Thank you boys very much for all your responses. I have a couple of buddies that have the Bubba and they really like it also. But they are pricey! Of course everything is nowadays. I went to Wallyworld and was going to buy the American Angler, suggested by some of you boys, but they didnt have one. I went online and checked on some top rated fillet knives and the Bubba was highly rated. So was the Rapala R12 Heavy Duty lithium. The top rated one, for what it is worth, was the Kastking Lithium-ion Speed Demon Pro. 95 dollars. I ended up ordering it. I also ordered a Tower Top 2/10/25 battery charger. 90 dollars. It was highly rated. Once again i sincerely appreciate your input. ps Happy Birthday Champ!!

I like to come to this site to ask you boys about outdoor gear. You boys have been very helpful thru the years. I need a new battery charger and a new filet knife. I just bought a new Mister Twister knife and the blades were just awful. Tried to filet up a walleye the other day and it would barely cut. My old battery charger sat in water the other day and i think it toasted it. It was a cheap charger from Harbor Freight that had 2 amp, 10 amp and 50 amp settings on it. Thanks boys for any input.

Headed down this week to mow, weedeat and put some grub control down. Moles are tearing up my yard! No fishing reports in quite a while on Pomme. Anybody got any advice? Would be much appreciated.

In Canada fishing with my son. Time to eat and sandwich and take a break. I put my jig and minnow over the side of the boat just barely in the water to keep my minnow nice and lively. Big mistake. Rod shot off the boat like a missile. Probably a pike. Tried the metal stringer trick. Never could snag it. Nice St Croix rod with a nice Pfleuger reel gone!! Live and learn.

Went down to my place on Pomme and did some work. mowed. weed eated. put some Tom Cat worms in some mole runs in my yard. Thought i might try an evening fish. But i went to the ramp in the Wheatland park area and the courtesty dock was out in the lake! I would have had to swim to it! So much for that. Drove over to the dam park ramp and same thing. So much for fishing Pomme yesterday.

Any of you crappie boys down at Pomme willing to share any crappie news? I've been going down to LOZ the last few weeks and have had some moderate succcess. I have a place on Pomme and was wondering what was going on there. I dont fish for crappie very much. Ususally just in the spring when they are shallow and i can target them with a jig and a bobber. No ffs. Thanks for any info.

Hank Parker came out against the use of ffs. This was one of his main points. Some kids fishing in tournaments can afford it and some cant. Thus, an unlevel playing field.

72 degrees here in Smithville at 4 pm today. By 7 am its supposed to be 17 degrees!!!

Dont get too excited about a win over my hapless Tigers boys! The loss v your Hogs set the all time record for consecutive losses. The shine is off Dennis Gates. The arena is half empty again. MU will have a new AD that did not hire him. Supposedly he has a good recruiting class coming in. Supposedly. He certainly deserves a 3rd year but he is venturing out onto thin ice territory.

Can i place a split shot or two a couple of feet above a scud just to keep things simple? Or are these Tanneycomo trout to wise for that? Would it be better to put a weight below the scud? Kinda like a drop shot setup. I'm from the kiss school. Keep it simple stupid!

The cabins at Orleans Trail are small. The one i stayed in had the bed right in the main room. No bedrooms. Maybe some of the other cabins had bed rooms. The motel is nice. Not sure if they had plug ins in the parking lot though.

I dont fish for trout very often. Next week i will be down at Tanneycomo for a few days. My question to you trout boys: is there a way to fish a scud with a spinning setup? I understand those scuds are very tiny and need to be fished on the bottom. I think? I assume most of the scud fisherman use fly rods? Any advice would be deeply appreciated.

1) I hardly watched any bowl games this year because of the interim coaches, opt outs and who really wants to be there. I did watch a little bit of the KU v LV game. Was hoping Ol friend Barry Odom could send them home with a loss. Sorry Vernon. But his defense played as well as MU did when he was head coach. I watched most of KSt game v NC St. I'm a closet KSt fan and have a son that graduated from there. And being an MU fan i watched the Tigers. 2) If McCord and Harrison play it certainly would have affected the outcome. I think. But like Bill says it is what it is. Most of Ohio St players are 4 star and 5 star kids. Its a good win for MU. I've heard McCords Dad wanted a guarantee that his kid would start next year. Day wouldnt give them that. So he went to Syracuse. From Ohio St starting qb to Syracuse?? 3) I wouldnt think of betting on bowl games. like i said, interim coaches, opt outs, who really wants to be there? But i put a little coin on both semi final games. I bet on Alabama on the moneyline and took Texas minus the 4 pts. Lost both! But those were two exciting games last night. Great entertainment. It reinforces what i said earlier about i dont want to punish myself and not watch despite hating the way college athletics is right now. 4) Will you take me fishing Dock In It??

Happy New Years to all you boys! We made it another year. I'm 71 yrs old and i hate the way college athletics is headed. I'm old school. I thought you played your entire regular season to get to a bowl game! And now they opt out? I was against NIL. We already got pro leagues. 99% of those D1 athletes will never have it better than when they are in school. Free room, free meals, free books, free tuition, fly in private planes to places all over the country, stay in top hotels. Colorado qb, Dion's son, made 8m last year in NIL deals. With that being said, like Bill said, its not the 50's, 60's, 70's............ anymore. Times have changed. You can sit around and gripe about it, quit watching whatever. Or accept that change and go with it. I dont want to punish myself by not watching games that i love. Drinkwitz is a weird dude. He was doing snow angels in the confetti! But that dude can recruit and young players like him. He has adopted all the changes with portals and nil and is prospering with it. Go Drink Go!! And go Mizzou!!

I havent fished Pomme lately but their was a guy on here awhile back that fishes Pomme and he claimed the area from Lightfoot up river on the Pomme arm was best for fall fishing. Good luck. And hope muskies dont steal your lures!!

Thanks Dutch for the info. I usually like to fish for smallies up on the main lake area. Maybe I'll go over to Roarks Bluff and put in there and fish up river instead for largies. 10 with 4 keepers is a pretty good day!!

Must be pretty slow out there Skeeter. Think i might get over to Stockton for a few days early next week. I'm seeing temps in the 70's. Fish for walleye one day and bass one day. Any info would be appreciated. I know the Table Rock boys hate September!!
