  1. Nice report and feeshes. Good looking dawg too.
  2. Just now seeing this. Post of the year award goes to Ness!
  3. good post. just back from a 2 nighter on 11 point. I always tell myself I'm going light this time, but never do. I'll second the good tent and good dry bag suggestion. Footwear, socks, warm jackets, plenty of water, toilet paper and wet wipes. And good scotch!
  4. No kidding, Phil. I just bought U-verse service with HD and 300 some odd channels and I can't get the Cardinals game??? I'm not paying the $4.99 either. KMOX for me too
  5. I will ask him tonight how he got fox-snake-egg layer thing when I see him at our sons' baseball party. I freely admit I don't know squat about snakes, but I know this guy knows his stuff. Sorry if I came across as turning this into my herp is better than your herp! hahaha Just wanted to get to the bottom of this mystery snake picture.
  6. Here is what he said exactly. It's a hybrid. Cross bred between two sub species. Certain genus can do this and this looks like its a hybrid between a broad banded water snake and something else (possibly midland brown or fox snake). Not uncommon for snakes to do this.
  7. Huh, what gave you the impression I was offended? Herpetologist Steve Ceriotti was shown this picture and he said it is definitely not an eastern hognose. He said it is likely a cross-breed of 2 species, a hybrid broad-banded water snake/midland brown/fox snake.
  8. Dang nice fish.
  9. No argument there pardner. Cut their pay first and their benefits as in right now.
  10. Good pick, Hank. I don't think the outfitters serve the upper North Fork above twin bridges, do they?
  11. Bryant Creek? or upper, upper Gasconade?
  12. Chiefs will finish 9-7 and will lose their first game of the playoffs. We have seen it before and will see it again.
  13. If you work for a bloated cow, and you KNOW you work for a bloated cow, you shouldn't be surprised when it comes time for that bloated cow to be sent to the butcher. My hats off to the hard-working govt employees that are out there, but they are the exception, and not the rule.
  14. Here here! There should be no back pay either. Except for our military personnel if it comes to that. This is a govt lay-off, plain and simple. They need to feel the same pain as everyone else. No work, no dough!
  15. I'm all for this shutdown. It will only draw attention (a good thing) to what is going on, and make people wake up and realize how jacked up things really are. Vote them all out. This isn't about Obamacare. Its about power. Power needs to be restored to the American people and taken away from the arrogant clowns who think they have it. Long live the shutdown and I truly hope it only gets worse.
  16. Here's one, not local though:
  17. Niangua, above Bennett.
  18. Anyone gotten clarification on this? You can be on the river, or can't you? And you can use the accesses, just not park there? Not all accesses have a gate and how the heck would they enforce this with furloughed rangers?
  19. Its a free upgrade, no? I went in to settings and it says that it offers the following: 1) fixes bugs that could allow someone to bypass the Lock screen passcode. 2) reintroduces a Greek keyboard option for passcode entry. No thanks to either!
  20. I don't understand the need for the constant upgrades. I think I'll pass on this one.
  21. Big River at confluence of the Mineral Fork
  22. Spoke to my friend who IS a herpetologist. I had shared this picture with him last week and he laughed at this discussion. He said it is definitely not a hognose snake. He said there is a grand total of only 7 herpetologists in the state and he knows all of them. He asked me to ask WHO your herpetologist is that says this is a hognose snake.
  23. Oh come on people, this is too easy. Any halfwit, armchair Crocodile-Hunter-re-run watching, semi pseudo reptile geek could tell you that this is clearly a hybrid, cross bred between 2 sub species. Certain genus can do this and this is obviously a hybrid broad banded water snake and either a midland brown or possibly a fox snake. Not uncommon for snakes to do this. Duh.
  24. Beautiful photo. Haven't been to that confluence in many years.
  25. nice report, G nothing worse than heat and horseflies . . . but bailing out of the boat so quick that you lost a rod?? wow, that must've been funny to watch. Sorry. I'm ready for a fishin trip soon and in a bad way. Thanks for the pics and the report.
