  1. I seen it on rerun and it was everything I expected. The worst possible view they could create. Rural or Urban none of us have any reason to look down our noses at anyone else.
  2. Looks like the weatherman is backing of in some respects. Hope it continues.
  3. With all the frozen ground etc i bet they are starving. The MDC claims they cannot take our winters because they do not store food. I got to wonder though. those are very adaptable animals. My daughters neighbor shot one in her yard about two weeks ago on the top of a high hill in Herman Mo. I also have a spot a suspect spot in the yard.
  4. with the clarity of Table Rock I would probably go for a jig more than I do. I might also be more careful of color. It is a entirely different fishery.
  5. Stitch. listen closely to this guy. He is a very good all around fisherman and a friend of mine. Also get yourself a cast net and learn to use it those catfish really love the shad. Think big you can put a 6+ inch shad on a hook and hang on.
  6. how much do you use it ??? I think that makes a big difference in the battery selection. I use my boat about every day for a. few hours months on end. I do not like to charge batteries every day or so. with the 24 volt I can go week. not charging them in my normal fishing pattern. I have min Kota 70 lb thrust motor. I run it. on a low power draw most of the time with my 19 ft Targa. I would never go back to a 12 volt system.
  7. young man???????? I wish Jerry.. i will be entering omto my 75th year in a couple weeks.
  8. Jerry I really wanted to get out there this afternoon. but these old bones do not react well to the cold air temperature. Was so flat the sun was beating down on those that rocky north shore. Maybe nothing. But i missed being there.
  9. I do not know the current stage but will look it up. I looks to me like it is about 5 ft low. I do not expect to se much rise for for. several weeks.
  10. I noticed something for finesse fishing at PBS a week or so ago they now sell wacky or sinko worms that are just 3 inches long. I suppose they are suppose to be fro crappie but i think they would do real well on the small jig like they use on the ned rig.
  11. BO the reason i use ribbon tail so much is they seem to do better on very lightly weighted type sink I use so much. Maybe I should try some other style also after they let me down last season. It was very aggravating to watch those bass rise and just snub their noses at it. I just never gave a thought to changing the style of worm. I do use worms like the giant trick worms PBS sells on drop shot rigs and they were doing OK. You would think I would have put 2 and 2 together and tried a change. That was a serious mistake and something I should realized. But I think in hind site I was thinking it would have effected my presentation. You mentioned Flip Tails I loved that worm in it hay day. Last year a old friend I used to. fish with in S/E found a bag of them. in his basement. They were the 91/2 inch one in That color we used to call wine. I know they are between 40-45 yrs old. For the most part the plastic has not changed. Mmmmm. maybe I should offer them up for bidding as antique plastic worms. Still have your Jig its tied on and ready to go if I ever can get out on this thing.
  12. That would be a long drive in a ice storm.
  13. i looked them up they were about $7 for a pack of 10. i have never seen them.i would want to examine it pretty close.
  14. tell me Mitch is it possible to lay several fishing lines down and scan them to reveal the amoit of ultraviolet or infrared they are dosplayimg. ????????
  15. I do not know about the lure but i sure wish we had more bank lines likr that in lower LOZ. The minute i seen the video come on and the color of the water I knew he was right on them for this time of year especially. That is the truth for sure. maybe even a different color. Who knows. But i can tell you by looking at the rip rap I sure would not have tried anything else other than a crank bait. That bait of that type would come thru there and not give you a lot of hang ups. He was able to stand off and not disturb anything.
  16. You got to rest that shoulder Bill. I bet it bothers you at night. Right.?? I was up shooting the bull with Ed Bryant the other day and he has the same problem. The numbness and stuff is like a warning. If it tears there will he no warning. it os a instant thing.
  17. I hope you guys do not try to take all this technical stiff out there on the water. Its not good idea. It cam work against you.
  18. Jerry I had something similar happen to me years ago on clearwater while using flip Tail worms . I had caught a couple bass on a blue one out of at the end of the ramp at Piedmont Park Then they stopped I switched to the red one and caught a couple more. At that time I thought it be some fear smell the other bass left on the worm. Over the years though I have have caught bass on a worm till it fell apart. I still wonder about color since bass do see ultraviolet and infrared. who really knows. If they can see beyond our range they might see thing all together differently. I have always tried to keep in the natural vein in bass plastics. There is one thing though that sometimes turns the trick for me and that is red fleck. Maybe its the element of the infrared in there. who knows. I really believe some of these fancy fishing lines are seen very clearly by fish because of the material makeup. Maybe if Mitch sees this he could be persuaded to test the visibility of lines in the ultraviolet and infrared range. Might not matter much since they can hear a line in the water.
  19. That is how it is Jerry you use them your used to them. A interesting thing have learned over the years is you can have two worms look alike but made by different manufactures and sometimes there differences because of the mix of the formula or something. There used to be some on the market had a distinct smell that reminded me of dirty grease. Those things were awful. Then theres stuff you can add to them that is unbelievable. There are a few people I have run across that swear by Preparation H. I tried this one after I seen a good part of the drug was shark oil. I will say this for it it sure sticks to the plastic. Never seen it make a difference though. Then there is the guy that used to live down from me. He would not a worm or even a crappie tube without squirting some kind of oil on there. i know longer remember the name. but it was something like WD. I never tried that one but I think it was about as effective as the butt grease. The moral of the story is confidence. I do not think there are another bait other than jigs that require more of it.
  20. Mitch. I been looking closely at your presentation. Th e faintly red eyes and the fire like stuff under the bill coming from the wart really puts me in the mind of my wife when I wanted to go off fishing and leave her at home with young children to often.
  21. what kind of alcohol ?? malted , a product of the vine type, or a product of corn.
  22. DTRS most of mine is not stitching. They are wighted very lightly and the big bass are rising looking for something. The worm just dead drops slowly with twitches now and then. Really I guess the word that best describes it interception. I would certainly NOT recommend it for tournament fishing. 99% of those bites come outside of the tournament hours. Your best fishing with this comes close to dawn and a sunset when bass are on a really aggressive feed. But I have done some stitching. It will work sometimes but other times I think they get to much time to look it over before they decide to nail it. this thing i do can have some real fine years then it can have some that are awful. Like anything else things change from year to year but after over 60+ years of favoring plastic worms I have learned a few things. but the above way has caught a lot of bass 5 lbs and up over the years.
  23. they might want to hit on you for a launch fee. I would drive down there and check with the people. some of those places charge you to put it in and to take it out. They really. work that racket on LOZ.
  24. Yes for what I do. I hunt deep ledges breaks and other stuff where I think I can find Lunkers. Then I go out there when they are active stand back off in my boat and cast out over the ledge. The object is to catch them rising to feed. This is not for everyone. It is usually a short period of only a hour or so and you can get skunked at it pretty easy. If I am going to fish longer I might go to a jig. But rarely am I on the lake more than 3-4 hours.
  25. that is a problem about the bait being dry. but i do a lot of mess ing with that stuff right off my dock where i can watch the reaction easy. I have found out that I can take,y finger and put it in a doubled over handkerchief and dry it enough where it will stick real well.
