Its is called chumming. I cannot say it is wrong. There are many other things used to in attracting fish besides this. They could all fall into that category.

I a, mostly a jog and worm fisherman. Anything you can do with them I have maybe been there and done that. Sure takes a lot less room than all these crank baits. that not to say i do not have a awful lot of weights hooks and worms. I guess there is in the excess of 300- 500 worms and plastic for jig bosies right now in my locker.

you got a pile of stuff there fins. I think down there in those crystal clear lakes things are different in a way than up here. The point I was trying make was about understanding the lure you use more then just buying more. I think I was thinking in terms of things like Plastic worms and jigs. Phil the worse thing about Ice to me is the breakup. Those big chunks acn do to awful dock damage. It appears your are pretty small. around here some can be as big a football field. If they are 3-4 inches thick bothing stops them.

you got it wright I believe Al. the all around top lure is a buzz bait on ponds for me. Anything that weights anything id going to wind up in the weeds and moss.there are exceptions to this strip pits like they have in central IL. Use the worm with no more weight than is on than that of the hook. Learn to work it very slowly. Thee rod and reel do not that much. whatever your comfortable with. you do not need any heavy gear 10 or 12 lb test will be fine. There os something more important than you. tackle around ponds. you. ned to approach them with stealth. and if you think there is a bas somewhere close to the bank. stay back about 10 ft and make your cast. believe it not they can detect you walking around up there. al i wonder if you ever fished in any of those small lakes up by Leasburg. there was up there was about 30 acres. That os exactly what I was thinking. you can wear them down slowly amd have a million thrills doing it I a, glad you mentioned 4 and6 test. I jist did not want to sound far fetched but that would be the test I would prsfer.

what I would like to do sometime is try a stunt. I have landed some pretty good fish on light tackle. both here and in the salt. I would love sometime to take on those big stripers on 8lb mono.

Have never seen that one. Generally speaking zoom makes good plastic worms. I got a big bag of power works but do not think much of the durability. C-max is better yet.

Define the type of worming your going to do. One 6 to 61/2 ft bait casting rod and reel should cover all of it. I do not think spinning would fit the bill except in very light applications.

I have not had a dillo ip here for sire yet. we are not as over run with them as you are. I got a 410 pump that I use slugs in for them. If they start they are pretty easy to shoot under yard light.

Thing about little girls ( and boys) you cannot tell anything about them when they are young kids. All you can do is the best you can and hope for the best. There is something out there called peer group that will exercise more influance than you can as a parent. That is something that might not see in her age cultural group. It can exist in her friends, in the school, in the neighborhood ,on the internet or even as in our case the church. Its invisable they keep it that way also. It can happen to any of you especislly those of you who or urban. If you have lived and loved like you have shown them by your own example. They may go down a path but they will never forget what you were and your ecample. It is a very hard thing to go through. We were lucky. We got the roght kind of councilling as parents. And she straightened up. As far as moving away I do not think that would be so awful. Look around you. it is pretty clear where this society is hell bent on going. I have told both of my adult your citizens of the world if you find a better place somewhere else go because there futurecis the thing not mine. My little girl is pushing 50 amd she and her husband can work anywhere in the world. when I look around this natiion I sometimes wish she would.

I for one do bit regard it as a rant. It is not the diversity Mitch its one groups view of the other that bothers me. Ice was gone just about everyplace for a few days. it might come back. when this new winter storm hits.

since we are helping this fella. i want to bring up another way he might enjoy. i rarely fish for catfish with bait. i fish for them with spoons. there is a best time and place for that and it can lead to some real exciting battles. Here is how it goes. After your down here awhile you learn there are certain points the white bass gang up and feed feed on shad. because they slash through the schools they kill or stun about as many as they eat. Those dead and dying ones fall to the bottom. This can attract big blues. At this time they are a real sucker for a spoon jigged straight down off with small hops off the bottom. biggest blue I caught doing this was 48 lbs. I use lighter tackle for this. Usually 10 lb. test lime on a small medium action bait casting rod and a short wire leader. To me it is a poor mans salt water experience. I can guarantee you whatever you do your going to have some thrilling experiences.

I was raised in St louis lower middle class working people and my contact with rural people came early. There is a lot of likeness between the two groups. My sole travels with both groups. These are my people. I detest them being made something they are not.
