  1. Gitzits are always a good bait to try if your a bed fisherman.
  2. I'm jealous to say the least. I can think of a million questions to ask. In your mind what separates these guys from you and your buddies that you fish with. Is it their mechanics of working a rod and reel in casting? Do they read water better? Versatility? I know you could probably say all of the above but did you see anything that stood out.
  3. If these guys are burning that much gas they aren't throwing jerkbaits. To me this boils down to who can make the most casts in a day with there favorite crankbait in the dirtiest water. Mix in a jig every now and then and ya get the trophy.
  4. I guessed 76-8 would take it. I would imagine they are looking for dirty water to crank. If you listen closely you can pick something up from these weigh ins. Mark Davis seems to be dialed in pretty good but this lake will humble even the best.
  5. They couldn't pick a better week to be at the Rock, it should be on big time. I'll guess 76-8 takes it for 4 days with a crankbait the main deal. Unless they are bed fishing like they are at St. Johns these guys don't slow down to much anymore. If the fish will bite a crank that's what these guys will throw. I heard VanDam likes to throw one. The local economy should get a good boost which is what really matters. Just get them back in the lake alive.
  6. I think some people are over reacting to the Hite conversation with Evers. He opened his rod box and pulled three rods out, said he had a couple megabass cranks and a vibrating jig on. He didn't display it for the camera but I think Hite was there to just get a few quick comments when they pulled out of the water. Evers was signing autographs when Hite approached him and seemed alright considering he knew he was short. These guys know what weight they got and they talk to each other, he knew he lost. As for as showing his fish why would he at the ramp, that's silly. I was surprised he pulled out what he did. Hite even said I'm not messing with your livewell.
  7. Its a shame ESPN wouldn't cover the classic live. Its not during prime time at night so I know it isn't up against the other sports. Just goes to show I guess money talks and the advertising dollars just aren't there for it to be viable, sucks to have to wait a week. On a side note I picked Walker and I hear is catching them, get em Dave.
  8. Interesting thing I just read about practice at the Classic. Ish Monroe was parked next to Mark Davis and noticed the first rod Mark pulled out had a spinnerbait on it. Mark says, when the water warms up quick a spinnerbait can be really good. When he won in 04 at Tablerock the spinnerbait was a big key for him. This Classic is gonna be a classic
  9. I got David Walker winning with 66-8
  10. I got David Walker winning it but Mark Davis will be right in the mix, conditions and this lake are to his liking.
  11. A report like that needs to be printed and hung on the fridge so everyone can read and learn a trick or two.
  12. I know when Brent Long won an FLW a few years ago some guys were throwing it. Spencer Shuffield finished 2nd or 3rd I think and I know he was using it. That tournament took place in April and the fish were in all three phases.
  13. Refresh my memory on the shad kill. What does it do to the fishing and how do you use it to your advantage? Do you like to fish in these "kill" places or do you avoid them?
  14. I live in St. Louis and don't get to fish all the time. Any story or report I get to read or see I'm grateful for, makes me feel like I'm there in some strange way. I guess I'm a little jealous.
  15. Can't have this discussion without throwing Stacy King in the mix
  16. I was just talking about "bass" fishermen, but I agree the best guys out there don't fish for bass. My three would be Larry Nixon, Denny Brauer, and although I heard he is a real a-hole Roland Martin. The competition today is a lot better than the 70's and 80's but the equipment today has a lot to do with that. Aaron Martens is very talented also. John Elway is the best QB but I don't want to open that can of worms
  17. Big fan of tournament fishing whether its the weekend guy or the Elite pro. If you threw out Van Dam and Clunn who would be in your top 3 all time. I got thinking about this because of all this talk lately about quarterbacks, Mannings legacy if he loses, who's the best etc.
  18. From the looks of the photo you guys had a great day, its not always about "loading the boat" with fish. I was down in November throwing a jig in Little Aunts one morning when a group of river otters started popping their heads out of the water, kind of scared me for a second. Anyway they came right up by the boat and were just as curious as I was. Being out with the wildlife makes it all worth it.
  19. Information like this does not get any better. Unbelievable forum
