Under normal conditions I find DS fish either on main lake points where it rolls off into the the channel (on the point, or over the channel but almost always at the same depths), Long docks over deep water on the main lake, and major creek arms, sunken islands, and tree tops. I dont have good electronics at all, and can still manage these fish. Just have to avoid spending too much time looking at inactive fish on your screen, I will spend no more than 20min in a spot with no bite.

This exactly, Ill switch between a traditional DS setup, a split shot rig n crawler, or slab spoon. Dont get hung up working the same spot with the same setup.

Also...the new Berkely cutter is a really nice looking bait that looks like it may be a cheaper alternative to a 110+1, if it suspends.

Ya I bought a few of those predators baits ones and painted em at work. They are pretty sweet.

Exactly!! Seems like there are lots of 15$ knock offs of a 5$ bait? And few of them wobble as aggressive as a wart. I wish there were more knockoffs of the megabass 110 plus 1. Im curious too if anyone throws hot n tots in ww situations? I dont cast either but do troll them and both have a very wide erratic wobble.

The havoc series plastics are great too for the price. They are fragile but work well. The flat dog is a great little wacky worm and you can rig it flat side down for a slow fall or skinny side down for a faster fall.

Probably the most hypocritical thing ive ever heard. this thread needs to be locked. If you wanna talk about which imaginary people the government wants us to worship do it at church or at least over pm. Also....im officially terrified of ketchup going on a rampage in the near future. I never heard anyone so willing/giddy about taking a human life.

Has anyone trolled with and without a fluoro leader and noticed a difference? I ask cuz while jigging on spinning gear a love a braid/fluoro leader but trolling im too lazy and tie braid to a snap swivel. That might be my next experiment when I go a crank draggin next.

Ya I think the braid line/soft floppy rod combo hits the "goldilocks" zone in terms of just enough rod play to let them eat the whole bait, but sturdy enough line so the hooks stick and they cant shake it. At least until someone shows me something that works better lol.

You can work the salt out of the elaztech material with lots of stretching and what not. I dont know why there is so much salt in those things. Also the tail stands up quite a bit more and moves when you rub all the salt out of it. Thats just what ive heard...i have no use for such a ridiculous lure.

NO closet anti gun sentiment here...im 100% anti- handguns they have zero purpose in society. The are completely pointless other than to kill or maim other human beings. Nobody hunts with them. Rifles/shotguns no problem, i own a few hunting weapons myself. FYI...you dont have to be trained nearly as well as you are to carry a gun around...your the exception.

No handguns allowed would be a great start on less gun deaths, sandy hook was a horrible thing, but the exception rather than the rule. Every day deaths due to handguns are the rule...they serve no purpose in society and if they were non existent there would be far fewer shootings.

"right where 4 people were shot in a car last night" and "its not the big deal you guys make it out to be" Fair enough, its just people being murdered no big deal right? there are far worse atrocities happening in the world like keeping legally caught smallmouth out of a river. Where do you suppose those guns used in the shootings were obtained? Either bought legally or stolen from someone who bought it legally. Also...I bet they werent using a scoped 30-06, prolly a handgun. They serve no purpose.

Mono has too much stretch IMO, i feel i miss a lot of bites. I like to use a braided line, with a very soft fiberglass 9ft rod, switching to this set up has caught me more fish than previously. Power pro depth hunter works best for me. Metered every 25 feet with black and white tick marks every 5. Great braid for longline trolling. Pick up a fish with x lure and y colors out, then you know exactly how deep they are, very easy to replicate and you dont need identical line counter reels. I also like leadcore line, but can usually get my baits deep enough with metered braid.

Im not sure where you live but something tells me its nowhere near st louis or any other large city...I believe 6 were shot last night in st louis. Tote that thing around in a place where you might actually need it and it would end up as a stolen murder weapon used on you.

Ya know what...as someone who went to umsl and commuted using the metro link (every stop from forest park to umsl south....yikes) ill tell you its much better NOT to be armed. Be kind courteous and blend in looking harmless. Guns just bring negative attention. Nobody on here would actually open carry in an area like that. Hell I work by th ameren plant which is not even thar bad an area and it would be a terrible idea.

Reef runners will hit 25 maybe more with 180 feet of line out. 10 or 15# depth hunter. The cabelas knockoffs too. That said if you can put a flicker shad that deep with lead its just as good if not better.

Dont need to carry a gun on me, i would most certainly not be the hero, id be running away screaming. Plus I figure when the ish hits the fan I could always just pillage one of the dead corpses for their gun/ammo If i had too.

I wish less people would drink alcohol and more would smoke marijuana. Its about on par with coffee in terms of dangerous drugs. Also, most people totally miss the real drug problem which is RX overdose. More people die annually from prescriptions than all other drugs combined, also RX drugs are not limited to the poor, they are equal opportunity killers, chances are one or more of the people reading this right now abuse RX pills. Alcohol is second when you include acute deaths (poisoning), chronic death (liver failure), and accidents (car/falling off of a boat while handcuffed)
