Bfishin----- are you a exhibitor or a buyer. We used to exhibit at that at fairs in the St louis area. Our name was Ozarkian Creations/ Birdtown USA . We stopped a couple of years after we moved here. I have birdhouses from California to Germany that I know of I still make a few for locale people and Charity Auctions.

Crappie To Be Had, But Need To Work For Them.
Old plug replied to WHARFRAT's topic in Lake of the Ozarks
Seems things are better up the the Niangua Arm. White bass have been tough in the Gravois as far as size goes. I can catch 10 to 20 any evening in less than a hour most evenings on a slab spoon if i try at all but most are about 6" long. Crappie are spotty right now around my place. The other day i went back in cedar creek about 2/3 the way to where it narrows the lake was just covered with shad from from a short ways off the docks. I used a rapala flat shad and caught small Kentucky bass till i was sick of it. On about the 10 cast into the fishing I hit a dock corner and broke the lip off but the little lures is just as good a top water without it. It has a flash that really looks natural. I fished from 2pm to 5:30 pm catching fish the whole time. Only caught one keeper Large mouth and 3 Kentucky bass a foot or better. I went back yesterday for a short period with a suspending Rogue hoping to scare up something larger but still caught small Kentucky bass. They are really making their present felt in the middle area if the Gravois. Last spring I caught a lot of them in what used to be a good LMB spawning area most if those ran 14 and 15 inches long. That's OK but it is not the suze i am accustom to in that cove. On a more positive note i have seen a rapid decline in the number of zebra mussels on rocks snag on spoons. -
One point the director of fema was a a horseman and politicalappointment with no ecperience. The general went down there and got thing going. Was a bunch of people making mistakes. It is typical of what you can expect overall around this country. The media is a mess.

I have a real suspicion what we just went through was the start of the nut jobs trying to take over. And they blew it big time.

Well you can all unpack now. I do not believe you really had a worry. Had it come midnight i think the president would have invoked his powers under the constitution and raised the debt ceiling himself. I am sure the tea party would have tried to Impeach him then. Bunch of darn fools they are.

The big pools at the entrance to Shaw' Garden were full of crawfish when I was a kid. We used to catch them on bacon to fish in in the lake in the back of the garden. At that time there was nothing back there and the lake was a good place to fish. Gosh does that bring back memories!!!. I have been throw out if there so many time for fishing they finally suspended me. Or thought they did anyway. A few years ago I drove around in back and they still have the same old chain link fence and the hole we made through it to get into the lake was still there.

I posted something but evidently it never made it. Anyway i have had lot of luck with the larger crappie fishing using small flukes about as long as a index finger or smaller on jigs and road runners. -

That is the way to catch big crappie. The two largest crappie i ever caught in this lake i caught on consecutive cast using a rogue. Early in te spawn it happens that big females will rise over points. I have caught lot of 12 - 13 inch inch crappie like that. The two biggest I csught here were both 18" one was a white and one was a black. I have picture. But they are on my computer and i cannot figure out how to get them onto this Ipad to post. There used to be a picture in Laurie at Ozark outfitters but I do not think it is there anymore. But wrench has seen the pics. -
AL you express yourself in writing as well as in your painting. Ever thought of combining the two into some outdoor magazine. In spite of the way I communicate today there was a tie when I wrote a lot of government gobbly goot . Thats why it is do hard to understand what the hell they are talking about in those letters etc.

My father was not much of a fisherman. But he belonged to a casting club. He really showed me a lot about rod reel and lure matchup. He could do some awful unbelievable trick cast. I learned a lot from him. This was a good 60 yrs ago when there were no free spool reels and all the stuff now. I used to go with him to the horseshoe pit in the locale park to practice cast. We would put our foot against one peg and try to hit the other peg with the casting plug. He could do it a hell of a lot of the time. He educated my thumb and yet today I my reels are loose and very fast. well at least they were. But arthritis and age has forced me to start tightening things up. Quillback noted above it had to be the rod caused that I agree 100%. It looks exactly like someone tried to cast a lighter or bulky lure a good distance with a stiffer rod or in some kind of wind. The force generated by that rod to make a cast was just to much.

Mo smallies.... The fisherman on LOZ are somewhat more tight lipped. I do not mind telling people what I have been catching or generally where. But i do not git really specific. I have a large crappie bed and it draws fisherman to my dock like flies. Fortunately they are not that successful most of the time. They tend to spook the crappie or they are fishing it at the wrong time. The reason so many come by I think is I mentioned it to a friend in a locale tackle store. I think he turned it into advice to customers. The amount of pressure here I think is what keeps us a bit more quiet. As far as wrench goes. As far as his reports you better pay attention. He is extremely dedicated to fishing. Has been a fishing bum all his life. I can call him that because I am one myself. Ive known him for about 25 yrs.

Do not use spinners very much but when I do it is almost always a baby brush hog -
I understand that and really i bet. The color does not matter that much. I have a couple small coves inside mine here where it was so shallow and clear you could see can see docks shadow on the bottom that will hold some nice fish. I am sure you know those places. But I back off kind of far and cast to them. Have not done that in a few years. Shoulders bother me a lot out there and the casting shows it. Just never used dark colors.
-
You pitchen dark colors inthe fall Wtench!!!!??? I rarely pich anything but a light color in the fall because of the allthe shad feeding going I really lan towards gray bucktails.

I am amzaed at the number of people that will bet the cost of fishing in this tournament. There must be a awful lot of peole running around with a lot of money to blow. Even knowing some specific location of lunker bass is still a big big gamble. But i am sure people will stumble onto them.

Zebra Muscles - Bull Shoals, Taneycomo And Table Rock

I amsure tgey are on trumanand every other major lake in the state. They died out on time on LOZ but have returned -
I have been through a government dung down on the other side of it. I do not believe they will be shutting down any thing that is public unless there is a direct liability to the government. You see some people who are upset about the whole thing would go in there and injure themselves on purpose then sue the government.

Having Trouble With Troller Fishermen
Old plug replied to Old plug's topic in General Angling Discussion
That is what i say wrench. I have trolled my share but it is too expensive for me. I was out there tonight with two guys trolling we had no problems they would pass and i would tell the spot i just seen a schools rising. They would pass and i would make my cast straight up and down where the trolling line not over until they were clear There is nothing lazy about what J Doc is calling yo yo. It is just anotherf method and i have never heard of it being illegal anywhere. Around here we call it jigging. And believe it or nit it take know how. Lot of way to work a spoon.
