  1. Hit crane creek Friday for a long walk. I landed five and had several others get off. One was landed while recovering from falling in a deep hole . I tried to save my iPod which I finally remembered to bring to take picture to load up. Its back on but touch screen won't work. Any way I assumed since u fell in the hole no fish would still be around and I laid my rod with u feet of leader on the ground the olive jig washed down stream and the little trout almost got my rod. Landed him he was just big enough that the par marks were fading. Maybe eight inched or so. They were very aggressive today. Had a big one take a swipe at a foam beetle I tied up Thursday. Only looked once then spooked. Lost the beetle in a tree. Good day. Thanks Ty and Jim at plateau for the buggers and Griffiths gnat. Caught most on the buggers.
  2. The niangua has definitely declined. When I was in school we would go every weekend all through high school and slay the trout. After 2003, we saw a very different river,. I've been the last two years taking friends in the winter and had moderate luck. One day we caught fifteen in a snow storm. But overall btw population seems very low. Also I noticed a decrease in trout caught when sandsprings pushed in that spring up above Bennett. There used to be a big pool and always trout in it. Now canoe launch. Seems canoe revenue is taking precedents.
  3. Had 30minutes today to stop in neosho and check out the creek. I walked a few hundred feet along it in the city park. I landed a twelve inch rainbow and about ten minnows of different varieties. Nice little creek pretty trout and he hammered the bugger for sure. Didn't see but the one trout though.
  4. Awesome day! I love that creek!
  5. Nope still won't open files
  6. I still can't get picture to load but I think it's my own ineptitude lol
  7. Still won't work*
  8. That's a neat rod! You may want to get a cheap one until you get used to it. That way you don't hate yourself if something goes wrong and it's broken. Academy has some good start up fly rod rigs. So does Wal-Mart if it's with in so many miles of a trout water.
  9. Never caught a hybrid. . . Sounds fun though!
  10. As summer begins the decent into Autumn I find myself saddened by the fact that Ive only been able to fish a handful of times. They have been quality trips as are all Missouri trips , but few and far between. I had such grand visions of taking trips to catch New species to add to the list. It seems as though life doesn't care how grand or well planned your fishing plans are. Life just happens and you.just have to roll with flow. I do love to fish summer but I guess there is still hope for Autumn and winter (my favorite though uncomfortable) . Time to start planning again to maybe make up for the lack of trips. Maybe even take a big trip. Hopes are high for the taneycomo Brown run but water is still high and looks to be a wet fall. Guess it'll just be Capps and crane again if all else fails. The possibilities are endless . Just needed to ramble...
  11. Thanks for sharing. if you get a chance winter is quite amazing down there as well. I'm going to Google Dons crawdads
  12. Quite a few trout end up in bs that's why the striper fisherman use huge rainbow trout swim baits!
  13. Same... snakes are too much for maybe two fish at Capps. October isn't to far off maybe even September... try crane if you are into fly fishing and c and r.
  14. This is welcomed as I have been unable to post pictured since I never get on the computer! I will be glad to share my photos with this! Thanks computer guys!
  15. That's how I found several of my now favorite spots. It's amazing to get to a new stream and see if the gamble has paid off. Sounds like a great trip!
  16. Lol whoops
  17. Fishing is the only time I can be solo and not feel alone, the only time I can truly clear my head and de-stress from the woes that life slings at me. Fish don't care about sales projections or labor budgets. They dont concern themselves with anything but food and survival. That is why I fish alone mostly. Now time and again it is great fun to take a friend out and show them how wonderful the stream is. Too share secret spots and catch up on the thongs we've missed in our lives apart. Truthfully, solo is more relaxing for me though.
  18. Roaring river is way better. I grew up down the road from Bennett and roaring is like a different world to.me. better fish quality less people and they have cleaning stations so no gutt piles everywhere. Good catch and release zone unlike Bennett. Park store is cheaper on flies
  19. Sounds like a great day!
  20. Definitely agree on the Amber. Not a fan of super expensive glasses as I tend to brake or lose them. Polarized aviators Panama Jack work well for me even in the shade. In Sun I use my bass fishing mirrors also cheap and polarized.
  21. Didn't get to go yet again. My buddy went five hi a first time abd landed a fifteen Incher but that was all he caught. Said he saw a ton and one that had to go five pounds or better. I think I'm going to go crazy if I don't get time off to go
  22. I've been fishing crane for almost a year now and I am just curious what time others have luck there. I have had the best luck around 10 to 11 am. Usually don't see actively feeding fish until then. I've been all times except night.
  23. Yeah that's the movie I quoted! He was my favorite wrestler as a kid
