  1. I had an experience this week , my buddy was going to buy a used 94 champion . Some kid ended up buying it for a 1,000 over asking price and listed it less than 12 hrs later for 4,000 over what he paid. I had to call him out because he was touting how nice of a boat it is how the motor is perfect blah blah blah … I’m like dude you haven’t owned it a day how the hell do you know what the motors like .
  2. Hey guys ! I’m looking to plan a week long kayak fishing vacation up north . Hopefully jumping lakes across Michigan’s UP and Wisconsin , or travel across Minnesota hitting different lakes . I’m assuming most of the small lakes in either location will have fish . Also I assume either state that the lakes are for public use . I’m looking for input of anyone who has done a tour like this . How did it go ? Did you explore out of a home base location fishing lakes close , or did you drive a line through the state staying at different inns ? Lastly what would be the best time of year to do this kind of thing . I would very much prefer to do it when the skeeters are not killing us . But not sure what the fishing is like up there in the fall .
  3. I’ve been out there a lot lately and the fish have been biting . Had a 4.14 the other day . And several 3+ pounded the last two weeks
  4. I have a spare 82 fortex that I’m going to use
  5. Springfield , willing to drive though
  6. Thinking about buying a new Lowe Jon boat . Wandering if anyone has anything laying around that I could take off their hands ! There are a few small lakes around Springfield that I need a boat for .
  7. That’s the only way I’ve ever targeted them also . I’ll probably just start out on gravel and hope to run into them
  8. Finally was able to get out last Thursday . The boat had been in the shop and with starting my new business I had been very busy . Dumped in at the state park around daylight . Water was stained only about 4-6ft visibility . Started in a spawning pocket fished for about an hour and finally caught a keeper smallie . Then the bite really picked up . Next five fish were all healthy keepers including a 3 lb spot caught on top . Made a move and only picked up one fish but it was a big one about 4.5 lbs spawned completely out and looked rough as a cob . That fish came in top also . Went 2 hours without another bite . Last spot for the day yielded 3 more keepers with two largemouth over 3 lbs . These two were caught within 30 seconds of one another . And they were healthy and fat . Finished the day with 10 keepers and the best five would have went 16-17lbs . No real pattern just a few here and there . Mostly shallow by table rock standards . FB jig and vixen did the damage Next question . I figure the bluegill will be spawning soon . I’ve only ever drop shot for them later in the year . And caught a huge mess in later June .Wonder what depth to target for the big ones, or just cover that mid depth range to the bank ? I could care less about the small ones I’m needing some fried fish in a bad way .
  9. Mercury dealer of my choice surely won’t break it off in my A right 😂
  10. If it doesn’t work Saturday I’ll swing by 😈 bring you out of opti retirement for one last hurrah
  11. After taking my boat to boatwrx in Osage beach the mystery problem has been resolved . It’s was spark plugs ! They were the original plugs in the motor and they were black . Slapped new ones in and they tested it today . Issue resolved . I definitely would have though the first mechanic would have looked at them but I’m convinced they don’t know what the hell they are doing ! I’m back baby !
  12. Oh it will work .
  13. Like mentioned above the tenacity works the best , but you are going to pay a pretty penny for it ! A shovel works well too at a fraction of the cost.
  14. I thought the same about the boats and not being able to fish the main lake for 6 months
  15. Hey Wrench ,Why does lake of the ozarks have more big bass in it compared to the other major lakes in the state?
  16. I think we have reached an impasse. I’ll say it again if the wake is generated from outside the no wake zone , then it’s perfectly legal. And if a wave from a bass boat intersects your dock , you claim they are disrespectful? I just don’t see it man. It must be hell living on the lake sitting on your dock and just looking for something to complain about. It’s actually comical to me that you went through all the trouble calling the guy out and then contacting the tournament director . You would be a solid HOA president. And I’m not blaming you , what would I even blame you for ? I think it’s a stupid perspective you have . BTW next time you’re out cruising around the lake just remember that wave your throwing is going to travel all the way to the shore. So look to your left and right and make sure there isn’t a dock on either side of the lake . Let me know how that goes. Only thing left to do is let us know what cove your in so we can be sure to slow down. Here’s one you can use too, when someone is fishing your dock run down and start the hoist pump up . Then start the boat up and rev it up a few times . I know your kind ...
  17. I agree that a boat operator is always responsible for there wake. But you’re fighting a losing battle if you think someone is going to be citied for it . How is someone supposed to prove that. There is totally two sides to this story , the biggest being no one is breaking the law lol . Jesus. I’m sure it sucks when a wave comes by and sloshes the water around . I haven’t seen a single instance where you’ve come in here for your yearly update and something actually has been damaged . I’m actually very very respectful when boating . And if I came in on plane and shut down in the middle of a cove outside of the no wake buoys and you came telling me to show respect . Well let’s just say you’re not getting an ounce man . From what I gather this is an all time Karen post .
  18. So I just read like 4 years of crap from this post . I have two questions, are these fisherman running in between your dock and the buoy ? Or is this just a big misunderstanding of how no wake areas operate ? I mean just putting a random buoy out and expecting no waves is kinda ridiculous.
  19. Might be the gas cap . My tundra freaked me out one time and it was loose
  20. Decided two weeks ago were we going to do the upper Jacks from Prongs to Rymer . I believe it totaled about 16 miles . Put in at Y hwy South Prongs water was @ 222 cfs upon arrival . We were greeted with some male anatomy painted on every tree at the Access . F bombs painted on all the rocks . Felt really nice leaving the vehicle there for the shuttle . The river was perfectly clear and just amazing . My buddy fished for 39 minutes or so without a bite. I spotted a small hole up ahead of him with a tree crossing it . I eased up there picked up the rod and told him . “ I’m going to get out to a lead on my first cast” sure enough landed a nice 15 inch smallmouth . This fish ended up being the biggest of the trip . We probably caught 50-60 fish in three days , vast majority were under 8” long though . Also, there is an ugly portage about a mile and half down from prongs . A tree all the way across the fast fall . With a sweeper right to the roof wad. Definitely not a spot to mess with . So we portaged around it .First day we floated about 3 miles and set up camp . The first night was cold 🥶 getting down to 26 . We were equipped though and stayed warm in the bag . All three days there wasn’t a single cloud in the sky and in three days we only seen 2 people on the river and they were just doing mile long day floats . I will say the river is a bit tricky . Sunday morning first rapid the girl high centers on a big rock in fast current . She was ok until she wasn’t and flipped . Nice wake for the morning up but she stood up and waded out . Only lost a pocket knife . There are so many caves on the float it’s crazy . Bluff after bluff with deep blue water . Made it to Jam up cave on Sunday . Probably the coolest thing I’ve seen in the state . Its really intimidating walking into it . And a far drop to the left . All in all we had a fantastic three days on the river . It was the first time in the Jacks and it did not disappoint. I wouldn’t recommend floating it at anything less than 200 cfs . On a different note , when we drove out of Rymers and got cell signal we each had messages from our friends . Letting us know some terrible news. One of my good friends and his family were in a car accident on highway 13 Saturday . His wife didn’t make and passed away. She was the kind of person who made everyone’s life better RIP Jess Get out there live , explore , laugh , drink , fish . Experience all you can for we never know when it’s all done . Until next time cheers !
  21. We’re are lucky to have lakes that really don’t have dead water . Some of the lakes I’ve fished around the country fish so dang small compared to anything here .
