Dude exactly little boats suck in the wind. That's why I have an anchor and some days the anchor is too light so I have to just quit. Sometimes on days I get to fish it's just way too windy to even launch so I usually just walk the bank on those days. Looking forward to getting a diff boat in 2022. My little boat experiment the past few years was nothing but a way to force myself how to figure out how to catch fish where I am that given day. When you don't have the option of running around you have to learn how to make them bite where you're at and that was the best thing I experienced by far. In the past with a big boat and motor I was conditioned to just pull up the trolling motor and go find another spot where I thought they might be biting instead of forcing myself to stay in that spot and figure out what I was doing wrong. With the knowledge I've gained I only expect my catches to get even better from here on . I'll never own another bass boat though, it will be metal v bottom and a small motor say a 40-60max. I'll be able to stay out there on those windy days and be able to pattern fish and target more species year round again. I used to fish Loz back in the 90's. I figured out a lure and a special way to rig it that bass would eat year round day or night and we always caught fish every trip. Thanks Bass Pro for discontinuing that lure 😞

Okra? How did you know I absolutely hate that stuff! I've tried it 3 different ways and just can't eat it. I tried to get on the golf team when I was in high school. Being the only lefty nobody could teach me so that never happened.

One again I'm going to try to catch some walleye in January and what few days we have left in December. I'm ready to go ,just need the weather to cooperate and give me some favorable conditions. Will report back later....

Oh man this story hits home. So sorry to hear what happened Bobby dang it man. Any aggressive dog that comes into our yard is immediately put down. We have written permission from the county sheriff's department to do so. I've been bitten twice , once in the hand ,and another time in the calf muscle, not life threatening but bloody, and sore, I have a 3 legged cat now and paid a $740 vet bill thanks to a pair of pitbulls owned by some tweakers. Another time a German Shepherd grabbed me. Both times they snuck up from behind while I gardening. I've never seen a deputy ask the owners for shot papers , or even inform me of what steps I needed to take health department wise after being bitten. The law here at that time was a joke. If they come back on your land just shootem . Is what they said. Haven't seen any pit bulls around since. Where I live in the sticks they just tell ya to kill the dogs to fix the problem. I am against doing that , it sucks , but when the people who are hired to protect and serve tell us to handle it ,there's no other option really. It's not like you want to go to the crack house and say hey can you do something about your dogs lol.Because the people who own these mean dogs and let them run are always scumbag white trash anyway and the deputies here don't want to deal with those people ,so they just tell us to take care of mean dogs by ourselves.. We don't have any city animal control either so , Sig Sauer gets the job done.

I don't fish tournaments anymore. They don't allow boats like the one Ive been using the last five years or so. I said I would show you something , not take you fishing. Man I don't even own a boat with a gasoline motor on it, and if I put another person in the boat with me I'm afraid we might sink it. If you saw my boat you'd say how the Fu** does this guy even catch what he does outta that thing 🤣 it's not about the 100k boat or the 6k electronics ,or $1000 rod and reel combos, it's all about stealth, skill and understanding fish behavior. I've learned so much by fishing out of a boat with no gas engine , just quiet electric power and a small profile . The fish let their guard down because I don't cast a huge 22' shadow or make any motor noise. Im Stealthy and sneaky. These guys with bass boats that fly into a cove at 59+mph just told every fish in the cove they are there lol. I've seen fish actually spook from the sound of someone starting a merc250 50 yds away from me. I'll be fishing derbies again one day, but I'll never own another bass boat .,it will be small and nothing larger than a 50 or 6O hp on it..What I've learned in 5 years while in my Jon boat I would have never known if I was still using a big bass boat .

You come here and I'll show you , then you can show your clueless friends too. Some people are just good at catching big fish regularly/consistently. It's nothing to get jealous about

Shoot had I posted on here every big bag and bass over 5lbs I've caught out of Bull since being an oaf member there would be sooooo many lurkers , omg even more than there is now. Most of my reports the avg. angler can relate to the information I share. I want to put people on fish using methods most fishermen are familiar with. The days I don't report are the days Im chasing those big fish. I rarely, if ever, show and tell, give up the goods on my big fish ,lures, and patterns in my reports. I'd have more than double the reports posted if I did that. Now I'd share a lot more about catching these big fish to the forum if things were different here ,but to just share that information on a public forum where anybody in the world has access to it without being a member ,,well that would be stupid . If I knew it was oaf members only looking, people who actually contribute something to bull shoals well then I wouldn't mind so much.

LOZ? That data is irrelevant and not even considered in comparisons because it's not in the chain. So laugh all you want I guess. the big bags are because of high water spawns, not because of a particular lure .Whats great is these fish can be caught numerous ways, not just electronics and fishing deep which a lot of people think they can't compete in a tournament without it and that's total bullcrap mind games imo. It's because of the population growth over the last 8 or 10 years. There has been a fish population explosion. Bull is reclaiming it's title as Bass Capital of MO. They put that sign in Theodosia for a reason😉

Most people don't because they haven't figured out how to do it yet.

For this time of year? Not sure what that even means

No need to apologise for anything. I should have never mentioned c and r in the first place because I know every time somebody does the original topic always gets ignored and the focus then becomes on c and r

Since the catch and release comment I made in the original first post has gained more attention than the actual intended topic of discussion I deleted it . And the replies I'm seeing have nothing at all to do with the big bag of bass which was the whole point to begin with . . I removed my original comment because I know how OAF works ,,and this would just turn into a 10 page discussion on eating fish or whatever if I don't stop it now on page 1. Have comments on the really nice bag of bass ? Let's hear them! Catch and release discussion is over.
-
So how about that 26 pound bag? Any thoughts on that or did all you see was my catch and release opinion 😄 My post was about the huge sac of bass not intended to start a thread about catch and release and if it's good or bad . I'll just delete this entire thing if it continues to distract from the main topic which is a 26 pound bag !!!

Id rather eat kentuckies than largemouth they taste better anyway imo Any comments on the huge bag of bass? Or was the catch and release comment more interesting lol?

Mid lake area with my buddy Ron........
Fish24/7 replied to Steve McBasser's topic in Lower Bull Shoals
Great fish guys! Bull has been on fire !! Deep shallow and in-between bass are being caught everywhere right now. I was out for a couple hours bank fishing the other afternoon and was catching them in 1 1/2' of water right by the bank on jerkbaits. Saw every fish eat my plug. Thanks for the report! -

I see it. What rods laying on the deck didn't you see lol? Zoom in -
Catch and release grows more fish that size, it was just a recommendation to everyone/anyone to practice it when bass fishing. I saw a guy release a 7+lb fish he caught during the Johnny Morris T practice at Bull. I have alot of respect for that angler because he chose to free the Fighter instead of eating it. Makes me sick when I see largemouth bass get their sides peeled..

I actually sold all my falcon casting rods, even my Cara cranking rods. For what I paid, and sometimes it was full price because our supplier didn't carry a certain model, I found rods that cost way less that actually performed better so I sold the Falcons. don't care where the rod is made either if it meets my needs and is priced right. I held dozens of Falcons in my hand over the last 25 years and never found one that could throw every pretty much every treble hooked bait in my box and performed to meet my very high expectations . I don't care if a rod weighs less or if the diameter is small if it doesn't do what I need it to. I use lightweight reels so the overall package isnt heavy in my hands at all. your All Capps HEAVY makes it sound like it's too heavy to use. Maybe it is for you but not me. It is a composite rod so it will be a heavier rod. It has enough backbone to turn a 30lb stripers head with ease. You comparing a $80 rod to one that costs 3x as much it better be lighter and smaller diameter for that kind of money. I can buy 3 Fenwick for the price of 1 Falcon . The mark up on Falcon rods is insane imo!! I used to sell them for 18 years. We paid less than half of what they sell for , easily a $100+ profit on every rod we sold. Idk what you pay for yours but your asking price is the same as what we sold them for. I'm sure there are many rod makers who have rediculous mark up on their product besides falcon . But for $80 I thought the Fenwick was the best deal I could find at the time. Thanks for the trip down memory lane ! Trust me, I've cleaned my fair share of minnow tanks and rental boats too in my lifetime 😆

I've got 2 , 6'8" mh Fenwick Lunker Stix casting . The newest model. Theyve been available for a few years I use them for all my cranking from small stuff like warts and little Norman's all the way up to a series 6xd. All my square bills. Lipless cranks from 1/4 oz up to 3/4. Also using them for all topwater baits from 2 3/4" popping style all the way up to a super spook. Also using them with braid for buzzbaits . Not exactly what I want in a rod for chatterbaits or blades. Mostly baits with treble hooks I no longer need a handful or more of rods to get the jobs done. That model covers everything I mentioned. At $80 I could afford 2 and have enough money left to buy new reels and line for them

Found some . Caught 11 on a slider head all in the same spot. These were the Biggest 2 Fish were in 9-11' on the bottom probably 50-60' or so from the bank on a bottom transition mud to rock .soft bottom to a hard bottom. I could feel it with the rod/lure when I was on that transition. When the sun got off the water they just stopped biting ,or I spooked them . If I picked the bait up off the bottom they wouldn't touch it. Swimming it nadda. If I drug it they wouldn't touch it. If I shook it they wouldn't touch it. If I pointed the rod tip at the lure and then turned the reel handle just enough to nudge the bait along the bottom a few inches at a time and then let it sit ten to fifteen seconds they ate it. 4 pound test and a 7' micro light rod was a lot of fun! Caugjt the same fish ,a small spot twice. Knew it was him cause he had swallowed somebody else's hook and had line hanging out it's mouth . Mix of spots and lm . All released.

3" of snow in the bottom of the boat and an inch on my head swinging four pounders that bit a lunker lure. That day we caught them 30-35' on the bottom with a jig and pig and in 2' of water on the flattest banks we could find with the buzz. 🌨️☃️

No topwater bite? They are still eating it on Bull in 52° water . Baby Bass Chug bugs, but that bite is gonna disappear any week now.

You picked a good day to go. Conditions were right. I think they've been running 6 units sometimes lately and that may have had a neg effect on those bank running fish, but you still tricked em Nice job! Did you try any small shallow cranks on flats or just the wart on the steeper stuff? Let me know next time you're going to be in my neighborhood ! We'll talk details 😉

Bslbd will never get another penny from me. Worst boat rental experience of my life about 10/12 years ago..boat was fine, the old broad behind the counter who rented it to us was beyond rude. Who rents a fishing boat to customers with cash, and then tells them "you won't catch any walleye today, it's too sunny". Came back in four hours or so with walleye. That shut her up pretty quick. They wanted to take our pictures, sorry that's not happening. Not the first or second or tenth time I've seen questionable sized fish posted on their Facebook. Camera angles can be tricky ,can make fish look bigger or smaller sometimes but some of the smaller looking fish in that pic seem to be squeakers if that . I hate seeing largemouth bass getting their heads whacked off, sure I eat kentuckies sometimes . There's way more of them than the other bass. Maybe these guys released them after the pic ,but some of those fish look like they already met God.
