  1. A.mountain lion was killed.on interstate in central Missouri a couple months ago.first event of one being hit by a car in MO history. They are coming home.
  2. The taneycomo envy is setting in about now...
  3. I love catching drum as well ham totally catch and release. I caught a twelve pound one on a micro lite once best fight ever.
  4. Well laker caught that 28lb one a while back and I haven't heard of anything close to that in a while. Maybe this boom will help us get one like that again. I would be happy with an 8or ten pounder myself.
  5. It seems as though there haven't been any giants in there for a while. hopefully this scud boom will create one or two. I expect we'll have a good Brown run this fall as well.
  6. It seems that most were ok with catch and release they just didn't care about regulations. Which would make since. Most people don't even read wildlife regs or codes. They just do like they've always done. If like you guys said and we had more agents out and about I think even to just educate, we would see a sizeable difference in pole responses. Sometimes those of us who have been educated and have fished as a passion for years forget that not all people were brought up like we were.
  7. Osage would make since!
  8. Took pops fishing today, he is a bait fisherman these days so that he can sit down. We hit Suzy hole four about two hours. I caught four nice sized trout in the ruffle below the bridge between two and three. One on worm and the others on orange power eggs. Tried to move him to the fly zones but rain set in hard and we called it a day. I never go to Bennett so I'd say it was a decent day. Dad enjoyed catching sculpin all day. He caught twelve in all. He was to tired to get up and move yo find trout so I kept him rigged and reeling in sculpin. He said he had a good time getting out of the house. All I cared about anyway. Thanks for the suggestions all.
  9. On the niangua there are tons of floaters and over the years we've seen the population ebb and flow on big smallies. Some years more drunk floaters which seems to equal less fishing pressure and other years more fishing floats. We never have had trouble with numbers but size seem to coincide with the years of less fisherman. What watershed is niangua?
  10. Very nice trip. I am dying to get down there again.
  11. I agree about the bait killing more fish. That's the moral dilemma but the question is on the legality of the matter.

Was wading with dad when I was 19 and caught an 18 then about ten casts later dad caught a 23inch one. Kissed through it back... mo streams are the best.
  13. It usually coincides with a big die off when they take orange. Possum Brown or gray are go to though.
  14. With the scud die off would orange scuds along grass or bank be good?
  15. Is it in the book somewhere ? I've caught plenty of trout on pb and didn't let them swallow it. I'd like to see the rule on that one
  16. He likes jigs so that's probably the way I'll take it.maybe rig a jig under a float on his fly rod.
  17. Guys my dad lives down the road from Bennett on 64 and lives fishing there but since he starts being on oxygen hasn't gotten to go much. I'll be down Monday to take him but not sure what pattern is good down there since I mainly fish crane and roaring river. Any help would make my dad's trip a good memorable one he lie s jigs so may try some of those for him. He says fly is what he wants to do though. Thanks in advance
  18. Ned. . .
  19. Awesome! That's on my list for sure.
  20. Sounds fun! I love taney
  21. I am assuming that the mountain lion comment is sarcasm lol because we've seen them and recently one was hit on the interstate 44 corridor. First reported case if one being hit by a car in Missouri.
  22. Late morning early afternoon always work for me. Just before dark can be magical as well. All the big smallies I've caught were in afternoon on the river.
  23. Out of curiosity, would frog fly work for smallies like it does on bucket mouthd?
