  1. If I ever was forced to shoot one I would just walk off and leave it there just to avoid the flack.
  2. I understand conservation and I understand there are animals out there that conflict with me. What I object to is MDC making all these statements about some invasive animal being protected by the wildlife code and calling it OK. When I hear of someone shooting one of these cats it appears the shooter has to justify his act or pay a fine and maybe go to jail I remember when the Armadillos started to show into our area. There were published statements telling people they would not survive our winters and would not be a problem. The cats were are no problem either since they were just young males passing through. Now they have found a female. When MDC makes these pronouncements in the same breath we are usually reminded like all other wildlife in the state they are covered and protected under the the holy staturate of the wildlife code.
  3. That will be part of the law. That is the pat that concerns me. It will be mandatory annual or by annual inspections that the dock owner would be required to pay for. Not to mention that the local fire departments will be doing it. I have my doubts about that part. I reworded mine to the standards of the power company.
  4. Yeah wrench I can remember you being negative about the change. You used to say the foam Let in to much light. i understand Newportdney just that I could not pocture him writing something like that this day in age. As a dock owner I hated that stuff.
  5. I am shutting down for the year. The past 3 yrs are so have been a steady decline in my area of the Gravois. Of course I have cut a lot of hours off my fishing as well. The really big cats have gotten fewer and fewer. The Bass have not been what they were are years ago either. Crappie still are hanging on but white bass terrible down here. I think boat traffic has something to do with it. According to the news. Our state reps and senators are finally getting involved in the boat crap. They are upset about boats and the water patrol merger both. For those of you who come down here regularly. I am betting there is going to be some kind of state law coming about electrical wiring on docks. You still see all sorts of lousy wiring all over the place. The other day I was fishing by a dock that someone's idea of grounding was to attach a grounding wire to the corner of the dock and stick it down in the water.
  6. White flan huh. You'll spend most of your day looking for docks with white foam. I have not seen one here on the Gravois for a few years now.
  7. Let's see just in my neighborhood we got Lama, Alpaca,Goats of all sizes. Donkey, Buro,a couple Camels. I have not seen any of these yet walking in the woods but it is just a matter of time. The place is called Bott Farm. It is up the road from me. Folks bring there kids down to fed them when they are in the area, Wrench maybe some of the critter no longer live in th woods. You know where that place is in Laurie on 5 has the high red facing roof on it ? it was the post office at one time,. Well it is now allegedly abandon. But if you drive on the lower part of the lot you will notice there are no doors in the basement. I have seen coons and ferrel cats going and coming through those doors. Wonder what that place is like inside.
  8. do you still want me to pick up the sinko worms?. I got a addy from Wrench  that was 981 kinchlow Dr Sunrise Beach mo.

I googled it and they only found 982. I noted there was a condo close by is that the place? I have a barrel of work around here the next few days but I can come by in the evening. Friday or Saturday. I know wrench might try to find you out on the water Saturday.

If you rather I not come over just give the sinks' to Glenn. Otherwise give me some specific about the house or the apartment.

Hey I forgot to mention but if your looking fo something good to eat go up to that Woods Supernarket right there at hwy 5 and F. They got good carry out food.  The fried chicken is die for.

  9. mjK------There are a lot of people on here are not MOST FOLKS, Listen to Jerry. You all keep talking and your going to Internet some of these OTHER FOLKS. You would not like the results.
  10. wrench i remember clearly when all those kept cats got out of e containment area up on hwy P. That was a bit of excitement for a few days. Was lions and tigers both if I recall.
  11. They are here. But I do not buy all the tall tails I here about them. I know they have confirmed at least one up on hwy 135 out of Laurie in the Ivey Bend area of LOZ. Also for you city boys there was one confirmed in Wildwood a couple years ago. My son was building a swimming pool there. The conservation agents were all over the place. They talked to him several times. At one time we were told they were all young males. Recently I seen something saying they have confirmed a female somewhere in the state. I never believed we would not wind up with a native population around here. As far as seeing Jaguars B S is my view of that. Those things are the third largest cat in the world rivaling a lioness for size. They would be munching on people by now.

    Safe to say

Mitch----- I have heard that the area you live in is about ran over with deer. Same here. I am sort of at war with them. I own close to 100 Hosta plants. There was a nice buck trying to corner a doe here in the yard last week. They totally disregarded me. I spoiled their fun by pumping a couple of loads of 410 number 9's into thre rumps. It will not penetrate there hide but it sure makes a big sting. Lots of critter problems around here. Watch the deer on your roads. Wife has hit 3 all of who did a lot more damage to the car than themselves.
  13. i do not pay much attention to color. Like everyone else I have my favorites. I tend to more or less hang into colors I think look natural like Browns green and combinations of those. but whatever color you pick it is because you like it to begin with and that has a lot to do with how well you will fish it.
  14. That sound about right to me I tend to catch most if my fish on the bottom on jigs from low 60's into the 50's but that is just my way I think than it being the only way.
  15. Champ ----- l seen a Blue Heron swallow a bass as big or a little larger as the one in the pictures. As I recall Wrench was on a service call on the dock next to mine and he seen it to. Do you remember that wrench.
  16. I like to watch the weather on my radar. This big blow is shaped about like a hurricane, I have never seen anything like that before. It about covered 4 states. The wind north of Columbia was 74 mph for awhile this evening. Most of it though was between 45 and 55 mph.
  17. The water clarity has something to do with it for sure Wrench. It is clear around my place to 51/2 and 6 ft 31/2 miles up the Gravois. I had a bit of luck last week fishing a sinko right on the steeper chunk bank. It was a interesting experience in that I caught a keeper every time I fished where there were a lot of green sunfish. The second that sinko hit the water they would charge it and and knock it all over the place. Then a good bass would would come out of know where and hit the sinko. It was not a regular thing but I did not catch a good keeper unless the little pest were after the sinko. I only fished about 2-3 hours a day over 2-3 afternoons. Averaged about 1 keeper a hour and had a whole lot of fun with the sunfish. I believe that the thing that triggered the bass was the green sunfish bashing the sinko and his greed. They sure were not hitting it with any regularity otherwise. You can literally catch a bushel of small Kentuckian and largemouth this time of year on that sinko. It's one of the things I love doing with a ultra light crappie out fit.
  18. I am interested in these sinko's your making. If you got some that are were messed up in your coloring let me know how many you have and how much you want for them. Color does not mean a thing to me with sinko lures. They are very good down here right now in the last hour or so of daylight on shaded channel bank docks. I did not catch any keepers today but had a ball with shorts and. Dinky ones. No  idea of he count how  many but it was fast and action for over a hour.

I sent Glen a E-mail. He is not sure what he is going to be doing next weekend so I will come by and pick them up Friday evening. Along about 7pm if that's OK. I will just drop in and say hello and get out of your way. I am not very good in conversations.

I hope the pattern hold with the sinko worms and you get to use them. It is one of the most fun things I do out there. The pattern will just shut down all of a sudden.

  19. Fish 24-7 I want to add something that I have found relieve a lot of pressure on me. I. Have 2 light and medium action 7 ft spinning rods filled with 10lb test braid, I can fish a lot of pitching and flipping baits on a seat from my casting deck. I have also used them. Shoot docks for crappie as well as plastic baits like sinko. The braid is tiny as thread. Yet strong enough to handle even big fish.
  20. Fish 24-7 A whole bunch of these youngeters will be joining us. I bet some already have had trouble with tennis elbowing that and that kind of kink you get in e shoulder after casting. I am a lefty with both knees replaced and the left knee replacement failing. I use the shoulder brace on the left shoulder. It cannot be repaired dues to a collar bone reset from a biking accident when I was in my 30's.The more weight you take off the better you will function. I am able to wear those nylon supports you can find in Wallmart on the failed knee and get along pretty good. Shoulder brace is a God send for me.
  21. Things like age and arthritis are going to slow you down in spite of anything you can do. Only thing that lets fish 2-4 hrs in the afternoons or evenings is a strong shoulder brace.
  22. Sounds like a kids prank to me.
  23. You will sure catch more fish fishing alone and slow. I do not do it for the most part because my neighbor and I are both at the age where I do not think we could swim to the bank anymore. It is kind of a safety measure. But he is somewhat of a world traveler and when he is gone that's the way I do it. I am like wrench in that I like to use a lot of sneaking up and that is about impossible with 2 people in the boat. You would have to just about disregard the other fisherman and be rude.
  24. Yeah Ham you think your Azz is infallible. People. Destroy bass in a multitude of ways. They would over populate if none at all were taken. It the larger bass 4 lbs and up that seem to be getting rarer.
  25. One of the big things is pressure. I can see real easy how all this monkey shines on the weekend on the streams is not good for anything. like I have said in on here,I returned to Onadaga on the upper Meramec after a absence of about 35 yrs and it made me sick to my stomach just to look at what has taken place there. Looks like a fricking circus has come to town.
