  1. wait for it “Eventually everything is moving in tandem,” Rippey said, and that’s when things get weird for the planet’s weather. Freak Blizzard Buried Some Dairy Cows in the Snow; 35,000 Die This Year's El Niño Is On Track To Rival The Worst On Record I'm happy it's been raining in CA again but not happy about the flooding potentials or that gas leak..
  2. Q, home range to a BS or TR biggin is just a deep undercut ledge on a bluff below the standing timber that's so tangled with fishing lines that no lures can reach it ...they sleep/rest way back under that ledge all day, when night comes they poke their heads out and get a mouth full to eat, then go back inside .
  3. war, some fish will react negatively to motor noise, and some won't. If you get skunked... it's probably not because of your motor's sound. A 5hp Honda is a quiet engine. I use a 4hp Yamaha. I like a stealthy approach. Small boat /small quiet motors.
  4. 2 new personal bests in 2015
  5. thx, Quillback If they put transmitters in biggins at TR and BS and followed them after the spawn they'd have another new book to write, and I'd buy that one.

  7. cheesemaster, nice job with the jig! It's hard to beat it with this WT, full moon phase and crawfish spawning. There's been a good jig bite on BS too in the same type places you mentioned .Yesterday put 11 keepers in the boat (all released)in 3 1/2 hours fishing w/ a 3/8oz. green pumpkin /brown/black jig with a blue craw colored trailer.

  9. http://falconrods.com/customer-service.html Falcon has lifetime warranty on some of their rods, depends on the model If it's an HD model they break frequently. I sold 7 or 8 HD spinning rods this past year at the store and several were returned with 12" broken off the tip.
  10. I don't have anything to offer about using them right now but, maybe you can apply some of this to using them in Dec. for me they work very well in the Spring. I fish them at Lake Norfork and Bull Shoals during what I call "peak periods" for "big" swimbaits. I like the water temps warming up around 57 and things kind of slow down at 70 and above for me. The rest of the year its a lot harder for me to catch them on a big swimbait. That's when they get put back on the shelf until next Spring. when: dusk/dawn,new moon ,full moon, and during the late pre-spawn and spawn. then there's boat position and your location. put your boat up near the shore and cast deep, put your back to the bank is what I mean. (This is also how I position my boat sometimes when throwing a suspending jerkbait in winter) Main and secondary points near/in a spawning cove with fast drops into deep water(some kind of river or creek channel is perfect) , those are obvious places. Fan cast those areas while holding the boat in a fixed position up shallow on the point. Huge boulder rocks you can see with your eyes in shallower water during a warming trend in late pre spawn is another go..good luck!
  11. don;t worry about it, it's just funny to meMerry Xmas to you snagged, gitnby.Ham will probably hate me for saying this but I don't fish the rig much on huge reservoirs. It's a great numbers bait imo I like to chase biggins. does it catch some biggins out of TR and Bull, yes. In ponds, rivers, or other small waters , it's my "go to" . didn't intend derailing this thread man I apologize Eric
  12. yep,so do some of mine . but when the glued half a worm becomes torn in half where the hook exits it's time to replace it jmo
  13. funny how people frequently feel the need to share about Dave immediately after I post
  14. not just a tube...a stupid tube!
  15. when I used glue, the zinker/zero worm would eventually rip apart where the hook exits the worm and I had to replace the whole worm. I couldn't re adjust it because it was glued to the head. I really like the TRD now instead of the zinker or zero but still use all 3 because of color options w/o glue I just keep rotating it ., readjusting when needed, yes, it does take some fine tuning using a sickle, but I can keep on fishing the same worm, it doesn't tear apart where the hook exits. . the wire on a small Eagle Claw sickle hook is very small diameter and extremely strong. the special bend in the hooks prevents perch from easily pulling thee bait down the shank of the hook too it was also faster/easier for me to change colors as needed w/o glue or having to re tie. I just keep the same head tied on and just change the worm color No more rusty hooks from salted baits left on a cheap bronze hook for too long. I started out using bronze hooks and glue , so it's no glue and that nasty black nicklel hook for now.
  16. oic, gotcha now. im trying to get the ideas going
  17. why the urge to argue? who's arguing??
  18. js sickle hook on a Ned head doesn't need glue or a guard. The bend in a sickle hook keeps the worm from sliding down , and once hooked the fish can't throw it easily The angle of the hook point in relation to the angle of the jig eye helps prevent hang ups The shorter hook shank on a sickle. The flat sides and bottom of the head fish through brush and rocky bottom easily. After many experiments with hooks and heads I went with the flat sided, flat bottom head design and a sickle. Just about anyone can make their own Ned heads with a little help on the web.. You really don't need melting pots , do-it molds, or any of that stuff
  19. my version of a 3/8 oz. underspin,.the wire hanger that the Sampo swivel is on acts like a keel to keep the lure running straight.the longer wire shaft makes more space between the blades and the Owner hook for using thicker plastic baits like Keitech swimbaits. when the bait hits a piece of wood the wire acts a deflector to help prevent snags. been catching lots of black bass/whites/walleye/slab crappie on these at Bull for a couple years now they work great on a rig too!
  20. way more comfortable! BUT only if you hold it right.?... omg

  25. I like the type R, fastest reel I own at 8.1, use it for flippin' and pitchin' w/ a Rage rod
