we all need to elect Sheriffs, PA's and Judges who will deal with problems instead of taking the easy way out and not deal with the real problem sector of our society.
  18. Lay off the Manhattans and watch the pounds melt away.
  19. Buddy of mine found a huge chicken of the woods last week. He's a good friend and gave me a bag already cleaned and ready to cook along with a package of Don's Chuck Wagon mushroom batter to take with me down to the White River over the 4th. Man, that is good eating. They really ought to call those things shrimp of the woods, great with cocktail sauce!
  20. Good thing you were there to pick them up.

Nice looking spot. Best that you had it to yourself 100%. Next time post a pic of the hook in your finger.
  23. Great post. Those poppers are really art, with function. Very cool.
  24. Went down to Rim Shoals and spent about the nicest 4th of July weekend I can remember. Remarkable weather!! Cabin at Rim Shoals Resort was immaculate, very comfortable and walking distance to the ramp. 100% recommendation on them from me. Friday the water was running about 2000 CFS or so and fishing was very good. Fished morning and afternoon with Ham. He's a heck of a fisherman and really knows that river. We boated somewhere between 40 and 50 fish on Friday, mostly rainbows. First fish or the day for me was a nice Cutthroat and Ham caught a couple of nice browns along with the rainbows. He also caught a really colored up cutthroat. They're really pretty fish. Saturday the generation was down and so was the fishing. Caught a few in the morning, took a long break and a nap and met Ham and Richard Cross, AKA Zig Jig Master at Cotter. Generation was still very low and fishing was tough for me, but not too bad for Mr. Cross or Ham. The river started rising this morning around 7:30 or so. I was only out for a couple of hours, caught one nice brown and an 18 1/2 rainbow that was super fat. Maybe boated another dozen or so. Great trip, great weather, no craziness, time with friends, time with the wife, some good food. Awesomeness all the way around. That White River really is a heck of a resource. Oh, also met John Berry Friday AM at the ramp, he was the second one there after me. Seems to be a super nice fellow.
