  1. Catch and release is the best time down there. I had several days close to thirty or forty last winter. I even caught a twenty inch Brown . My personal best. I think Tim is only there on Friday and Saturday if memory serves. Its a bummer that there aren't any other fly shops down there open this time of year.
  2. I don't know about that wrench. I have had days where they would be eating flies and no matter how close I got it to them no takers until I switched to a smaller size fly. I think there is at least some selectivity there lol
  3. The peeing thing is solid advice nothing worse than having to drop those waders in the woods! Lol and I have fallen twice now which brought a good laugh! Fooling the selective ones is my favorite though
  4. I am very addicted to fly angling these days and have enjoyed watching my skills evolve from a sloppy , fish spooking newbie to an accurate, educated fly fisherman . To really get into the science of trout and how they feed in the water column has been top of my list. I have studied hours of video and spent long days logging hundreds of casts on the stream to get to where I am. I am astounded every time I find new strategies or figure out how fish are biting on a certain Day. I have a desire to continue learning and to start sharing my skills with others who want to get into fly fishing. I have taken a few people out and have had the pleasure of having access to this site and be able to post and give advice to folks. You're never to old to learn or except constructive criticism
  5. Susie is super nice met her on little sacy first time down
  6. I typically fish from walleye bridge down to shoal creek confluence , is there a specific range you guys are fishing?
  7. I'll be in a gold ranger
  8. Nice fish! Good job tracking it.
  9. Yo should come to Ollie fest at Capps creek next Sunday. The one after thanksgiving

  10. My best day down there was That 22degree day we had in November last year. Also had a twenty plus day in the rain.
  11. Not fishing related but exciting
  12. The black ones are supposed to be jaguar from central America not cougar. They don't come in black. However in some light darker brown back fur looks black. I almost hit one on hwy 39 in Lawrence county a few months ago. Late at night it stopped in the fence row and was unmistakably a mountain lion. I asked a guy who had lived out there and has land and he said he shot one some years earlier. It got away but he found the fur and blood.
  13. wow that's a hog!
  14. I too think the quality on crane is top notch. I has made it difficult to go anywhere else. Especially now that I have gotten a good grasp o the layout and how it fishes and how cast in such close quarters to selective fish. I have still to figure out the lower wire road access. I haven't had as much luck down there. Seems right now to stopped up with brush in some of the places that I caught fish earlier this year. hoping to maybe wade a bit further when I have some more time. The trestle bridge down to the private property flags have been good to me lately.
  15. I've been meaning to try eleven pt and north fork of white. Just finding the time is tough. Crane is only a few minutes away so I have become obsessed lol
  16. I love that place! All alone quiet and plenty of fish to catch!
  17. Watch bubble lines and current seams. Look for anything breaking the current, like big rocks or tree roots. The fish like to hide in the pockets they create. Also, try fishing from down stream of your target areas. This helps a lot to prevent spooking selective trout. Be thorough. My two cents anyway
  18. Reading the stream has taken me while to get good at. However once you learn to fish every stretch of water with same fervor your numbers and comprehension how the fish feed in a particular body of water will greatly improve. The first time I went to crane I caught one fish , then I watched a bunch of videos on how to read a stream and wild trout holding patterns and now I catch way more. Had fifteen plus day down there even. Same with trout parks and Capps. Study the fish then the water and you will get there quick
  19. Had the chance to get down there again and boy it was on fire today! I caught eight on bh prince nymph and five or six on the wooly bugger in both olive and black. Also, took a couple on the red midge. The best part was the elk hair caddis bite. it was aggressive. There were several hatches while i was there today. One of blue winged olives, another of pale blue duns I believe, and some other tiny white mayflys in various sizes id say from 18 to 22. They didn't seem to mind my 16 elk hair though. They tore it up in the current seams. Not to mention I caught my personal best crane creek mccloud rainbow! HE was in full colors and about fifteen inches long. here are some pictures from the day, first one is the big one.
  20. Yeah spin fly combo. Its neat ill have to take pictures for you guys. probably 3/4 wt its heavy duty for sure.
  21. i am heading down to mcloud town tomorrow .
  22. Went to a garage sale and there it was still in the original trailmaster bag. Super good condition and maybe never used. I have been looking for one like this and it was under some other junk. I got it for really cheap. Super neat
  23. Personally I like to dead drift large nymphs subsurface. I think I get the urge to do this from all the years of small mouth and goggleye fishing. I just enjoy the idea of a monstrous fish lingering in the deep like the kracken waiting for some unsuspecting victim to cruise by. I do so enjoy not knowing until it surfaces the first time. Granted its not as adrenaline pumping as dry fly fishing but it's got its own allure just the same.
  24. That's it right there Al . The real feeling of nature and peace inside. Nothing can contend with it except maybe my beautiful wife.
