BUZZBAITER. I am interested where you caught that White Bass in Indian creek.
-
JERRY 30 cast with that thing would destroy my shoulders for a couple days, I am sure if It was 10 yrs ago I would be using it.

I tell you if we get the weather the next few days it might really be good this weekend. Then another coldish spell will hit next week. I think though when they start they may slow downs but there will be no more of this stuff we been going through. Wrenches stomping grounds are a ways up the gravois from me. I am down in the Cedar Point area. my water is a bit clearer than his today. bit when I looked out the window this afternoon there was some real muddy water right up from Gibson's Point so I do not know what it will be like tomorrow.
-
Wrench I will see you tomorrow afternoon if I able to make the run . Tell me what hours the kid is working this week. I want her to get the sale. It looks like the I need a new one.

BILL my father was more of a bait caster than a fisherman . He belonged to that casting club in forrest park in St louis in the 40's and 50's. Also used to cast in the sports show in St louis. He taught me to cast on a local horseshoe pit. foot against one peg and the target was the other peg. He also taught me you do bot cast to a target you cast to the target you cast to a spot inside the target. Casting a casting plug is one thing but when you get out there on the water making long cast with a lure under windy conditions it is really tuff specially with a fast reel. To this day I use reels with no backlash control and so loose there is a slight wobble. And they are lightening fast. Really with 8 lb. test on a long rod under windy conditions I would expect him to have some backlashes. I use 10 on some of my bait-casters. I no longer make long cast at 75 yrs old, but I have been a believer in it for a long time. You stop and think about it you realize the farther you are away the less notice you will be giving the fish. Everything you do in the boat makes a vibration that transfers thought the water. Whoever taught him the art of bait casting did it right. He very clearly understands the whole of balancing a rod and real. -
My Opinion On What I Heard Watching The Weigh In

well better down there than up here at LOZ.. But I am sure they all know already that LOZ is all fished out. I am really surprised after being on here for a short while that many of you have some negative feelings about your hero's. As many of you know I am just know I am more than likely just a simile old man. Think what you want because I could care less. But all this commercialization of the sport of bass fishing has not been good. I do not believe when a field is limited to 55 "Elite" fisherman it proves nothing other than somebody is the best of the 55 in that tournament. I was wondering about who was fishing this tournament and looked at the list. I seen the name VanDam on there twice. Hmmmm. Check out the name of Hibdon sometime if you want. Don't any of you find it strange. Some people put them on a pedestal like great athletic heroes. That they are not. I do not consider fishing athletics. When you talk about a star athlete in a sport like baseball, football or any other true sport those guys truly are great. They competed with the best and with the best of the best to get where they are. Nobody signed them in thru letters or recommendations. To me Pro bass fishing it is mostly smoke and mirrors to sell everything that has to do with fishing at what has become robbery prices. Some fisherman will sacrifice home marriage and everything else in the course of looking cool. I have some of that myself. I know there were times when I was younger that I put what I felt were the fishing needs ahead of the home needs. Fortunately my wife was patient and were going to celebrate our 50th this year. -
I bet some of these pics of scars on various smallmouth came from a miss with a bow rather than a gig. Thats what a lot of them look like to me.

MOGUY------- Do not bet they are the best of the best. Some of them or very nice people I am sure. But the main bussiiness of all this stuff is sell at whatever they can get you to pay. And a awful of fishermen fall for it like white bass on a feeding frenze. -

There is other things about some if those guys that might rub you wrong as well. Some will indorse anything that pops up. A lot of them have their name trade marked. I know of one that his home town had a bill board up along the highway saying that they were his home town. He threatened to sue them if they did not pay for the rights to do that. Lovely is it not. Just remember that when something comes out with some guys name on it he is getting paid. They look like walking adds for any and everything. Some are nice people some are not. some got on that elite stage buy hard work and proving themselves some did not. -

I imagine they complain a lot. I have never been to a tournament like that and wont be going. -
I do not give reports so I do bot meed pictures. I only pit one pn here. I got a doubting Tomas right away. so I am bot going to be putting on here anyway. And if i did they would be laid out on a measuring board. That is the only way to do it if you are into impressing people.

Lot of rain here on the lake. but no tornados. we do get our share of that around here. I see by the Post Dispatch they had a tornado in the suburbs of St Louis in a area called University City.
-
Temperature is now at 50. here at my dock. This string of storms passing through now extends all the way back to Texas. So we will get dumped on a lot more with warm rain rain. but the cold front is coming real fast as well.
-
we got a lot of rain last night and we are under tornado watch right now. I will not go out on the lake on the weekends because of the fools. It is to suppose to turn pretty cool after this passes thru. Down into the 30's at bight and high 50's to around 60. Our trouble here time year is that the warmer temperatures are short periods and it takes forever for the temperature to get up there. I took the temperature 2 hrs ago off my dock at the Gravois 3mm. and it was 47. I really expect it to hit 50 or a little better by the weekend. There could maybe be some fog at the takeoff time so be very very careful if there is.

yeah richy your right. At my age I havecall sorts of mental problems. Like sitting here thinking about going out fishing and there is a real gully washer on the way to us. Hows the spro doing i have not fished mine yet Inam waiting till after the spawn. tsthe application I bought it for anyway. Believe me I lok forward to it. I been experimenting with tweaking it a bit but nothing has come of it just yet.

WELLLLLLL MR BABLER. You would think at your ahe you would know enough to check your line frequently unless you were fishing braid and that stuff hides its damage real well.
-
With your hands it will do more than tire you out. That stuff is for young bucks. Later they will learn to adapt.
-
Danger Close------ I am like you. I go fishing because it please me. I did a few tournaments but I hate the pressure and do not believe in what tournament bass fishing has spawned. Pay attention to what Wrench is saying. Really let it sink in what it means. I have known him for many years. There was few times he was not in the paycheck line. I think the family thing is a really nice thing. It is more like a family reunion. I think that aspect of it might be as important to your son as the fishing. I would not worry a out it he will love you no matter.
-
Hopfully with the big bass bash on LOZ this weekend the spectater boats won't be a problem for these guys.
-
well if she put up with you for 20. I hope you for something real nice for her. Start saving your money now for your 50th. That is a expensive one.I will be crossing that bridge June the 6th.
-
Well Jerry I should have known. I have been to Bismarck a few times would hare to see it overran.
-
somebody shot her with than a in 410 with a load of 9's in it. thats bot even a field load it is a target load. I seen one one time that somebody used a 12 ga on. If you found shot under the skin that is what is sounds like to me.
-
You know what this will do to Bismarck Jerry. Every tom dick and harry from all over the place will be tromping around down there till they ruin everything there is about the place.

when I was sown at BPS yesterday in springfield. they had a large john boat all outfitted for gigging or bow fishing. There was a high raised deck on the front outfitted with high intensity lights and comfortable stools to sit on. All I got to say is if there must be a demand or they would not be selling them. The sport must be becoming pretty popular.
