  1. Wrench I giess ih the last couple outinging I have caught at least 30 smalll bass about 13" and have yet to catch a Kentucky bas in the mid Gravois. They were mostly 6-8 ft around here. Are a bit deeper Thought that was a bit unusual.
  2. Only Thing about lakes is the situation can change in mimutes. Take following the shade in the evening. All shade is not the best shade. Here close to the house I know that a soft evening sun will beat a full shade most of the summer. So I try hard to be in those place where the shade is just starting to take effect. I feel it puts me in the spot at the right time. It seem to trigger a major feeding time around here. If your in the right place.
  3. Weekend Warrior -----I was catching plenty of nice males crappie last week. In the evening just before pink up time till sun down. Last 2 days they been showing up later and later till almost dark. I bet the blacks re going to do a lot of spawing at nite shortly in my area.
  4. When I said bedding I was thinking more of the actual spawn. I was out today and caught two keepers that were 2 lb males in shade of docks in water so shallow you could clearly make out bottom details. Sometimes there is a length of time between that coming in and the spwn. Neither of these male had a messed up tail from fanning gravel. maybe the wait just making them horney.
  5. WOW I still cant believe it
  6. I will second that. I just had a ball this evening with 10 inch males. Only 1 female and she was 13. When the mamas come in it is not hard at all. Live boxes have not had anything in them in year. Though I do have a live bo ,I do not keep more than a dozen at the most anymore over the whole season. I like them cleaned and fried within hours. So all Take are a for lunch now and then. That practice has taught me what fressness is. Do not go for them after they been frozen .
  7. I do not have too and do not support tournaments. Those that do die later from the strss of rodong around and beong handled.
  8. I cannot remember the last time I put a fish in a live well. If I want to I will take a picture of the fish.
  9. they are not bedding that is from last year. Funny thing about LOZ onece they start they will be bedding at differnt time till al ost June.
  10. CHIEF I have sort of disagree with you about this. As I read the post it meant fisherman. It would be nice if fishermen always understod conservation but I have seen and personally know some that who pay no attention to conservation. About all of them are crappie fisherman. But they are still expert fishermen at what they do I can be assured of it. Most really truly expert fishermen ( not just somebody with a lot of fishing savy.) I know got started fishing at a early age and fishing was a driving compulsion at the center of their life. And by that I mean they would eat it sleep it and live fishing every moment they could. You can tell a expert by the way he can tell where the fsh are and how they will react 99% of the time just by the feel of the enviorment that surrounds him. I am not including myself in that group by any means. Bit have have fished with a few like that.
  11. MAJICWORMMAN...i just made a general sttement. I have live here for many years and been fishing fishing it even longer. On here they all rave about Table Rock I am just trying to be supportive of them. I greatly support them having a lot of fisherman.
  12. There is a old saying about fisherman. It says a true fisherman go through phases in life. The first one is he he discovers fish and fishing in that phase all he wants to do is carch fish. Very soon he only wants to catch big fish. Then later on he only wants to catch certain fish. At 77 I have entered the last phase. I just want to fish. I do not care what I catch most of the time are how many or big. I just like being out on the water fishing how I want ,when I want , and with what I want. I can probably put all the diferent types of lures I use in my front pockets. I find more joy in fishing outside the box than all the other stuff. as a example I intend to go out in a couple hours abd fish drop shot over flats and wacky worms n channel banks. I know both will work.???
  13. Well thats the place to go down there. Want everyone to know LOZ is poor bass fishing.
  14. They d not get most of them but they sure kill a lot of them.
  15. heah you can unless it is obstrusted unerway in any way. Mostly it is the trolloing moter that will block its forward light and is the reason for the post in the front
  16. It a mps drives ne nuts to have another in the boat with me. They talk move around trying to get my attention and like seceral ha e don staamp on the bottom of the boat.I always do better by myself. In LOZ it is about useless to realy fish docks the way you should with two people in the boat. I see them trying to do it all the tome. But to me it would get very distracting. when I am on my game It is almost like my mind is locked in. I know part of that is because I do not hear. But knowing some I am suree not alone.
  17. Ahhhhhh Mannn ro that warrior. I kmow i wll get all th crappie my jeart disires without having to burn a ounce of gas. I have not been pit since very eaely October. Think I got the shoilder about well enought to allow me a few hoirs at least at first opertunity.
  18. It has for me. I only run a 115 on mine. But i know mone was rated for a 150. I think the new 18 ft boat will take 200. Not sure.

I woild not buy it again because of the way the front deck is configured. I like more room than what they have now. Other than that I like a look of the sturdyness of the new ones and the layout out of the storage.

      thanks. decisions decisions.

  19. AL I got 20 lb braod on a medoum action 7 ft spinning rod and ise it solely fr skipping in back of docks abd love it. It really sails along well. only thing about ir is that it can ve a problem in high wind and if you hwppen to power your cast to hard witth certain lures like sinkos it will become ar born with a mbd of its own.
  20. I got one over ten years old wgat os tou want to know.

I will  list my pros and cons.

HULlL  This one of mine has been running around in he gravois and lower lake for over ten years and the water does get rough down here. I do not think there is anything safer than a big V bottom in the rough water.

CON If you buy one PBS will put the batteries in trays. get rid of them and put. all betteries in BOXES. If the boat s used and has trays beware.  I have a 24 volt trolling system and had two batteries in a hold in the front of the boat  . Small spills out of those batteries will go unnoticed. And they will drain out into the hull through a weep hole in the box. when that happens they will eat into the bottom of the hull and all of a sudden you lwilo have a boat that leaks like  like hell. You will not be able to see it doing that either from the outside since it takes pressure of the boat runing to make the small cracks open. This problem can be avoided by sealing the battery box woth aircraft battery box sealer and puttting the batteries in boxes. In my case I had to many cracks cuased by years of this problem developing and they welded sheets 90 ga of alum over the bottom. So now I have a lot of bottom is 100 and 90 ga thick. Cost was over $4,000.

ACC. I Would rate the wiring instruments etc as average from my prespective. That is with the boat used used a few hours almost daily from March thru October. All the years I have had it. it has been kept in a dock on a lift when not in use.

Carpets and things are good for maybe 8 to 10 years. Instruments might last half that.

If your looking at the new ones they have moved the console forward since I got mine causing the casting deck to be way to small to suit me.

Overall it is a pretty rugged boat but you can expect to have problems.

If your going to put a 4 stoke motor on there be prepaired to burn E91 oct fuel in it. E87 can foul up the small fuel jets in a 4 stoke motor. The problem is the ethenol in the fuel lines will seperate and and from a hard residue in the bottom of the fuel line if the boat sets for periods without use. This stuff will in time clog the lines, break off in tiny pieces and foul you fuel system on the motor. It will cost you about a cool $1,000  have that fixed or more.

Overall I really like the boat. It is pretty rugged and safe.  i have no idea what the new ones are like though.

wow, loads of info. thank you.  yes looking at a new one. really want a warranty.

it's little things like this i am looking for.  never would have thought of battery leakage.

i appreciate you time and valuable info.

  21. Well i use braid for two applicarion I crapoe fosh woth 10lb braid and sjip plastics woth 20lb braid both are pro braod brand. I flat refise to use a leader. To me it is foolishness fr most fresh water fish? They care abought whats at the ebd of your lone and not the line.
  22. I just got wonder how many of you are going to destroy something in your casting arm or shoulder using that thing.
  23. I think they might be temperaute orientated doing that. I never cared much for the spider rig type thing. Some years ago there was a netional crappie tourament here. I had just in a big pile of brush between two dock om my poinr and was fishing there the next day to feel how it had settled on the bottom. This pro come in a bright red boat all covered with decals wearing bright red jump suit to match. He had 6 eods famned out in front of him. He started a turn in between the docks I just brushed. I told him I would not advise you doing that becaise I just layed a big pile of brush in there yeasterday and its very snaggy. He gave me a look of contempt and never said a word. About 15 more foot and all 6,rods got hung hung up. Right then and there my mind was made up about those spider rigs
  24. Ketchup believe me when he was younger he would find time no matter what the cost. There was a time when nothing and i mean hothing wouldI keep him from fishing. I remember a post he made on here saying " if you want to get really good at this bass fishing you will have to eat, sleep, and live it 24. hrs a day" That is a pretty good discription right there of him. Now that he is older he does not place it a the absolute too ofchis priorities . He also has a hell of a fine family now that really means a lot to him. Not to mention that he is hot getting any younger. I wish I could have done that. But I was stick in St Louis area earning a living. Im just grateful that I qhave had the last 25 yrs here on the lake to act like that at least when myvother yalf does not putvher foot down.
