  1. Oh, really. How many strains are there? Would like to learn more good science from fishermen on how to keep from getting this flu bug.
  2. Yeah, doing great thanks. Had a little scare over the weekend while out on a hike with the family. Short of breath and very dizzy. Long story short, ended up in the ER. Had an abnormal EKG and after a series of other tests discovered that I had "heart block", which is essentially the top chamber of the heart being out of electrical sequence with the bottom chamber. Not usually fatal, but can cause you to pass out and hit your head or, as you could imagine, not a good situation if you were driving. Pacemaker is a good fix with with an excellent outcome. Soon as I heal up, I will be better than ever. 10 year battery!
  3. No. Pacemaker installed.
  4. Nice reel and looks to be a bargain. Hardy reels such as this one are now made in China though, right?
  5. Having just spent 3 1/2 days in major St. Louis hospital and talking with the nurses, and doctors -- they are all quite concerned. All of the area hospitals are filling up fast, they are short staffed, fatigued from working long shifts, and the worst is yet to come. The view from my hospital room gave direct view to ambulance arrivals --- a constant parade of them coming from areas outside of STL county.
  6. Those are nice. I've bought a few of those and they work well.
  7. I don't even know what a kettle pond is, but if you are quoting Joe Brooks, well then, I will, in the parlance of or our time, STFU. I do hold him in high esteem. I've got some 22's and 24's hooks laying around here somewhere . .. . .
  8. TJM has it right, except for that part about 16 feet of 9X. Kooky talk. Try casting that. 🤣 Maybe misunderstood. 9X, even at the very end of 16 ft of whatever tapered construct, unless you're fishing for 3 inch minnows, its not right.
  9. Chopin Waltz in A minor. One of my favorites and this gal nails it.
  10. Holy smokes. I knew Bela was good, but this other kid is too.
  11. First prize!
  12. This beer I brewed 3 years ago has aged well. Russian Imperial Stout. I think it will pair nicely with dinner tomorrow, like a pardoned turkey . . . . These were the labels I produced that went onto the 20 oz bottles.
  13. WOW. Nice fish!
  14. Anyone ever try any micro greens? Friend of mine started doing this as a hobby and now he has turned it in to a full time business, supplying many high end restaurants and Straubs grocery stores. He can't grow the greens fast enough to keep up with the demand. Supposedly has 10-30 times the nutritional wallop of mature greens. Anyway, one of the best salads I've ever eaten. So flavorful. https://www.micro-meadows.com/home#products
  15. Sorry to hear, Oneshot. Hope he recovers. Back before Easter, actually it was on good Friday, my FIL was sent home from the COVID wing at Mercy. He was actually getting worse during his 12 day stay at the hospital. So we didn't want to see him die alone and the doctors agreed that there was nothing more they could do for him. So he came home to die, but day by day he rebounded and got his strength back.
  16. McClellans is bank! I’m also partial to a half mile stretch on the lower end below the handicapped access
  17. I would agree with that. But it is a different experience
  18. Nice boat for sure, but curious how well Kevlar would hold up long term, compared to plastic and royalex on our small creeks and rivers. I’ve only paddled in one once. Loved it.
  19. Not restful, no, but no better way to fall asleep.
  20. Putting the niece and several nephews on fish at the same time was a hoot!
  21. Oh yeah👍
  22. Fishing last weekend. Somewhere in MO
  23. Still confused. Volunteer fire department or Militia or some kinnah high-bred?
