  1. I used to duck hunt on the Missouri. No disasters, just used common sense.
  2. I'd like to fish on Friday and Saturday. Is anyone coming over early in the day on Friday? If not can I make local shuttle arrangements or maybe put in on my own, float to Sunburst and retrieve my rig Friday evening.
  3. I have that exact same blue humpback rebel tied on right now. The rod is hanging up in the shop, but you get my drift. Last time I was out, it was wet.
  4. You need to send a bill along with those kind of reports.
  5. I put Friday on the calendar as a vacation day. I'll camp in my truck for this deal so don't care if it rains or gets cold either for that matter.
  6. That little spot on the river side of the lock for the wipers? I have killed them there on rattletraps this time of year.
  7. At least we have water this year. Plus I saw my first serviceberry in bloom this morning. A cool wet summer would be fine with me. But I'm not a guide. Sorry for your lost business.
  8. How about meeting up at Roy's store around 7:30 or 8:00 for breakfast? I know for a fact the water there is safe to drink and the food is pretty good too.
  9. Well OK then. Want to meet there Friday morning and get out on the Bryant? I'm bringing my canoe and flatbed. Will solo in the canoe if we can get it worked out.
  10. I've been considering it but wasn't sure if I could get a shuttle worked out. I'd like to get on Bryant one day and NFOTW one day, or maybe the upper NFOTW to do a little smallmouth pursuit. Never been on the Bryant but it sure looks nice. And only one time on the NFOTW so I'm a total rookie in that part of the world.
  11. One more time for the record. Its a paper mill bill plain and simple. They're the money players in Arkansas that have limits on TDS, Sulfates and Chlorides that they'd like to see relaxed. The changes they're looking for should not be a problem for anyone who doesn't care about macroinvertebrates or the aquatic food chain.
  12. Classic baits for whites in my mind are 1/4 oz white rooster tail vibrax with chrome blade and shad rap.
  13. It's a paper mill bill. Hope it doesn't become law.
  14. Excellent.
  15. I'd bet pickled pickerel would be something worth giving a whirl and that would deal with the bones in a very tasty way.
  16. So you're saying leave the Mad River at home but still bring the trailer, just load it with beer instead?
  17. I was around for the first Earth Day. 1 of the biggest differences is there's a lot more of us now. We've learned a lot about how to be careful with our pl.anet. For which I'm very grateful
  18. One of my niece's famous lines comes to mind: Who made you wear that hat?
  19. That made the evening better. Thanks.
  20. I'd put them under the rear seat facing forward, one on each side. Tip: Use a lighted rocker switch to control power so you don't forget and leave them on and run the battery down.
  21. I'm definitely not a denier, but I do think I'm a realist. I don't think humanity has it in them to stop burning coal, oil and natural gas until it's gone.
  22. I can cast 3 feet. I make the sausage here at the place and really only need some idea of for how many. Again, thanks, looking forward to it.
  23. I checked with the war department, and I am in. I live in Ozark and have been on the NFOTW a grand total of one time in a boat and that was a long time ago. Looking forward to learning more about that river. Tell me where I'm figuring wrong with what follows. 1. Drive over Friday night and meet up, set up and sleep. My truck has a topper set up for me to camp in and out of. 2. Get up early on Saturday, eat something and go float and fish. I'll bring my canoe as I like to solo. Watch you guys that know the river and copycat a little bit and also try to learn a little bit about how to fly fish. I'm 61 and got my first fly fishing outfit for my birthday this year. I can work a fly rod (cast) reasonably well but don't know jack about actually fishing with one. 3. Get to where we're going and eat and sleep again. 4. Go home Sunday AM. I'll bring my canoe on a 18' flatbed and can defiinitely help with the shuttle. More than happy to bring food or kick in some $$ to help out. I'm a bad assed dutch oven cook but only have one. I can do some biscuits and gravy for breakfast, ribs and beans for dinner or what have you. Let me know what to bring please. Thanks for putting this up. Best to you. Rick.
  24. Harold Ensley taught me to dip white bass in yellow mustard, then the breading and then deep fry them. Try it, you will like it I promise. Properly cleaned, they're mighty fine. Leave red meat on any freshwater fish and you are in for a nasty tasting bite.
