  1. I like this one. http://www.cracked.com/article_19864_6-ridiculous-lies-you-believe-about-founding-america.html
  2. I'm not a big fan of those weedless loop things, usually I just run the jig hook fully exposed, but if I want a weedgaurd I'll usually rig it up this way. https://tackle.redshad.com/PekTube1.php I usually just save capri-sun straws from the kids drinks at home to rig them.
  3. I always feel like with a tube you have to fish them with an exposed jighead on a spinning rod, I won't Texas rig them unless I'm using a heavier action rod and stronger line. Feel like there's too much plastic to go through with a Texas rig and lighter line/spinning rod.
  4. What kind of hook, and how are you rigging the tube? Also, what line?
  5. From looking at his FB page he caught it in March, just posted the picture to Target Walleye in Sept. Also, Babler appears to be right about the boat.
  6. Hard to go wrong with a 7' ML Spinning Rod, 2500-3000 size reel, 6lb Fluoro, and a 1/16 Head.
  7. Won't be making it Saturday (Wedding anniversary) but plan on fishing a couple of the events next year.
  8. Yes, Pretty much all of them
  9. The Big Lebowski Band of Brothers (Not a movie, does that count? If no, Blackhawk Down) The Matrix Old School Braveheart
  10. Lol, a "Creek Chub"
  11. What did you catch them on Harris>?
  12. I think you're right... wonder how much the sponsors paid their pros to "request" the rule change. I don't think you'll see an immediate or crazy changes, except for the use of longer cranking rods, maybe some longer spinning rods for open water drop shotting, and maybe some longer flipping sticks.
  13. Packed up the girls, left mom and the baby at home, and headed for the Black River to float and camp. I figured I'd wait to take the girls after the summer crowds, but when it was still warm enough to have fun in the water. The weather definitely cooperated, and saw several other floaters, but nothing worse than PG-13. Didn't get to do too much fishing, as I was pretty much the lone paddler while also keeping an eye on the 3 year old and keeping the canoe upright, but the fish seemed willing to eat. Caught several smallies on salt n pepper tube. No fish pics, due to the circumstances above. Weather was great, fish were biting, and had some quality time with the girls.Stayed the the Black River Outfitters at Horse Shoe Camp. They portaged the canoe for $10 which I thought was a pretty good deal.

  15. Ditto on keeping your equipment dry. Make sure you rinse your reels with the hose after each time you fish to wash off the saltwater. Saltwater can really mess up your gear if it sits on there.
  16. One big thing to look for when you are down there would be the tide charts to see when current will be moving in and out of the backwaters. 20# line should be ok, but some toothy critters might break you off. Ideally I'd have like 2 set-ups - 1. A baitcaster with 50-65lb braided line, and a 20-30 -40 lb mono/fluoro leader, with a heavy weight diamond shaped sinker like 2-3ozs to keep the bait down in the current. 2. Spinning rod with 20lb braid, and 20 lb leader I'd run some live bait/ or frozen on the baitcaster- You should be able to find frozen packs of bait most places - frozen mullet or sardines. put the bait out in areas when water is pulling in or out depending on the tides. Rock jettys are great if you can find them and ones that have current running through them are even better. Catfish will steal a lot of bait, but you can hook into some reds and snook and jacks with that set up. If you keep on getting catfish, you can either try and remove the sinker and fish the bait freelined, or just move to a different area. On the spinning rod, if you are going to be fishing lures i'd go with spoons for sure. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Johnson_Silver_Minnow_Spoon/descpage-SMJ.html in gold and or silver. I really like these... http://www.wareaglelures.com/sp1-nickel.html get the heavier ones- the 7/8 oz. you can cast them a mile. I like to do a lift and drop retrieve on these. You can also fish jerkbaits for specks and reds even snook. Specks really like grass beds. Cicrcle hooks are great, nose hook the frozen sardines/mullet, or a free lined shrimp on your spinning set-up.
  17. Destination would be helpful, I can give you some more pointers if you are willing to share where you will be going.
  18. No, I had been there a month ago as well and it looked pretty similar. Used to be tons of grass and moss all over the lake, now its just muddy with no grass to be found.
  19. Has anyone been to Jefferson Lake in Forest Park lately. Stopped by after work yesterday... it looks like it might have been dredged or something. The water was really stained compared to how I remember it and all the grass mats were gone. Anyone have any info?
  20. @Flysmallie what do you use to edit your photos?
  21. Have tournament organizers buy like 50 scales to start the year. Before each launch, put some kind of unique sticker on the scale to prevent old photos, and distribute to boats. That way the scales are given to anglers rather than personal scales.
  22. Edit- the florescent/uv colors last much longer. thats why you see the neon yellow.
  23. Yeah, either I'm stupid or I don't understand these charts. Lightwaves are just frequencies right... so a lure that is red is just reflecting the red frequency back to the eye, and absorbs the rest of the colors. So when red "absorbs" you just stop seeing the red part of the light, and then you would see black. I question the whole thing though when you think of Scuba diving. These guys are well over 100ft deep, but you can still clearly see the yellow of the ropes/tank.
  24. +3, Thanks for the reel.
