  1. I don't know what the heck that was. I shuttled cars with Gavin and when we got back to boatramp I had some of Hoff's stuff in my boat and I think it was a can of brake line cleaner. Anyway, I quit drinking Aqua-Net cold-turkey last year, you know that.
  2. Gavin, that fish was easily 13", c'mon man. Huge fish by PD standards.
  3. Fished it on foot a couple weeks back. Hiked the park down to dry fork. Very, very low. Fishing was crap too. I'd think it would be more trouble than its worth in a drift boat right now. And especially putting in at Hwy 8 -- no way, bro. Wait till she's blown out or on a serious rise and then be ready to go. Might be fun pitching some big streamers.
  4. Nice pictures. Love that Peerless reel.

Neat looking place. Never heard of it.
  6. Alright. reading reports like this . . . I gotta get out of this office.
  7. Drought hurts that river bad. And flood? . . .I haven't checked, but probably have to go back 2 years or more since the gauge on it has been over 2.5, a very minor flush, IMO. And was is it on here somewhere recently that I read they were cleaning out a septic at Montauk and flushing the crap right into the river?
  8. whats this stuff about the "Lureman" soaking his baits in Fritos crumbs? Thats right, Fritos. Got me thinking. Anyone got any tubes or jigs marinating in Fritos BBQ shake? Thats what I'm wonderin might be the schnizzle this winter. That guy, Lureman is an innovator, WAY out front. Pushing the envelope further . . . Chili Cheese Fritos. ??? ponder on that one.
  9. Good report, Al. Fishing doesn't always have to be stellar when you have good friends along and great scenery.
  10. Paul Dallas is available only by appointment/deposit of bail bond. Any of the other choices and you will quickly realize you got something much, much less. You get what you pay for people. River fishing is horrible right now, but only Paul has it dialed in with trophy sized fish guarantees.
  11. Not only did it go upstream, but it went up and over a rather tall chunk of concrete. Never underestimate the strength and determination of high-modulus graphite, its why we pay more for it. Please send the rod to me, OB, it belongs to me.
  12. downstream of a certain spring branch (to remain nameless but you could probably figure it out) had hundreds of these guys stacked up yesterday -- and much bigger, including a couple largemouth that were easy 20"
  13. I could get behind a tax on high fructose corn syrup and any commercially sold or prepared food with a fat content higher than 40% . . . but the fact remains that cigarette smoking kills many more than syrup water and see no downside in trying to tax it to extinction. Alcohol isn't going away, but smoking can be pushed further to the margins without much trouble. Slippery slope indeed, but a nice little revenue stream . . . at least short term.
  14. Visited the shop yesterday when I was in town visiting my brother, Frank. Nice shop and well-stocked. Very nice guys working there. Bought some fly-tying stuff and a couple hats and they even threw in free t-shirts and stickers. Talked with them a bit and they showed some cool big streamers they tied and caught some decent sized muskies with out at Fellows Lake. Highly recommend this shop to anyone in the area. To heck with BP!!!
  15. Just now seeing this and as my distinguished colleague Ness has pointed out, you can do a lot worse than a tailor-made vest from Robjents. Clive is a decent chap there but If you are looking for something in fine tweed . . . sophisticated but cleverly understated well enough to blend in with commoners, I have frequented the countryside tailorshop in Totteridge known to discriminant buyers as Lord Havershams. Ask for Geeves and tell him Paul Dallas sent you and he may waive the appointment fee. After one or three fitting sessions it is only then a matter of waiting your turn on the waiting list and for the seasons to change, as fabric for the tweed is procured from virgin wool from the first sheering of the spring, painstakingly selected from only the healthiest of their award winning stock of north highland sheep. This shop will also work with you on matching your family's tartan as he has for generations with my Dallas ancestors before me.
  16. Gavin - no comparison between the health consequences of smoking and just about any other sin tax you want to mention, doesn't matter if it is double whoppers with cheese or Tito's Potato Vodka -- smoking is by far the biggest killer and biggest financial burden to all of us taxpayers. Its fine if people that want to kill themselves slowly, but they should at least pay as they go. By the way, please bring an extra pack of Marlboros for me to sponge off you on the next float.
  17. Yeah, that one boggles the mind how it failed. I've heard people say they couldn't vote for it because they didn't believe the money would go for education. I say who cares where it goes, general funds, I don't care, maybe it should go to fund all the medicaid folks dying in the hospital of lung cancer.
  18. Japan, Missour? Sounds like a place Paul Dallas would know well. Good laughs from your report. I wouldn't consider a 16 inch smallie on a half-day trip to be all bad.
  19. I just discovered this offer this morning. Wouldn't have been able to join you anyway, but it sure sounded good. Report up when you get back.
  20. Been happy with my Columbia vest -- I think it was under $70. I like the padded neck so it doesn't dig into your neck so bad.
  21. Good looking poppers. If they land right side up, seems like a good idea.
  22. Where can I get me one of them KVD shirts?
  23. yeah, thats right, a youtube clip of some Officer Fife's lookin fer ya.
  24. Good to see the Hellbender -- very cool! Yeah - I agree about the fall colors -- best I can remember in several years.
