Garden books with a view towards what we will do next year around here. Also Hosta and Heuchera (coral bells) publications to see what new. I have at least one seminar to host next year about these two plants.

Thats quite a announcement from someone that uses a glass of liquor as a represent himself.

I think it is a difference is available forage. Plus maybe something in the habitat. That happens on LOZ at times with shad and conditions. Up where Wrench hangs out they are rarely without a lots of shad. I have seen it happen down here( about 4 mikes away) that while he has many we do not. The results are the bass down here do not have the heavy body if those up there. You would think that they would just run up there. Maybe some do but most will stay here.

Berkley® Fireline® Fishing Line
Old plug replied to mic's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
I use it for crappie fishing. Be careful with it though it can cut your fingers to the bone by grabbing it and trying to pull a lure off of a snag -
I think the real point here should be how little people are aware of who was president and who did what. Ignorance is bliss. Polls are biased. But i am encouraged by this pole from Louisiana. Only 29% blamed Obama. I also noted Obama was a Yankee senator not just a senator or a senator from Illinois. Bias is everywhere in everything. .

Well ith the heat boat traffic and what else you will have this weekend i would say take your worm up to party cove and wee if you can can catch something. And if that dont work go to COCOs on the gravois and try the same thing.

I posted a picture of the one i have with my boat on the subject show me your boats yesterday. This one folds down and can be swiveled degrees 360. I have had it 13 or 14 yres and cannot remember the name of the company thst makes them but i am sure if you research it onthe internet by something like " trolling motor hand controls you will find it.they are not to cheap as i recall. I FOUND IT the name us PROKONTROL. I have the super model pictured on the boat on the "show your boat " thread. I really real like it will never go bactk to a foot control after owning it.

Looking To Buy A New Deep V Aluminum Boat - Opinions Needed
Old plug replied to J-Doc's topic in General Angling Discussion
That name Genmar rings a bell. That might be what i seen on the sign. Trouble with that is the companies usually do not operate independently. In the end you have one boat with many names. Materials and construction are about the same. -

What i want to know does anyone have any info about these brands being merged under one company. I seen a sign on the building that used to be the G3 building on hwy 44 in Lebanon. There were several a few popular names on there under one company. I will go along with Warfrat about the mobility in fishing of a deep V. But if its safety first you need one. just last evening i had a bad experience on LOZ that made me thankful i had a deep V. I was coming hame and i seen a cruiser about 35 ft coming down the lake making the largest wake he could make. They do that so that friends and others can follow along and jump the wake. The wake he was throwing was at least 5 ft high. Small boats are swamped every weekend by wakes like that. I was able to rude it out without any water coming in the boat. Had i been in anything else including a bass boat i would most certainly shipped a lot if water. Another thing bad about large wakes you do not always see them until its too late. Some years back i had several family members visiting here at the time I had a 24 ft pontoon. We had 8 people on there and was heading down into the main channel around the 6 mm. My son was diving and we suddenly came into one of those giant wakes that you do not see. We made the top of the first one and the pontoons front dropped and we dove right into the second wake. The pontoons back lifted so high the motor came out of the water. Water hit the front door door tore it off and rushed in about 2 ft high. Lucky for us she just sort of backed up and settled down on the water and all was ok. So if your going to want to deal with the likes of LOZ be prepared boat wise whatever you buy. Myself I have about reached my limit with it. We are looking now at places in Hermann Mo area. I might be out if here in another year. -

No i do not think there is much difference in big deep V boats ability to handle rough water. But here on LOZ it really gets violent out there on weekends. The boat in the picture was so wide Up front i cannot imagine it having the water cutting ability we need here.? I may be wrong. I have never seen one like that. But it is 94 inches wide and the bow looks pretty blunt to me. I just do not think it is a true deep v. -

That boat better have a deeper v than it appears it does in that picture. LOZ would tear that boat to pieces. I cannot imagine speeding around LOZ in it. Last tournament I fished in ,the boater had a 21 ft bass boat with a 250 merc on it. We had to fish mid lake and weighed in at Public beach #2 on a saturday afternoon. Let me tell you it was a cruel ride. -
Well hell I done it tonight First photo is of the clete. Note the center hole.i made j bolt that bolts the board down on these two rear cleats. Second photo is of the rownrigger stand bolted to the clete. . The black thing is a base that comes with my down rigger to make it easier to take it off and on. Third photo is if the down rigger installed and raised and secured with a strap. Last photo would be how it would be if it was out trolling.

I will try to get it doen and get a pcture of it tomorrow

I made a wooden mount for the rear on my boat that attaches over the cleats. It works fine.

I would not want to use a fly rod in a deep v toooo much to get line hung up on. Before i stopped with a fly rod all together i tried one in my boat. It was no fun i assure you. We drove by the factor in Lebanon on 44 a couple weeks ago and i may be wrong but some conglomerate owns Lund and several more boat makers now. The plant was where the old G3 was. Maybe they own the works i do not know. -

I got a 18 ft tracker targa. It is 11 years old it can take anything LOZ can throw at it. It has a 115 merc 4 stroke that wrench is very envious of. I do not like the new Targa's. They are almost more fish and ski than fishing. The front casting deck is really to tiny to be practical. Only problem I have had with the boat itself is there is a filler hose under the floor leaking that fills both the front live well and the bait well as well. The motor I have had only a problem with fuel jets. The 115 merc on mine us in fact a Yama. They put filters in the tiny jets and they clog up very very fast. Dealer puched them out and there has been no more problems. -
Well i can understand your reasons for wanting to get ahold of your health. What made you think you were going to die at 61. Not a male in my father side of the family seen 50 yrs of age. Had a cousin died at 19 of heart disease. Most of them were tall and thin. My father was 6 ft and never weighted 150 lbs in his life. There is a lot more to this health thing than not eating meat. I think there needs to be a balance. And that includes your life style as well. Then there is the thing hereditary. It does not care what you do It is going to do its thing if it can. Only reason I survived to the age I am is pure luck and modern science.

Not fancy but 181/2ft of safe functional boat. Has a 50" split livewell in back. A 28 gal livewell in front and two bait wells. They have not built targas like this in a long time. Nowdays they are more like fish and ski boats rather thana fishing boat. The front decks are a lot smaller. This has 115 merc 4 stroke. A 57 lb 24 volt hand controlled trolling motor. I have a setup for dual down riggers but its not currently on the boat. Its 11 yrs old and can take about anything LOZ can dish out. Good boat for old guy like me.

Well I am going to hit it about 5or 6 pm and i will be going to 20 ft or better on break and ledges with a heavy drop shot rig with maybe a 7" worm on it. I think the heat will drive them own there.

I do not jug. Have not in years. I do not think jugs should be left un attended either. And your not suppose to in Missouri. If you leave jugs unattended in Missouri your creating a navigation hazard. I have only seen one boater deliberately try to destroy jugs. He was in a million dollar cigarette boat. It looked like he was playing some target shooting game to impress the girls in the boat. Big money and thinking he was high privilege no doubt. Every morning early this past week I have had jug fishermen out in the cove here at the house. They are off the water by 9or 9:30.

We Have Huge Issues - Smallmouth Poaching
Old plug replied to MOsmallies's topic in General Angling Discussion
There are things people do. It gets to be like a right of passage i think. Thank god the creek and river there no longer have to worry about my wife's grandfather and some of his friends. If fishing was slow they had been know to use dynamite. That was way back in the 1920's and 30's -
They should call themselves Mega bucks. yeah chief you got it right. I remember when the big O was suppose to be a miracle as well. This thing is the same kind if mania.

This story took place over a two day period some years ago. I have been accused of making it up but it actually did happen. As wild as it is. It all started when I told a friend that I had been catching a lot of bass on points in the evening on top waters. The next day he called and said he wanted to go try it and would like to bring his preacher with him because he dud not get to fish all that much. I told him all your going to need is a rod and some kind if top top water like a tiny torpedo. I told him for them to be here about 4 pm the next afternoon. I mentioned that we would only have a productive window of about 3 hrs at the most. WELL next evening comes along and here comes my friend and the preacher. They had a fist full of rods, tackle boxes, rain gear, and what have you like they were headed out to go camping. At that time I owned a small17 ft fish and ski and storage space was a premium. So off we go. Were out there about 15 minutes and the preacher gets a strike. He ripped back so hard on that rod that little torpedo comes flying back like a bullet and sticks one of the hooks on the back treble in my friends arm. I pushed it through and snipped it off and they said they wanted to go on. We fished for about another half hour and the preacher had a hard strike that really excited him and he ripped back again on that rod and sure enough that little torpedo turned into a bullet and stuck that rear hook in his own arm. I got out my pliers pushed it thru and clipped it off. And yet they still wanted to continue along with what was left of the tiny torpedo. We fished a few more points and caught several small fish and the evening was turning out pretty nice. I pulled into this sheer rocky buff next. The preacher made a cast and and his lure broke off . Since I am deaf he wanted to be sure he got my attention. He was standing back on the corner of the boat waving his arms and pointing saying " my plug my plug ". I told him to hold on that I would back the boat down and we would retrieve it. Well I fired up my 140,tripped on all the gear laying on the floor fell on the throttle slaming it into forward sending the preacher arching into a very deep bluff hole. I start looking down in some very clear water for the preacher and all I could see was rising bubbles. Some were rsther large bubbles like someone struggling. I got really scared and said to to my friend "can he swim". He shrugged his shoulder and said in a a kind of matter of fact way " I dunno know". Thank god about that time the preacher appears rising from the depths holding his hat on his head with one hand and his shoes in the other. Kicking his way to the surface. What evening huh.??. Well the story is not finished. My neighbor at that time was a old WWII vet over 80 years old. He did not get out on the lake much anymore but I knew from past conversations he was fond of fishing with a Devil Horse topwater. For any of you wipper snappers who might not know what the Devil Horse is, it was a twin spin top water with 3 very small treble hooks on it. The next evening we headed down the lake making our first stop at a large point at the mouth if the Gravois Arm called Inspiration Point. It is called that because there is a large outdoor church located on it. Ham was sitting down in the the passenger seat behind the windshield tying on his Devil Horse and he dropped it into his crotch. I could see two of those tiny trebles just barely hooked into his pants. I said " ham don't dare move or you might catch more than a fish. So he is siting there legs spread and I get down there on my knees with my pointy nose pliers and work the plug loose. As soon as I got it loose I stood up and there was about 20 people up in that church staring at us. I did not even try to explain. We just left there real fast like. I don't think I ever fished there again before I got my new boat.
