Quill you're starting to sound like Bo!! "Pretty slow day today. Only 30 with 5 keepers!"
-
Had a great time! Thanks to all that was instrumental in putting this event together. Always good to see you boys and put some faces to the handles on here. Looking forward to next year.

I was encouraged by the Tigers play last night. They fought Ark tooth and nail to the end. Razorbacks are good. A 3 seed in the Dance and maybe move up to a 2. 12 straight wins in SEC. Thats amazing! Thats with Mark Smith playing like doo doo again. I'd like to see Pickett or Watson get his minutes. Tillmon had as many rebounds as i did. I agree Bill. Thats a 6'10" post player that wants to play in the nba? Pinson needs to come back for his senior year. Get stronger. Be able to finish with contact. Lunardi has Tigers as an 8 seed. Jerry Palm has them a 6. Committee likes teams that play a tough schedule and the Tigers certainly did that. They have several Quad 1 wins. I'm hoping they get off the dreaded 8/9 seed. But they have no one to blame but themselves if that is where they end up. Hey Bill: Did Blue Eye girls win last night? Our pitiful KC Star up here didnt have any results.

Eagle Rock Upper White River. 3-10-21

Alright! The fish are biting! And now here comes the heavy rains! Thats a bad beat Scott Van Pelt!! -
Aaron White down at Pomme is a good friend of mine. I believe he is selling the Crestliners now. His dad, Bob White and my dad were high school friends. Bob went down there when Pomme was created back in the early 60s. He fell in love with the place and opened up a boat storage. He passed and Aaron took over and turned it into this mega business. Good people. thanks Stlbassbuster for sending the info on the Lund.

Thanks for the responses boys! I'll check out that boat Mopanfisher. I had not heard of any transom problems with the newer Lunds Kjackson. Hate hearing that. I am not married to a Lund purchase but that is my preferance. I agree that Crestliner and Alumacraft make a good boat. I've talked to the new owners of Smithville Marine BillT. Good people. She is keeping an eye out for me. Once again, thanks for all the input boys. Much appreciated.

thanks boys! I will try these websites and look at that boat Gumboot. I agree KJackson that this is a bad time to be looking for a quality used boat. Lots of people decided to quarantine on a boat or in an RV i guess. I was told by somebody to wait a couple of years and all these people that bought boats will decide to sell because its not what they thought it was, or dont use it enough. But i really dont want to wait. Once again, i sincerely appreciate your input.

Good for you Bill. Living in pain is no fun. this will allow you to continue to do the things you love!!

I'm looking to upgrade my dogsled! Ok, not funny! I am looking to upgrade my boat. I currently have a 2002 Lund Rebel with a 40 hp Yamaha. I'm retired now and fish quite a bit so i would like to end my fishing years in a better boat and a little more hp. I'm not married to a Lund but kinda prefer one. I really like the Lund Impact 1775. In 2017, i think, they built the back into 2 seats that fold down into a nice deck for a co angler. I bass fish more now than ever. My question to you guys is where to look? I've tried Boattrader and some other web sites. Not much there. Any advice is well appreciated. Stay warm boys! Thanks.

Lilley's Lake Taneycomo Fishing Report, January 23
Smithvillesteve replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Just want to thank you guys for putting out this report. Got a few of us heading down this week and was hoping you would put out a report. Once again, thanks. -
Great thread. Thanks for the info boys!! I'm 68 years old and I love cranking that RK but my old shoulders can only take so much. After about an hour i have to "sit down to slow down" as i call it. Throw a jig, ned, dropshot, shakeyhead etc.
-
Bill: Great report. Question: At 8-12 fow is your RK deflecting off structure? I'm not sure I get mine down that deep when i throw one. I got 12 lb mono on my cranking rod. Would going to 10 lb or 12 lb floro help that? Happy New Year to all you TR boys!

Merry Christmas to all you Pomme boys!! -
I'm in Quill. And thanks for doing the work.

Bill and Bo: I think we have had this discussion on here before but i just want to ask you two guys anyway and i appreciate yours and any other response. You are catching deep fish at 70 ft. Do you fizz those fish upon releasing them? I thought you had said if you release them immediately there is no need to do that. I only ask because i may go down soon and try my luck at some deep fish. If i am lucky enough to enjoy some success i would want to do the right thing. And Bo i know you posted here awhile back that you had caught some deep fish too. Thanks gentlemen.

I havent noticed the 110's being fragile. I broke one up here in Smithville last year. Of coursed i blasted it into the rocks on the dam fishing for walleyes. I'm thinking that probably could break any jerkbait.

Boys as you can see here from Vernon and Dutch you just dont know how it is going to affect you. And who knows what is coming years after if you contract it. There are just so many unknowns. Bottom line is to do all you can to stay safe. It doesnt mean you cant still live your life! Its sad to me that this has become a political issue. Glad you're doing ok Vernon and everybody else on here that has tested positive. I'm hoping for an OA tourny in March!!!!
-
I'm with you Vernon. Going fast either on land or water just isnt for me. And on water is just seems faster. Hopped in my buddy's son bass boat earlier this year up here in Smithville. We were going like 70 across the lake. i was white knuckled the whole time. I lost my sunglasses and my coffee cup. Bottom line is we got 2 dead. Many times on here people have posted fishing trips with their kids. We have hit the like button or I usually respond with "priceless". A father took his son out on a fishing trip and both ended up dead. Such a trajedy. Heartbreaking.

Back from Mille Lacs
Smithvillesteve replied to Smithvillesteve's topic in General Angling Discussion
Yea he had carpeted bunks but he also had some plates installed on the bunks to make the boat slide off and on easier. Knowing that he should have kept that boat pinned up. It didnt enter my mind because i know my aluminum boat would have been fine. Live and learn i guess. 3,000 dollar repair!! Ouch!! We stayed at a place called Fisher's. Up in the northwest quadrant. Really nice. But expensive. -
I heard there was a bad boating accident this morning up around the Big m area this morning. Two boats collided leaving 2 people dead. You boys heard anything? Sad deal.

Got back from Mille Lacs sat night. It was good bad and ugly. The good was we caught a handful of really nice fat fighting 3 and 4 lb smallies. We found some good fishing spots in 3 of the 4 quadrants based on what the wind was doing. Mostly ned and drop shots. If somebody on here wants to step me through the process of putting pics on here i will do that. Old phone, 5s, and limited tech abilities due to age. The bad. When we got there sunday it was 80 degrees and windy. Only 15 mph winds but that is enough to get that big water rocking pretty good. So we didnt want to go out 2-3 miles offshore and target those reefs and big boulders like we wanted to. There were some guys in cabin next to us that were leaving and they had some good days. 25-30 smallies with some 5's and one 6. But they fought the wind all week. They also fished the full moon if you believe in that. Well, by monday it was 50 degrees and 35 at night. Yep, the dreaded cold front! It was dang cold on that water!! The ugly: Monday we fished an area on the lake and wasnt doing very good so we moved to another area. As i was backing my buddy down the ramp i watched in horror as his boat slid off the trailer. Ramp wasnt that long and not that steep. Motor and lower unit were in the water and his bow was up in the air. No motor or lower unit damage but put some cracks in the bottom back of his fiberglass boat. Tow truck got boat back on trailer. I figured our trip was over but the next day my buddy went to a hardware store and bought some FlexSeal spray and tape. We were able to continue to fish but we had to run the bilge every 15-30 minutes. That kept us close to the ramps and we never made it out to middle where we wanted to fish. That is a beautiful place up there. Pristine. Nice homes. Clean. I really enjoyed the area and wouldnt hesitate to go back. There are some big smallies in there.

I watched a video last night on Youtube of Freider fishing a drop shot on Mille Lacs. Really good video. Uses his depth sounder with sidescan to go across points and locate rocks he wants to fish. Usually the more isolated rocks hold fish. Then he watches his Hummingbird and when the bottom goes from yellow to red he drops his bait vertically! Works it very patiently. Claims these big smallies are fat and lazy!! Wont chase. I'm not a big pro fisherman follower like most of you guys but i really liked this guy!!
