  1. I wish I could help, but from what i know about shad, timing is important. They, according to those in the know, say that shad spend the night at the shoreline and then move to open water to feed. I'm sure the middle of a cove could be open water, but giving them time to get there might be a critical point. very early morning searches might be, too early?
  2. My first thought from the description concerning rocks was foxfire. The eyes could be several things from cats to spiders.
  3. It might come down to how much outrage there are from voters in the prosecutors county. If they think someone is gigging their fish and and then wasting what could be a good meal for them, well you get the picture.
  4. The Disco's are great trippers, but barges to fish out of. I would start it at $500 and see where it goes because it really depends on what it's worth to you. They are common and the "Like new" doesn't last long in the Ozarks. I know there are a million opinions on smallies where and when, but I've found them to cooperate all day to some extent, but you have to find them. They often act more like trout then bass and will seek of better water, cooler and/or oxygenated, at will. They like the flow.
  5. You know Al I agree with you this is trivial, but maybe that is the real problem in it. I seriously doubt that the state of Washington is so well off they have no problems facing their citizens and have the time to regulate their terminology. It's not a whole lot different than watching Washington DC spend fruitless hours collecting unearned dividends while they put off making serious decisions hoping eventually they will get their way and a reelection plug.
  6. She will be at Starvy Creek in September Jack. http://www.starvycreek.com/
  7. There were always a few rattlers that were killed in the Gap.
  8. I'm offended, a fisher is a 4 legged animal that crapsnin the woods.
  9. Lets hope a hard lesson is coming soon. Good job being persitant smallieb.
  10. Maybe you have some of the bad genes invading the hive?
  11. I think most on here who know you from the forum know it wasn't something you wanted to see. give him a break chief. Nice to get together, but man you could gives an idea of the watershed without giving the location of the retreat.
  12. I haven't stayed there in awhile, last time was in the late 70's. My son who was 6 at the time, went back with his family, 3 kids, several years ago, It's good to hear that some places still exist in an acceptable state after all these years.
  13. By dirty you mean a lot of floating material? That can happen when they shut off generation at TR. When they generate they literally tilt the surface of BS if that dam isn't generating and there is a back flow as the lake settles back to flat.
  14. I can't disagree with that, with the exception of "Most often". Whether you or i agree on anything people of all races are going to reserve some terms to push their displeasure as far as possible in certain situations. I think that is exactly why Sharpton and Jackson came to Deen's defense, they knew the perpetrator deserved it and that you can't wipe out the term as a universal expletive without allowing it when it;s deserved in describing a deserving action. Caucasians aren't immune, ask your black friends what the would call some white person who robbed them. I suspect it wouldn't be complimentary.
  15. I find the walleye on TR interesting. It seems more and more those in the know can find them. They weren't in the picture, at least to my knowledge, for many decades even though I'm sure a few Jack Salmon got caught upriver. I suppose the upside is there is know uprising by bass fisherman about the food competition.
  16. OTF it's pretty hurtful when someone robs you. I reserve the right to use the word and apply it when it fits and I wouldn't unless I thought it was an insult. I also reserve the right to use various words for other races when they're deserved. To hurt someone over an expletive made in anger or ignorance is just the kind of treatment that even blacks abhor.
  17. I believe I would be setting in a lawn chair at the outlet on lake Springfield.
  18. You and me both. I know they had a meeting to discus it, but I had the impression that there wasn't much support for it. I suppose some well connected could have added some pressure?
  19. I'm going to try and hit it a couple times next week, if I can see a break in the crowds.
  20. That's really over the top. Personally the whole thing is out of control. If they can use the word, and words for Caucasians, then any use has to be put in context. If she did indeed use it to describe someone who robbed her then it was certainly a good use of the term. If she used it when she was young, well surprise, she lived in Savannah! This whole outrage over virtually nothing coupled with all the showings of the "black" guy beating the he$$ out of the young mother doesn't really do a lot to solve any racial issues. There is also the fact that it has not always been a derogatory name. No doubt it could be said to be, but it was also a slide from negro when coupled with a southern drawl.
  21. I don't like it simply because it did away with the Pothole access. I like being able to fish that area on foot all year, especially when they were generating. The area around lower Beaver will be the same way, flooded most of the time. It will be interesting to see if they keep River Run. The campground flooded fairly often in the past and now it will only have about 6' to work with.
  22. Normal, very few.
  23. Fishslayer where does the current end when the river is normal?
  24. Not what I heard Sam, apparently the trout in the White below BS have been barely hanging on for the last 60+ years. I haven't heard that Norfolk will be raised so the ones below Norfolk are doing fine, apparently.
